- The college basketball game between Furman and Chattanooga had an absolutely crazy ending as Chattanooga clinched an NCAA tournament birth on a deep game winning buzzer beater three pointer from David Jean-Baptiste. Furman hit what appeared to be the game winning layup with just four seconds left to take a 63-61 lead, but Chattanooga inbounded the ball and Baptiste dribbled up court and miraculously hit a contested three pointer at the buzzer to win the game 64-63 and send the Mocs dancing.

It always crazy watching endings like this. I'm never sure whether I want to feel more joy for the team that won or feel more sympathy for the team that lost.
I could attest to those words since I went to witness the first and second games Loyola Chicago played in Dallas in 2018 when they had that Cinderella runs coming through.

Jean-Baptiste was smothered by a double team and still buried that shot. That was absolutely cold blooded.
Exactly. This shot was harder than 99% of the last second shots where yeah maybe the guy is at half court but he has a clear unimpeded view of the basket which is huge. This was still pretty deep while also being absolutely smothered by 2 dudes. Wayy harder
Furman couldn't have played that last shot much better and it still went in. That was insane!
This game was amazing. The last few minutes and OT are indescribable.
Upon reflection, my heart goes out to Furman. They prevailed through the pain of the early quarters. However, they had the immediate vicinity of hitting March Madness if the buzzer-beater was a miss. That appearance would've served as a first for the school since 1980.

I watched this live with my fiancée on video chat and she didn’t know what was happening.
In other news, y’all have to realize that the SOCON is usually a one team bus league so to see that and have your NCAA dreams come to a potential end that was, is heartbreaking.
Putting this one on my watch later list for years down the line to remember how fun this was.

The BEST college basketball game since the Duke / Kentucky East Regional Final at the Philadelphia Spectrum when Christian Laetner with a full court pass from Grant Hill hit the game winning shot with Kentucky leading 103 to 102 with 02:1 seconds in overtime , 1992 . YES, for ME it been THAT long since I seen a game THAT exciting. Oh, just FYI i was a Wildcat fan back THEN.

Had a class with Baptiste back when I went to Chattanooga. It was so awesome seeing him hit this shot and still makes me proud as an alum. This will likely be the best team the Mocs ever put on the court and we had a team that went to the Sweet16.

Furman should have held for the last shot and not left any time in the clock. Obviously he saw the opening and went for it and hindsight is 20/20. Great game… tough loss.
