- We take the 2019 VW Golf Alltrack out to see just how well the 4Motion all-wheel drive system will handy muddy, snowy Wyoming farm roads and dirt roads. Playing in the mud, we pushed the 1.8L Alltrack as hard as we could to avoid sinking into the mud. Watch as we have a blast playing in the mud with the VW Alltrack.

Is it really that good? I have been really considering the Alltrack instead of a Subaru
It is pretty good, just not my style of vehicle. I think VW has pretty much perfected the wagon.
Dsg/manual>CVT all day so there's that.
I have a 2017 Alltrack...Love it! Great sleeper VeeDub. Performance mods available too.
I had a impreza opted for the alltrack this time around, not disappointed! Love the turbo and dual clutch DSG.
Better act quick as VW is dropping the Alltrack and SportWagen from the lineup. The last of the 2019 models are being sold right now.
Compared to Subaru, the Alltrack is bigger than the Crosstrek and smaller than the Outback. The ground clearance is about 2” less than the Subarus. The 4Motion AWD system is and on demand system which is different than the Subaru system.
I have owned Subarus and VWs- they are both good and I just purchased a 2019 VW Alltrack. The VW warranty is significantly better than what Subaru offers.
I'd like to have heard more of your opinion about the car offroad while driving it, rather than just extended in-car footage with little information.

can you please comment more on the manual transmission/shifter for this car? there have been some reviewers criticizing that it's too rubbery and that the gears are too tall. has that been your experience? would you recommend it over the DSG?
It’s been a few weeks, but I don’t recall it being an issue. For me, every different and you just end up getting used to how it performs. Like my old Chevy, I always try to get into a higher gear right away anyway, do it doesn’t matter that much to me how tall the lower gears are in the vehicle.

The DSG is an excellent choice with Triptronic and sport modes. It also comes with paddle shifters is you are into that kind of thing.

6-speed manual and AWD.

Just got a 19 Alltrack and love it!
FYI it's not an automatic. It's DSG. Please learn the difference.
