Welcome to a “Peek At PAFA”! In this series, we will be taking a peek at some pieces in our collection at PAFA and learning about both the artwork and the artist. In this episode, our Museum Educators are doing a deep dive on Miriam Shapiro, exploring her artwork, background, and notable activism for women artists! We are lucky to have some of Schapiro’s work in our collection. “Handkerchief Garden” and two more untitled pieces were in our “Artists As Cultivators” exhibition.
