Geweldig!! ik was erbij bij Ribs & Blues dit jaar, hij was monsterlijk goed. hij speelt met de zelfde rauwheid als SRV.. one of the best! bedankt voor het uploaden!
Who said this trio was going to be thin and quiet. How wrong you thought. Blues is live and kicking. Three kings of blues. Dan Patalnsky Jesse Davey Philip Sayce.
I lasted about 12 minutes... this is complicated. SRV loved music, particularly blues guitar, and particularly a cutting edge 'Hendrix' style. He woke up every day honing his own indistinguishable sound and attack. He never wanted to sound exactly like Hendrix, but he wanted to achieve that explosiveness. He was motivated and inspired. He then indeed created his own genre, his own brand. That rare musician, where, within just a few notes, you knew it was Stevie. This guy probably loves music, but he loves SRV more. He woke up every day playing SRV until every note he played sounded exactly like SRV. He did it, too. I don't how to feel about this. This guy kicks that fucking guitar's ass inside and out. Hot licks, ho-slappin' attack, the tone... but it all belongs to SRV. I might feel more comfortable if this guy just did a SRV tribute band. Within just a few notes, you have no idea who Dan Patlansky is - you think you're hearing SRV. Jimmy Sakurai did the same thing with Pagey, but Sakurai only plays Zep in tribute settings. He's even stated that he's abandoned all attempts to play any original music because it all just ends up sounding like Page, and he thinks that's insulting to Page. But keeping the written music alive, and played live, he believes honors his sensei. And Jimmy actually attended an entire show and was blown away. Gave him two thumbs up. But yeah, I don't know where to put this... really screwed my head up. This guy is really fucking good on guitar, but it all belongs to Stevie.
It’s either good blues or not. How many Charlie Christian wannabees were there? Literally an entire generation of guitar players learned to play by copying his records. “We all stand on the shoulders of giants”.
Been following Dan since 2009...oh this was great...thank you...reminded me of many live performances we were lucky to attend
