No regrets getting into Classics. Been a subber every single year and it's probably my favorite stretch of collecting years in my 25 years of collecting as an adult.
3:28 Hey that's my local Toys R Us photo I put on reddit a few months ago! I was hoping it would end up in one of your MOTU videos eventually! You better have left me an upvote :P
One of my biggest regrets in my long collecting career has been not getting the MOTU Classics line. That Castle Greyskull was gorgeous. Thankfully I am collecting MOTU Origins to fill that hole in my collecting heart.
I feel ya, I started out getting them but then my Wife got pregnant and I was not allowed to buy them. Then when Castle Grayskull classics came then went on sale, we were expecting our second. 🙁
Nifty! Very much looking forward to the other two parts, now! This reminds me of how they sold toys in my corner of England -- if there wasn't a movie currently in cinemas, or a show currently on TV, nobody wanted to carry the toy line. Okay, then, I guess I'll take my money to some American online stores, then . . . .
Saw the movie as a child with my cousin in a theater in Vancouver BC. Fell in love with Family Ties star Courteney Cox that day. :) Was so glad there was no Orko and that it was more gritty than filmation he-man. Loved the new characters of Blade and Sauraud. That bad movie will always have a place in my heart.
I feel this is one of the biggest missed opportunity and blunders not seeing classics in stores. Who ever was in charge really failed to see the potential to sell classics on a mass scale. The origins are selling like hot cakes still to this day. I feel the classics are the best line to have ever been made but what good is that when you can't buy em? It was made for collectors and really only available online so new generations missed out not seeing em on shelves. Also only available to us customers only? Make a ton of units they WILL sell and make em available not just to u.s. but world wide.
It would have never taken off in stores back then...Toy Guru explained long ago on why. Now is the time to mass release in stores to give new collectors a shot in getting these Classics figures again
I first found out about classics when I was looking for a Teela Figure on Ebay and the Classics one popped up. I missed the first subscription, but did 2 subs every year after that because of the swappable heads. What I didn't like was the Chase items and vehicles outside of the sub and having to pay the additional shipping, which through digital river was ridiculous. I do shipping work as my jobs and I know DR was charging on average 75% more for shipping then it cost to ship. I did the numbers for my orders a few times to check and that was without the kind of volume discount that DR would have gotten. That is a huge additional handling fee they were charging. It's why when they thundercats sub was created, I signed up for the 1 shipment of all figures.
I also remember discovering the Classics line after the first 2 waves were released and was like wowww...these looks great! I ended up getting just about 90% of the characters from line and last year finay got Snake Mountain from Super to make a huge display
@@robd1329 I wish I could have gotten Snake Mountain, but I couldn't justify that much money on it, not with the shipping cost included. But I managed to get the Majority of the Classics figures as well, although some of the super 7 power con ones I missed.
I would love for you to do a video on the Mondo Deluxe He-Man figure that went on sale on June 21. That has got to be the best HE-MAN figure ever made.
I’ve seen that presale! Beyond saying « wow this is cool » what else would you want me to do a video on? What angle? If you have one I would love to do a video! Let me know
@@spectorcreative1872 I've stumbled onto watch youtube shorts. Do those. 1. one of you going "wow" and "cool" as you stare at a pre order on a computer. 2. one of you just drooling as you stare at a pre order screen on a computer 3. You kicking and screaming as Mrs. Guru drags you away from the computer that has a pre order on the screen. But that is just a smart aleck/joking response.
The other day I went to my Walmart and decided to check out the toy aisle since there's MOTU toys coming out these days. They did have a big section, a whole wall even, of MOTU figures. But it was nothing but Buzz-Offs. Are we sure this is 2022 and not 198X?
Ah the 80’s… the true golden age: the cartoons, tv shows, toys, music, movies, overall culture of our country (not perfect, but better than current), the final years of the Cold War, a great President (especially with before and after him), and more!! 🤩😇😎
I just wanna know 2 things, first, why were never given Greyskull's bone bridge that leads to the castle? 2nd, why was the original castle mold given a indented skull face?? I mean did the original mold makers decide "Hmm?? The nose bridge hole is sticking out a little bit too much, I'd better just....(and smears it in too, not realizing until the castle hits the shelves)"? 😂
Blade the guy whipping He-Man was in movie The Sword And The Sorcerer the actor. I think DeathStalker is best He-Man movie or even Yor The Hunter From The Future. Its amazing how bad the movie was but they had cursing in it which is funny. I remember when they lower the Jimi Hendrix I'm like turn it up dude how did they even get rights to song. I never got to own Castle Grayskull or Snake Mountain. Terror Drome is like biggest thing I got. Really was all excited about Masters Of The Universe Movie which failed for the 80's idiocracy of coming to the current time or world. None of those movies did well its like The BeastMaster compared to the sequels. Funny expected DC to carry when it was MOTU. Thundercats I wish went longer too :).
I remember enjoying the MotU movie, but wondering why they had to come here to earth. There were just too many interesting locations at Eternia. Granted four year old me didn't understand how much *money* that would cost, but at the same time? I still enjoyed said movie even with the 80's trope of 'hey everyone shows up in modern day to save on location budget.' At least when Last Crusade did it, the 'modern' locations were all essentially either ruins, or with just a touch of set dressing would work for something set in the thirties. You kinda can't get away with that for a mythic land of Gods and Warriors and Horrors.
I’d love for that trope to just die a quick and painful death. The fact that the Super Mario Bros Movie of all things manages to stay within the Mushroom Kingdom for most of the running time is kind of sad.
Hey Scott..off topic toy but who designed and engineered the Matty Voltron? I bought 2 sets..yes 2 as crazy as i was back in the day. And after all these years..i had to sell off the one i had out of the box. The plastic seemed to have not stood the test of time these past 10yrs and the pop out legs in the lions became such a nightmare of not controlling. Why couldnt the legs have rivet joints..the leg firing action was a dumb gimmick. I did get big bucks for it but it wasnt mint since the legs were an issue with the plastic breaking that held the lion legs in place.
The hoover board was a pos. A big piece of plastic with a bubbled up sticker. It was promised to be a movie replica. Still mad about that disappointment.
You always talk about money money and money. It sucks. You are not a fan. And you did a huge damagge yo the brand with your twistted stories. By the way... your audio is (still) HORRIBLE!
I mean...his angle is going to be partially the buisness perspective from his time at Mattel. It's kind of his thing. There's no shortage of MOTU fan channels that don't talk about the the financials. Why are you going to a channel that openly admits that to complain?

And it is shaping up nicely. May it last
You were living the dream. Living the dream. Scott, thank you for your insights as always.
Oh I was and am VERY grateful
Nifty! Very much looking forward to the other two parts, now!

Gwildor has his fans!
"It fulfilled every child's dream of seeing He-Man in a whip fight with a character they've never seen before." I literally died laughing.
“Maybe a movie in a year!” Has been the battle cry for so many years.
It is the motto of my House
It is heartwarming to see MOTU at retail
I couldn't agree more
I definitely consider this to be the Holy Grail of my collection!
For me it is my holy grail prop replica
Thank you Scott for finally doing something He-man related…. Gives us what we want!!!
More to come
I'm proud to say, I helped make it possible! I also voted for the box art!
Nice

I disagree I feel u and mattel are wrong.
Oh it’s the big one! The one we’ve all been waiting for. Here we go…
And?
It was just wild to get this is the mail
I wish I had that experince

The agony of waiting for parts 2 and 3…. 😱

Good morning everyone from Kannapolis, NC! 😇🥵

Oh Jesus! "What can you do on one SKU that will do really well?" LoL
Well...
Let’s be real no he-man collection is complete without a castle greyskull.
Or a bikini Teela
I Had The MOTU Origins Figures
Blade the guy whipping He-Man was in movie The Sword And The Sorcerer the actor. I think DeathStalker is best He-Man movie or even Yor The Hunter From The Future. Thunder cats keeps trying to make a come back but it just can’t stick!

traveling through time & space to modern earth is possibly the lamest of fantasy/sci-fi tropes, and i felt the same way when i was 10
I’d love for that trope to just die a quick and painful death. The fact that the Super Mario Bros Movie of all things manages to stay within the Mushroom Kingdom for most of the running time is kind of sad.
You should use a Back to The Future "To be continued..." screen for the next video.
If it wasn't already recorded! (along with part 3 too!)

Brandon Sopinsky and TC Chen
You definitely got “big” with your Castle Greyskull 🥸🤓
I wonder if there is a Saint of getting movies out of developmental hell….
$150 for the hoverboard was just tooooo high.
Prices are set based on the exfactory cost and then Mattel’s required MC and OP. There alas were no other options
The hoover board was a pos. A big piece of plastic with a bubbled up sticker. It was promised to be a movie replica. Still mad about that disappointment.
I promise it was made with nothing but love
You always talk about money money and money. It sucks. You are not a fan. And you did a huge damagge yo the brand with your twistted stories.

Really? I thought it was improved. But I am always gang for better
