    I’ve been watching all these new pen videos including Sunday’s pen. I’ve really enjoyed seeing all these new pens. Enjoyed today’s rhombus pen. Beautiful color. Keep up the good work man!👍

    After I get the N10, I will get a hold of this model. I saw the Eureka Asymmetry pen and wondered why the cap design was not put on the barrel. Seeing this pen made me forget about the Eureka.
    Hong Dian has been putting out great pens lately. Great designs and the nibs have been awesome. Hoping the N10 does not disappoint.
    Another great review, Doug.

      Thanks, Paul. That pattern on the barrel would be a bit busy visually and a bit rough to the touch.

      It is so similar to the D11, I don't think so. I've got a pile of these heavy metal skeletons lying around as it is!

    Thank you for another very fine review! This pen seems very interesting but it isn't quite my cup of tea, though. I am looking forward to your review of the Hongdian pens you have coming to you, however. Personally, I was on a pocket pen kick during Black Friday and along with the pens I ordered from Ensso and Namisu, I decided to add the Hongdian M1 pocket pen to my list of goodies. Thanks again for your video!

    Recently I've got my first Leonardo Momento Zero. While it's beautiful, it had some QC issues. The clip roller was stuck in a crooked position, unable to spin, but I've managed to get it to the correct position. The nib was all kinds of bad - asymmetric+scratched tipping and it had slightly misaligned tines. It took quite a bit of tinkering to get it writing well.
    If I look at Chinese pens, including this Hongdian, or even TWSBI/Nahvalur/Opus 88, I really wonder what's the actual value proposition for most $100+ options. There are so many stories of bad QC and it's so much less risk to fix cheap pens by yourself.

    • @InkquiringMinds
      @InkquiringMinds  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You should have spoken to your retailer about that nib. My first Leonardo nib(s) were awful and Salvatore exchanged them for me.

    This is a nice looking pen. I think it’s the same color as my N7 in Peacock- which I recently found in the display case separated at the point where the ink window meets the section. But instead of ordering a replacement, I ordered a Majohn A3 in storm trooper.

    Thanks for pointing out to the most picky among us that it's often useful to engage the brain. Nice job, as well, on the vocabulary: adequate, aforementioned, adequate, finials, anodized, polygon, octagon, litigation, digress, medallion, stippled, cartouche, deja-vu, reinforce, unobtrusive, engraving (though those concave characters are likely not really engraved), chrysanthemum(?!), et. al. On my screen there are none of the links you refer to. There are what seem to be yellow light reflections on some of the pens' surface. Good review, as always. Keep 'em coming, please.

    Trying to get teenagers to see a live play at the theatre by convincing them that watching it on TH-cam is not the same thing, now that’s a real challenge. But, if you call it a sport when guys in pajamas with potbellies stand around in a field, spitting and waiting for something to happen, and you pay them a fortune for it, then you might as well call the square a diamond. Because at that point, nothing makes any sense.
    I had a brilliant plan to make a fortune by melting down a ton of cheap fountain pens to extract the gold. But then common sense ruined it for me. Curse you, common sense.
    This pen looks great. I appreciate your review. I was interested in this model and you gave me some useful insights.
    And hearing the word "cartouche" takes me back to the industrial drafting course I took in a previous century. Damn! That makes me feel old and gloomy. I guess I’ll have to treat myself to another pen to cheer up.
    Thank you for the review.

    Five or ten years ago, when we were young, we knew the names of the new models. I can still distinguish those from Jinhao (X450, X750, 159, 992...), Moonman (M2, N3, C2, M100...) or Wingsung (601, 601A, 618, 699, 3008, 3013...). Now I'm lost and the increase in my medication doesn't help either.
    A good mnemonic solution could be to start putting the name of TH-camrs on the new models as they already do with inks. Just an idea, in case someone wants to use it before Kaweco patents it.

    • @InkquiringMinds
      @InkquiringMinds  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Excellent idea! Get the name before Kaweco! I'm surprised they haven't sued TWSBI for the ECO part!

    • @MateuMatheu
      @MateuMatheu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For instance, a sort of mnemonic like this helps (me):
      -Moonman A1 as Moonman Doodlebud
      -Hongdian N10 as Hongdian Therapy
      -Namiki Emperor as Namiki Brown
      -Aurora Optima as Aurora Pens&Tea

    The blue version is sold out at Amazon so I got the green one. Interestingly, the item description does not mention the dreaded “rhombus”, but calls the pattern something much less intriguing, “lozenge.” To me, that word suggests an oval-shaped pill or a “throat lozenge” to treat cough or sore throat. The vendor is the company itself, so maybe your review put them off rhombi entirely. In any case, a lovely pen at a modest price, and I look forward to enjoying the nib.

    Of highest interest to me is those with geometric patterns, and there aren't that many. This one is quite stunning, as it's way more than just printed or engraved pattern. But... screw cap, with metal screw threads? Meh. Metal section? Also meh, but I'll take your word it's not overly slippery. Color seems to be a bit like Lamy Al Star tourmaline, too blue to be green and also too green to be blue.

    • @InkquiringMinds
      @InkquiringMinds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The metal threads are smooth and rounded, with no sloppiness into the plastic threads of the cap liner. So there is minimal, if any, wear.
