What a relief to see Ruby finally say enough is enough. It's clear how much she’s been carrying for years. Standing up for yourself is never easy, but Ruby did it, and now she gets to experience the holidays the way she deserves. Amazing!
It made my blood boil the way they treated Ruby. Thank goodness she finally stood up to them, despite knowing what the fallout was likely to be. Sarah is the worst of them. At least the others tried to make amends. Really good story.
This is very refreshing. With the exception of Sarah, Ruby was able to reconcile with her family. The remaining family members saw the error of their ways.
It’s good that the parents and Emma realized how unfair they were being to Ruby, apologized and tried to make things better for her. She is their daughter/sister/niece and cousin, NOT the family’s unpaid nanny!! She deserved to be able to relax and enjoy the holidays like the rest of the family instead of being forced into watching everyone else’s children and not even getting to enjoy the holiday meal with the family.
Why did Ruby take so long to realize that the family took advantage of free baby sitting. Any normal person would’ve realized soon but it took Ruby several long years to stand up n refuse. Ruby must have been a sucker to be the “family SAINT “. Ruby next time be SMART in one baby sitting!
BS, narcissists like her family don't change, they will fake it for awhile and then gradually sink their claws back into you. DON'T forgive or forget that they didn't care until you pushed back and if you hadn't then they would still be treating you the same. That apology is not remorse it's an attempt to minimise the damage to their public image
Yes, they have the inherited predator trait, it’s genetic. Psychopaths, sadists, controlling narcissists who believe others exist for their benefit and the products of their work rightfully belong to the narcissist. Some populations have a very high proportion of these peo-le. Don’t love, no empathy, guilt or conscience.
I think Sarah was the only narcissist. She dumped her kids on OP then managed to convince everyone else to and told them OP had volunteer to watch the kids.
About Sarah, she is just another entitled Sister that is stuck in the past. Her refusing to communicate should be viewed as a win!!!! The free babysitter is now a thing of the past. Sarah can get on board with everyone else, OR, she can exist in her own skewed version of previous years, but without the babysitter. If I was Ruby, I would not EVER make the first move. Sarah needs to understand that she is not needed for family dinners to take place. She is the only person that is in charge of herself. If that means exile-----------so be it.
She handled this better than those I knew in similar situations. Most just stopped going home others told their nieces and nephews stories about their parents being bad people who didn’t want them and stole all the good toys that Santa brought them.
The 4 hour car trip back to school??? Not to California-that’s a very long trip. Could be the home 😅in northern Minnesota and the college in the southern part of Minnesota.
The thing about sisterly duties is that they go both ways. There were days I would drop everything and watch my nephew when I could. When I had a daughter my sister would do the same for me.
THANK YOU for the holiday story! WOW and YIKES! I can't believe they didn't fill a PLATE OR TWO for her and keep it warm because SHE was BABYSITTING their children for FREE! THAT would be the very LEAST they could do for her sitting the rotten little brats. And WHY didn't the families hire TWO babysitters to take care of the kids, make sure they were fed, etc.? The cost split between the parents would be MINIMAL and EVERYONE would enjoy the holidays (only the people WITH children would pay). And I would have been a LOT nastier to them. Perhaps more CRUDE in my admonishments to them. Geez.
What crap. By myself, I looked after 3 young children, 2 in diapers...cloth diapers. My husband at the time was no help at all. I also did al the housework, cut the lawn and shoveled snow. Am I special? No, that is just what moms did then.
But the moms in this story were not doing it. I did the same, cloth diapers, three kids, full time work at night as a nurse, grad school and never had any babysitter…But it was crazy that we did that. we had no choices. My mother never once had a job in her life..she had five kids. of course my husband is a saint…we worked it out. My daughter started babysitting at 10. and now teaches special ed, trauma informed kindergarten. Her class had 26 kids and 18 languages last year. all of them were where a kindergartner should be by the end of the year.,,My daughter has two beautiful daughters of her own and one is starting to babysit.at 11. She wants to be a scientist. her little sister wants to be a writer…. The big difference between Mom and my kids…husbands like mine…who do the work alongside. My husband is the best of dads. it has been a partnership for 50 years.
Learn to say NO. I could not. I went to workshop overseas when I was 35, one of the exercises was saying NO. I could not do it. I was family servant to sisters.
@@mpb3481 More central, and though possible, quite rare. I grew up in the Bay Area and I can count on one hand how many times it snowed over a 25 year period.
It’s like you do it on purpose, kind of like a punishment for being deaf! It would be nice to be able to read the last part of the story. I’m totally amazed at the rudeness of so many TH-cam channels! None of you have evidently been forced by hearing constraints to read instead of listen! No I won’t subscribe to your channel, it is not worth it!
Your kids. You had 'em. You raise 'em.
I don't understand how parents allow this to happen. It's like she wasn't a part of the family. And the dad didn't see anything wrong in that?
What a relief to see Ruby finally say enough is enough. It's clear how much she’s been carrying for years. Standing up for yourself is never easy, but Ruby did it, and now she gets to experience the holidays the way she deserves. Amazing!
Good, she had a retort ready for her mother, saying I am busy. Well done.

Agreed. Too many of these AI stories just end up with completely broken families.
BS, they ruined her life, I wouldn't have put up with it for so long

YOU DID THE RIGHT THING, LET THEM BABYSIT THEIR OWN DAMN CHILDREN. ENJOY YOUR LIFE.
Brave young lady, finally speaking up for herself😊
I'm glad to see that Ruby finally stood up for herself.
Go to school here and be able to "Help with the kids!"
Definitely NOT a selling point!!!
lol. Right! I love kids but that is not remotely appealing.
Cut her some slack - she was young and didn't know how to deal with it.

@NessaEllenesse her parents acted just as bad so no, it's not just "Sarah" 🙄
Children do not ask to be born, they do not owe parents a single thing.
Father conveniently forgets that she was child minding as a little girl. Not just when at university.
All Ruby had to do was say NO and refuse to watch the kids. But she has no spine as usual.
Well guess who failed to watch past the synopsis
Parentifican is abuse. It's not easy breaking abusive cycles especially when they start in childhood.
@@nickislade5533 I watched the whole thing. But she should have said no from the beginning.
@wplains So how was she supposed to do this as a child?

Ruby finally stood up for herself!!!
Excellent story with a good outcome, eventually
She drives from Minnesota to Berkeley? Berkeley has snow. It takes 4 hours to drive from Minnesota to California. Wow. 😂😂😂😂😂
Really good story. The best I’ve heard so far
She handled this better than those I knew in similar situations. Most just stopped going home others told their nieces and nephews stories about their parents being bad people who didn’t want them and stole all the good toys that Santa brought them.
They will never change, it’ll creep back to “just look after the kids for a bit” until it’s “you have nothing to do, see to the kids NOW”
They can try, but Ruby is no longer a pushover.
It takes 2 days to drive from Minnesota to California, not four hours.
lol! AI can’t keep a story straight regardless of technology!
@ I don’t think our writers, poets and screenwriters have much to fear from AI yet, but I don’t like the feel of it.
The 4 hour car trip back to school??? Not to California-that’s a very long trip. Could be the home 😅in northern Minnesota and the college in the southern part of Minnesota.
AI is making me crazy.. I hate hate it.
OMG a family that actually realizes they were improper. Except Sarah!
What’s wrong with grandma?

This sure paralleled a Thanksgiving version of this story.
No kidding!😊
I'm not the one that enjoyed making kids, why should I?
You can say no to family obligations stay away. I was caught with hsv9ng to go home to be abused, insulted psychologically hurt.

Love this one . Usually I can’t make it through more than a couple paragraphs L
Ruby Tuesday?
Emma is this authours favourite girl's name. She uses it constantly in these 'stories'.
I’d go out for a burger before they showed up and come back when I felt like it.
How come NOBODY stopped this abuse using the sister.
Does your family not let the kids eat?You keep them all shut up in one room at my house. When we have an event kids are as welcome as everybody else

Snow in California? Usually pretty nice there in December.
It does happen
It can happen my ex mother in law lives in California she told my daughter her granddaughter it snows here lately they're getting tornadoes!
Depends on which part of California. It snows in Northern California every year. In 1978 it even snowed in Palm Springs.
Buena historia!!
I charged my sister for babysitting 9:25
I heard this one last week, except it was a 16yo, and thanksgiving. Same stories, recycled over and over.
Why dont you say a BIG BIG NO TO THEM? Youre not a paid baby sitter. Why not just stay at the dorm furing the holidays to enjoy it!?!?!?
Good
Snow? At Berkeley?
Berkeley is in Northern California so snow is possible.
@@mpb3481 More central, and though possible, quite rare. I grew up in the Bay Area and I can count on one hand how many times it snowed over a 25 year period.
Hmm, very similar to another story I watched the other day, only it was an entitled aunt not sisters leaving her kids with the MC.
Clearly the mother and older "sister" are the selfish ones!
Mom u support your spoiled daughter. U all just want to use her. Those your brats should not have had them if u didn't want to raise them.😂

IT'S NOT THE CHANNELS! It's TH-cam in control of those last ads. Notice that only 1 of the 12 ads is for this channel.
