    "Get a better job". Anyone saying that means they don't think that people in service industries deserve to have any security or quality of life. "Get a better job, because anyone doing your job does not deserve to have their basic needs met" is what that means. Yet that Tory would cry a river if they couldn't get a coffee whenever they liked. They just think anyone doing a job like that should be a servant.

    • @notthesonofwilliam788
      @notthesonofwilliam788 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      yes, that idea of "getting a better job" just doesn't make sense. if service jobs are beneath everybody, who should be doing them? who should be serving their coffee, cleaning their office at night, answering the phone when they can't get into their online banking? do those workers not deserve to be paid fairly and treated with dignity? what's quietly insinuated in the background is the ugly idea that those jobs are for immigrants, and that immigrants are just "destined to be poor".

    • @mattwilcoxuk
      @mattwilcoxuk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @D C Do research instead of repeating talking points. If you have and still think that, then can you explain why it should be that we put up with continual decreases in the quality of living - while working just as much and more than ever?

      I do ok, thanks. But we're all doing worse. • @berniethekiwidragon4382
      @berniethekiwidragon4382 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bearded gentleman with the long hair points out the hypocrisy that conservatives reward hard work. Just the fact that he worked two jobs, 55 hours a week, to try and earn more, and yet is having to pay much more tax as a result, proves that the Tories don't mean what they say. The only ones they ever benefit is the very rich.

    We need electoral reform. No more "we voted a party in, they swapped leader multiple times and changed their policies". No more "first past the post". If you were having brain surgery, would you want a democratic vote on how it should be done, or would you want a brain surgeon to make the decisions. The trouble with democracy is that the people voting haven’t got the first clue about the issues. We should set a test of each party’s policies and if you pass with 100% then you can vote. If these aren't clear signs of wealth extraction I don't know what is. If workers aren't being paid well, then someone else is making all the money.
      The Tories are not interested in extracting wealth from working people via taxation so this is a poor measure to use.
      The Tories are the political arm of the capitalist economy. We're experiencing a hundreds of percent rise in costs, profit margins have exploded beyond their already exploitative limits. Wages have not increased similarly. The Tories do not need to raise taxes on working people to extract wealth from them. They just need to sit quietly and let the private sector do the exploiting.

    We are asking the wrong question. “What advice would you give to Liz Truss?” is completely pointless. Truss is a Tory. It doesn’t matter who it is their policies will be - Tax cuts for their wealthy donors, deregulation and cutting corporation tax. If you don’t want this, don’t vote Tory.

  • @5thdimensionliving727

    Lots being said about Liz Truss, her policies and her party atm which is totally understandable. My worry is if she can’t handle journalists’ questions, how will she fair in a public debate addressing questions from the public ? It will be super cringeworthy 😮 she won’t stay a chance

Millenials (like myself) are the single largest voting block now. We used to blame Brexit on the old (with a lot of justification) but it was also because too many of the young didn't bother to turn up to the voting booth. When you leave the business of voting to the old, you get perpetual Tories.
