    thank you! that's actually the greatest advice I've heard to use naked Gutenberg; as Im trying to develop skills I was like first trying to most/best popular them/plugin out there (i've found Kadence pretty solid here), to learn it and eventually buy the pro version; but learning Gutenberg first makes total sense, not usre where I got this idea that if everybody is a 3rd party stuff the included one should be lame...

    #4 - Not a tip but something to be aware of - when 6.2 is released at the end of this month, the list view is being renamed to 'Document Overview' All for now, late here!

    I added the Block editor outline 1st. Will certainly remove a bunch of blocks that I will never use. Thanks...

    #2 - if the tool bar is getting in the way, switch to Top Tool bar via the 3 dot menu Jamie mentioned.

    very helpful - the basics keep getting better, so I like maybe not needing extra features quite yet - here's to spending 3-4 hours back on 1st base. Thank you Jamie

    I would love to use naked Gutenberg to make sure my site runs faster without third-party plugins and themes making it slow. However, the core WordPress theme still looks very basic and does not have the kind of customisation that third=party themes and plugins provide. The look and feel of basic WP is still very elementary.

      Check out my famous website recreations 😉 It's amazing what you can do with a block theme + gutenberg th-cam.com/play/PLiPorWuYVbzuVrydFJZflALOc5rpUuwgs.html

    Hi Jamie! I've been watching your videos while revamping a website. Some themes have set a front page already set, and I can't change my home page via the reading settings. Do you know a workaround around that?

    • @jamiewp
      @jamiewp  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh dear - what theme are you using ?

    No matter what I do, I can not get the preferences to Save. I de-selct 'full screen mode' and select 'top toolbar'. I go to Preferences and select 'alwasy open list view'. Then, I go to start a new page and those preferences are not saved. Super frustrating.

      That sounds a little strange - do you have some strong caching ?

    Thanks, Jamie. Great advice. I started with the Allele theme because it gave me the look and "feel" I wanted - along with the very cool "windows on the world" effect you came up with. But as I continue to build my site, Allele has become so freakin unresponsive. Trouble shooting isn't working, so your info on the Twenty Twenty Three theme (and your short vid naming it the fastest) may be the fix. Also, ty for updating your "Gutenberg Ultimate Guide". Your TH-cam channel is always my number one go to for all things Gutenberg.

    Yes, Jaime! As you mentioned the best way to start is with no 3rd parties plugin blocks I learned a lot by watching how you create sites with Gutenberg,.Now I am trying with Kadence Blocks! But I have not really understood at this moment why the WordPress built-in blocks are known as Gutenberg and not just as WordPress Blocks? 🤔

    • @jamiewp
      @jamiewp  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question- it’s because of the history of how the new editor was introduced into Wordpress

    • @jonathanpalacios3108
      @jonathanpalacios3108 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok! It´s confusing as you can also install the Gutenberg plugin... It makes no sense! Have a great one @Jamie Marsland.

    • @jamiewp
      @jamiewp  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jonathanpalacios3108 The Gutenberg plugin is how the block editor was rolled out into WordPress. It's still maintained as a plugin, and the plugin is always a few steps ahead of what goes into the core Wordpress releases.
