Acerbis Uniko Vented Hand Guard Review - Episode 104

  • Here is the Dirt Bike Channel review of the the Acerbis Uniko Vented Hand Guard. We like this product. It adds a little bit of style as compared to the stock "flag style" hand guards. While it won't offer much protection against broken levers, and won't save your hands if you go bashing into a tree stump, it's a good light weight option for many riders.

    Some of the best handguards on the market for what they are designed for. These things are practically invincible. I have had numerous falls and they hold up every time.

    Highway Dirt Bikes ultimate handguards with top clamp. Not cheap but great quality and can take a heck of a beating. Also allows for additional electrical switches in the top clamp so you can free up handlebar space and give your bike a cleaner look.

    Out of the 10 years I’ve been racing enduro and harescrambles...the oem ktm hand guard is BY FAR the best things money can buy. I have never broken a set and they are not flimsy enough to damage hands if you hit something. EVERY other style hand guards breaks on the first crash these included. Save your money and run the oem ktm hand guards trust me.

    Highly recommend hand guard. Having a motocross background I used the same pair of hand guards for at least 4 years on three separate bikes can bend them all over the place and they don't brake. If tried to brake them and they just don't

    Good vid, I've run bark busters on my last three bikes, they do add weight but I didn't really think about them stiffening up the bars. A little flex may be nice in reducing vibrations and fatigue.

  • @bryson_stafford
    @bryson_stafford 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I do not like bark busters, I've had them before and didn't enjoy them, I definitely could tell the handlebars were stiffer and I got a wrist caught in one. I run the Acerbis X-Force guards and love them, they don't break. I also run the ARC Memlon unbreakable levers. I did the Taylor Robert trick of move my electric start button to my left hand and the kill switch on the right hand, that way I can have the guards come to the end of the bars.

    I run the Tusk D-Flex full wrap around hand guards. I absolutely love them for the price! I race hare scrambles and have used them to save my hands and levers many times, However if you hit a tree since its full wrap around it bounces off causing more trouble, i have friends that run both and i think at the end of the day whatever you feel comfortable running is what you should do, just my thoughts!

    I'd like to see you review the Cycra Break Away guards some time. Surely you can figure out a way to get the right guard over where you need it. Move the button to the other side of the mount? Rotate your throttle so the cable is where you need it? There is always a way... just have to find it. Great videos by the way. I really enjoy them.

    I am a MX guy too :) On my Mx bike i don´t like any type of hand guards, but i can´t tell you why.. Maybe its just a habit... But on my Enduro bikes i love the full cover hand guards, just because of the lever protection! I never have to worry about my levers when i drop my bike hard :) I had the old HEBO ones on my first Enduro and i really loved them, it was a moped a GasGas EC50 Rookie :D But i can´t find them anywhere now, maybe they are discontinued :( And keep the great content up man! Love youre videos ;)

      DirtBikeDudeZ I have full wrap around for trails, but I always take them off when I hit the mx track because I worry if I was to crash over a jump or bump that my arms might go in between the bars and hand guards.

    those are pretty sweet handguards! Im rocking the Powermadd ones with removable vent covers. so when its real cold I snap the vent covers in to block the air and in the summer I take of the covers to get the airflow back. plus they are pretty heavy duty. I dumped the bike last Sunday and it bent the bolt that holds the gaurd on but didnt bust the guard! :)

    I got some EE flag handguards and I had the same issues with fitting how I wanted it. I ended up moving the e-start button over all the way to the left of the brake perch. So, E-start>brakeperch>handguardmount>throttle. Does that make sense? The e-start is further away, but even when I stall while riding, it doesn't take much effort to reach my thumb over real quick.

    I wouldn't touch these for enduro personally, way too flimsy. They might deflect small rocks but just fold under impact. So as hand guards they don't actually guard anything save for a few rock deflects.

      +Luke Smith Yeah, I've used those in the past on a few bikes. Very nice guards. Kind of a pain to set up initially and get your throttle to work right, but nice guards.
