"Going to church", in its present form, falls quite short of of the biblical ideal of unity. These days it's often little more than attending a speech, or an entertainment venue, in support of some business model. Common interaction, with confidence in the oversight of the Holy Spirit, comes much closer.
Agreed. This is exactly why the first official church wasnt built til the 5th century under Augustine. The aposltes had no interest in creating institutions
I completely agree with you. Even I personally beleive that we definitely need to go to church but today's churches are not what God wanted it to be. Can't agree more with u on this!
My thoughts: I don’t *just* want to *go* to church; I want to be part of the Church. Every single time I’ve attended church, I was unable to build fellowship with anyone. I want to have real fellowship with others. I want to be held accountable by the elders/pastors and so forth. I want to serve people. I want to encourage others and I want others to encourage me. But every single time I attended church, I was just *going* to church and not building connections with others. I’ve tried to stay after the service and talk with others, but it’s very hard for me *personally* to connect with people (which is why I struggle making friends). That’s why I’ve been discouraged lately and I know my walk with God is suffering because I am literally isolated from the Body (I’m the only Christian in my family and I’m not surrounded by other Christians). The people at the church I attended were really nice and the church was very Biblical in its teaching/theology... it’s just, I can’t get close with people and I never was able to even before I was saved. If you don’t believe me: I was a loner at high school (literally) and I didn’t make any friends at university (despite going to bible studies, going to church and prayer meetings). With this in mind, I can’t help but think: if all I do is *go* to church, why not just watch a service online considering it’s practically the same? If I actually had fellowship (and believe me, I really really want real fellowship), then it would be different. Maybe if I didn’t go to church by myself, I’d find it easier to connect with others. Ugh it just sucks, I’m tired of being an isolated Christian. I want someone to read and study the Bible with. I want to be encouraged by another Christian in person. I want to walk with others. I want to pray with others. I want Christian friends. 🙁 Having said that, I know that I should still *go* to church even though I don’t feel like I belong. I also know that my reasons for not going to church are selfish. It’s just a huge struggle for me (especially considering how none of my family goes to church and I wasn’t raised a Christian so I wasn’t used to going to church every Sunday). I stopped going to church for a month and it’s hard to get back into the habit. Believe me, the times I did go to church was such a struggle (because I just didn’t want to go) and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without God’s grace. I wish I could get back into the habit of going to church but at this point, God would have to drag me out of the house. I don’t think people will read this, I just wrote it to vent especially cause I have no other person to talk to about this #whatasadlife
Dango Daikazoku I read your comments and have felt the same way and know other believers who feel the same way. What helped me was prayer asking God to lead me to a spirit filled church and visiting churches with smaller congregations. Once I forgot about my personal needs and put God first, my personal needs were met. The church I attend is very friendly and I am more connected with the church leaders and members. Just allow God to direct your path and put God first in all things, amen!!
Dango Daikazoku , I can understand you. I also struggle to go to chuch because of my intoverted personality. I don't enjoy shaking hand and meeting new people. Once, I suggested the pastor to have the sermon online because I don't want to go to church. Fortunately, I went to biblical church which encouraged and facilitated small groups who usually meet once a week at someone house. Joining this small group inside the church will help your spiritual walk. I encouraged you to find one. Btw, where do you live?
I strongly believe that you can make the Holy Spirit your companion, you have no one to talk to, talk to Him and listen to Him talk back, it helps with the loneliness. And I believe every church big church for that matter should have weekly small group meetings were there are fewer people and someone as the leader to look over you. Wishing you God's best!
Other than during covid or a handful of times during the year, I much prefer to go to Church in person! Online is nice if you physically can't make it for whatever reason or if you want to explore other Churches. I sooner get dressed up and drive the 35 minutes to my Church! I get more out of my Church by going in person and its more fun singing with my congregation!
I find I’m blessed and uplifted through going to church there’s a strong healing and sense of the Holy Spirit there since not going to church I felt spiritually dead again .... depressed and that tells me to go back to church x
1) Going to church everyday and not living according to the word of God, 2) Less going to church and living right. Which is better? Obviously I prefer the second one. Strange thing I heard recently, pastor saying it’s not good to pray at home, one must attend church meeting often. Did not make any sense to me!! I prefer to sit at home and have daily family prayer, and spend time with kids talking about the goodness of God and share the knowledge and pray together. It will help to improve more spiritual values both end. It’s always good to go in the presence of God, I mean to the church but unfortunately nowadays pastors/ church want to take control of your life and believers should be submissive to them, totally disagree with this. Also, God needs too much money these days!! Being born in a Pentecostal family and spent almost 37 years in faith this is what I see. Our God is true God and I never want to stay away from him, but so called churches are (most of em) deviated from where all these began. Seems conventions and crusades are merely a gathering place for wedding proposals, showing off their vehicles and possessions. Haven’t seen one soul being saved, conventions are just waste of money. If at some point you point this out to the minister, they title you as backslider. Very unfortunate, money and filth is full of all the churches. Jesus is coming soon, let’s prepare ourselves for His soon coming. Just keep on walking, don’t turn left or right!! May God bless you all.
Tesfay Ghebremedhn what you said is absolutely nowhere in scripture. Scripture tells us that in acts 2;40 that the early church prayed at home and broke bread together . They met in temples and people homes .
I use to enjoy going to church but once I’m there I feel great. I needed this message. We can’t focus on the goings on in the church we have to know who we are going to serve. In this season of Thanksgiving doesn’t God need your time. Thanks for the message it is lonely sitting at home 😂 I need to see people.
I had a habit of going to church since childhood but I stop it last year. Over those years, I hv went to different churches. One of them, which I went as a kindergarten child, I was hated there because other children thought I'm boring. (Introverted) The second church I went was a joyful church. Everyone play toys & board games together. But I realised they talk little abt God. Finally, I found a church which was closed to God in junior secondary. Everyone was nice. However, I couldn't be friends with them because I was the only one who didn't went there since childhood. I started making excuses for not going to church, such as I am lonely, isolated, or Lucifer attack me easier as I am alone. For this year, I listen to Christian talks online every week. And I found that I learnt much more I did than the previous years.
As a Christian I definitely felt the same way when I first arrived at the current church I’ve been congregating at, most of them there have been there since they were babies or known each other for a long long time and I was contemplating leaving because it was like they wanted to speak with me and were but preferred others because they knew them longer and liked them better then me because at the time I was very closed off. Some wouldn’t even talk to me and just down right ignore me. What really made me want to leave was when they would talk about past memories and talk about beautiful times they used to have and enjoy and one time they posted a video of the times together at camps, different services, just regular talk within one another, games and them acting silly and I got sad because they looked so happy and I just felt like, what I would do to have been apart of those beautiful times. Then one day reading the Bible I learned, our only friend we need is Jesus Christ. After that day I went to church gladly and it’s so weird because after a while I became so apart of the family and that’s why I love Mathew 6:33. It stopped mattering whether or not I became close to them but I still desired to. God saw that desire and gave it to me. I think we should first know the right reason we go to church, we should seek the righteousness of god and everything else will be added unto us.
May i ask for a prayer I suffered a massive stroke last January it's by the grace of god that I survived my stroke lasted for 6hours before I was able to medical treatment, also please pray for my aunt she was recently diagnosed with bone cancer and liver cancer the cancer is is also in her brain, also please pray for my dad he is having heart surgery next week
I have not been able to find a Biblical church that is a good fit for me and my child, who is autistic and nonverbal. I crave that fellowship, and I feel sad that I haven't been able to fulfill that craving yet.
I urge you, no wait! I'm begging you to try finding a local Seventh Day Adventist Church near you! You will not regret this decision ! May the Lord be with you as you continue praying for discernment
try to find a "church" that preaches the true gospel, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Ephesians 2 :8-9, doesnt teach, expect tithes, doesnt have a One Man Pastor, has a plurality of elders., and will love both you and your child, unconditionally! Such a "church" will be hard to find!
Please dont be discouraged to attend church online. Not everyone is comfortable in a real church and many churches are far from a fellowship. What this is saying is basically "You need to be in an actual church to move forward with god, you need elders to watch over you and account for your soul." I believe their hearts are in the right place but they are halting the lords progression by sending this message. He isnt called omnipotent for no reason, he isnt confined to a building where authoritative figures can judge you.
Be careful about twisting God's word for comfort. Doing so will keep a person from the flow of Christ. Of course, if a person is sick, they should stay home.
I hear you, Sir, but You can't serve others in your living room. Plus isolation can also be an excuse for some so they dont have to be accountable for their actions. But we need someone at Times to nudge us when we are falling away.
what does a person do when every "church", in the small town where i live, are ecumenical, churches together, walking having fellowship with Roman catholics etc? I will not compromise the and join in with apostates>
I go to my church with my best friend, but I try to get my parents and family (and so does my best friend with his family) but my parents always rather watch Joseph Prince online, and I am not against Joseph Prince at all, He preaches a great message, but in my personal opinion, that is not church, it is worship, which is something we need to do everyday! But (again, this is my personal opinion) I feel church is being together with other Christians and worshipping together and hearing from each other the problems and prayers that are needed from within the church community.
So reading the bible daily, praying and worshipping God every day through out the day isnt good enough? I need to travel 80 miles to the nearest church who's idea of a service is to preach a feel good water down message of questionable intent because, why? We are the church. Everywhere we go and everyone we see is effectively presented with a living testimony for Jesus. What's more effective. Being the church or hiding behind 4 walls where some guy asks for money week after week? What's more effective. Helping the needy or giving money to a guy who wants a new suit? Paul and many other apostles worked real jobs. Why don't a lot of these so called pastors?
What's questions is that? Be a Christianity is a responsiblity for you to go to church .And by going to church you can learn more about how to follow the step of THY LORD JESUS CHRIST.AMEN.
how about learning at home praying, reading your scriptures ,and being led by the spirit of God,and really getting to know Christ. when i went to church i was not close to God now that I don't go, i am much closer to jesus his the one that teaches me ,through his word, and holy spirit.
Go to church is the only way you can attend His banquet and receive His Body and His Precious Blood in you.... and go to church is the only way you can visit His “ House” Amen 🙏🏼
I live in an Islamic country, and the only church I'm very familiar of is the Catholic Church that's far away. My family also don't go thereunless my mom is on a day off because she's the only one with a driver's liscence.
Mysvious sorry to hear but then in your case, do watch services online until God opens a door for You to meet a body of believers. I know even in islamic countries they are church gatherings but they are HIDDEN or meeting secretly.
I'm a rather generous person, willing to hand over my spare cash to anyone holding a collection cup, plate, bucket etc.. I'm also a sucker for magic tricks. Do you think I'd be welcome in church ?
I like your common sense aproach. I am struggling with finding a church. The fellowship for me is important. The true word of God,the Bible is important to me.I live in a city. I moved here about a year or so ago, I do not know many people. Is there some kind of guide for where you live to find a church? Thank you for your good sense. God Bless You. I will keep tuning you in. Fay
"Not forsaking the assembly of ourselves" is not written for the church, the Body of Christ. The entire book is written for Jewish saints awaiting the Second Coming of Christ. As far as relationships with other believers, I can't build community in a crowd. Everyone faces a stage, sings songs, listens to a sermon, and goes home. We don't even look at each other. Where's the fellowship and community in that? The present church is structured to keep people staring at the stage and not interacting with each other.
Shouldn't it be: Rember, Refresh & Re- Ignite ! I've TRIED too establish a Relationship with the Pastor, But There's No/"0" Reciprocation. Please Pray for me; I'm going to go- Anyway, Because I'm Supposed To be Bringing The Light Into it & The Holy Spirit! It gets Really difficult, when No Family Comes with me! I get to feeling anumosity, because They Don't Come! Pray fore, in this, please .
Normally, larger churches have small groups that are made up of people that live in the same community, but attend the same church. I suggest checking with the pastoral team to find out if they have small groups.
Why do so many Ministers quote "do not forsake the assembling of your selves together," when in the early church they met day to day in houses, not for 2 to 5 hours a week. Clearly, they have already forsaken the teaching so they can watch sports or whatever they do in there spare time. Jesus was with his disciples 24-7=168 hrs. waking hours 16-7=112 hrs. times three and a half years =20,384 hrs. at 5hrs. a week =260hrs per year a lot of years to make disciples of all men at the current rate of most churches as compared with Jesus making disciples. so a man will reap whatever he sows, Paul was in constant concern for the churches and visited them on his trips, when was the last time the church President or his board visited the local church in his denomination? Hireling's in it for wages the Lord's word will testify and ask what did you do with the talent I gave you, No harvest may be time to rent it out to others who will work in my fields.
I always believe that us Christians should assemble together. But I can see why Christians decide to stay home. Churches have become a battleground. And then some of us are thrown in the danger spectrum. I’m sure that Im one of them among others.
You don’t need to go to church or watch online. Just don’t neglect getting together with the body of believers for encouragement and building up one another and stirring up acts of love. Why go to church where a man can tell you about how you need to give him money because of all the teaching he gave you? Teaching like how you need to go to church and give money... lol.
I just don't thin people should be allowed to walk in 45 mins late. I already picked somewhere to sit comfortably by myself. And then come these 2 tardies to sit right next to me. Oh my gosh! The uncomfort!!!
my assignment to you is to watch the videos, by David Pawson on the New Testament Church and see if that does not change your mind about the so called Church of today....
I don't think I have anything to offer though... I've always been in kids ministry since I'm a single lady... Like that's where they always shove you in... But I hated it..... I ened up leaving the church.... Also from what their doctrine was but if I go to another church and the shove me in the Sunday school I'm going to explode. I think I've become bitter 😢.. And I don't know how to get out of it... But I just don't want to be a Sunday school teacher anymore..... I don't think I even like kids
VAN CAPE TOWN the word says in Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly as working for God not for human masters" sister when you are teaching the kids, do it for God! Not for any man or woman in that church. But for God!!!!! It's not a chore it's an opportunity to serve. However if you do feel it's not your calling. Ask God to guide you. Remember, He always has a plan 😉 you're His chosen x
what if it is harmful of going to church? Gathering at church albeit its greatness and holiness, is putting people at plight and danger of infection! Isn't this, by going to church, putting God's name at injustice? Isn't this making his name to be evil in everyone's eyes?
I didn't go to church during the pandemic...I watch online. Now that my church has opened up, I still watch online and if I do go...I still wear a mask. I recommend to do what is best for you and your family. Pray and then let your conscience be your guide.
Why offer it online if you want people to frequent the actual building? You are competing against yourself! By doing this you are encouraging people to forsake the gathering by your actions, not just your words. This is double talk. It's a two edged sword to offer it online to enhance the reach, but by doing so it creates an overwhelming convenience for people who would normally attend. How many people would work from home if their employer allowed it? Quite a few. When you sale convenience, you better believe people will take you up on that offer. Less driving, less stress, less sitting next to people for an hour who care nothing about you. This also means less control and potentially less money for the business of church. Sorry church business leaders, can't always have your cake and eat it too...
Elders or Salesmen? The gentleman in this video is promoting institutionalized religion, which is big business here in the United States. The _"church"_ is not the body of Christ, nor is it the kingdom of God. _"Church"_ is a man-made institution designed and built by man from the ground up. The word _"Ecclesia"_ that was translated to the word _"Church"_ means a _"Christian community of members."_ In Matthew 16:18 the Lord along with the writers of the New Testament used this word in the context of *living people* who are literal children of God, born again of incorruptible seed. The modern word _"Church (from Kirche)"_ means a building or some thing(that belongs to a lord). It is commonly used to reference the institutional church. _"Church"_ and _"Ecclesia"_ are not synonymous though the institutional church tries to make it seem like they are. The word _"Ecclesia"_ should never have been translated to the word _"Church"_ because the Lord never meant for his Ecclesia to be an institution lorded over by men. The Ecclesia is the assembly of the redeemed, not the Church. The *modern institutional church (or IC) is a business.* Its primary goal is not to edify the body of Christ. Its first goal is to stay in business. Therefore its leadership has to preach in such a way that makes it seem like the IC plays a necessary and on-going roll in a person’s justification and sanctification I.e there is no salvation outside the IC. The IC has a vested financial interest in the Ecclesia. The IC needs the people of the Ecclesia to return and submit to it week after week feeding it money $$$ Two key differences: (1) _"Church"_ is an institution that man built. the Lord declared, _"I will build my Ekklēsia."_ (2) According to Acts 2:47 _"the Lord added to the ekklēsia daily"_ - that is people were literally being born into the household of God. This is not the same as someone joining an institutional church.
I can't stress how many levels of incorrect this is. But I would encourage you to stop and think what God is asking of us when it comes to learning about His word and encouraging one another. Regrettably, your comment is based on the Joel Olsteens of the world which is certainly valid... But make no mistake about it, not all bodies of Christ (Ecclesia) or churches gathering are doing so to "stay in business". It'd be arrogant for me to say that all churches that gather are going against God's word. Hebrews 10, specifically verse 25 makes it pretty clear, gathering as a group of believers and being part of the body as it says on Ephesians isn't for corporate greed... But just like everything else, you give a hammer to someone and some will use it to build a house, others will use it to kill.
So what is wrong with a religion being treated as a business? We need to talk more.....not less.....about money when it comes to religion. The Catholic church feeds over one million homeless people annually in some 92 soup kitchens scattered thru out Chicago. (Not once.....once.....do Church attendants ask, "Are you Catholic?" Of course not. If you are hungry, you are INVITED in.) How is a church going to deal with shut ins......those who want to, but cannot attend church for various reasons. Anything wrong going to a church with heating? Someone has to pay for. Kind of hard to give proper worship to our Savior when it is minus 7 degrees outside. Now......can $$$ be emphasized too much or addressed overly by a church minister, deacon, etc. Of course......and that is wrong. Completely. But to think all financial talk about a church is bad is incorrect.
MOST christian churches have done away with the ten commandments..also they dont even tell you messiah real hebrew name.Yahusha....which really sad.+ they worship on Sunday.not the 7thday which is Shabbat..sorry bible studies best thing in church.

I wish there was a church that encourages ppl to give to the poor, and not to the "leadership".
Funny how this conversation went back then. Could we talk about it again in pandemic context?

I come against the spirit of death and heart illness in the name of Jesus! Be well.
Please do update us
What about severe anxiety around people? I have a very difficult time w that.
@jonathan. Thank you. Doing that now 🙏🏻 still working on social anxiety but the Bible is comforting.
Aman, couldn't be said any better i Agree with him 100%going to church and Watching it on line is not the same as being around other believer's.
I am learning so much with watching your videos . Thank you so much for sharing this amazing source of information. This one is quite helpful.
Oh how the world has changed...
😂 I was gonna say the same thing. We need this discussion so much right now!
@@godstories41 organized religion is a scam
You should see it now….
I have not been able to find a Biblical church that is a good fit for me and my child, who is autistic and nonverbal. I crave that fellowship, and I feel sad that I haven't been able to fulfill that craving yet.
Lemons19902010 find the best of whatever any local church offers
I urge you, no wait! I'm begging you to try finding a local Seventh Day Adventist Church near you! You will not regret this decision ! May the Lord be with you as you continue praying for discernment
try to find a "church" that preaches the true gospel, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Ephesians 2 :8-9, doesnt teach, expect tithes, doesnt have a One Man Pastor, has a plurality of elders., and will love both you and your child, unconditionally! Such a "church" will be hard to find!
Unfortunately, only the bigger mega-churches have classes or rooms for special needs chidren.
Aka, we need money. Early church was at homes. So let's meet at homes and disciple there.
If that’s what is actually happening, great! But I’m most cases, it’s not.
Pursu777 the point to me is membership. Finding a church and going to become a member so you can 1) find community and 2) serve others.
I think your missing the point!
What if you are not physically able? My church only show up for Sunday 🤷
If the Holy Spirit leads you to good one. A Holy Spirit church then yes you go.
Go to church is the only way you can attend His banquet and receive His Body and His Precious Blood in you.... and go to church is the only way you can visit His “ House”
Amen 🙏🏼
Another amazing video they are so helpful
I like your common sense aproach. I am struggling with finding a church. The fellowship for me is important. The true word of God,the Bible is important to me.I live in a city. I moved here about a year or so ago, I do not know many people. Is there some kind of guide for where you live to find a church? Thank you for your good sense. God Bless You. I will keep tuning you in. Fay
Why can't I watch it online?
What if the church is "big" with many people and there is rarely a chance for interaction?
I went to the mental hospital because of church.
Matthew 18:20
I always believe that us Christians should assemble together. But I can see why Christians decide to stay home. Churches have become a battleground. And then some of us are thrown in the danger spectrum. I’m sure that Im one of them among others.
I dont see a bible verse saying not to go to church.
You don’t need to go to church or watch online. Just don’t neglect getting together with the body of believers for encouragement and building up one another and stirring up acts of love. Why go to church where a man can tell you about how you need to give him money because of all the teaching he gave you? Teaching like how you need to go to church and give money... lol.
Rather not go to a church with its politics and leaders. Just hearing good sermons and not involved with stressful people
Sounds like a cop out to me.
If having fellowship with other Christians is a drag then heaven might not be very fun.
FACTS!!
Do you expect your children to come to the table to eat?
Remember, He always has a plan 😉 you're His chosen x
if you don't kids, you definitely should not be a Sunday school teacher. Just say no
In bible Jesus said there many false prophets why would he tell us to go to church?
what if it is harmful of going to church?
WHAT?!!
The IC needs the people of the Ecclesia to return and submit to it week after week feeding it money $$$
Two key differences:
(1) _"Church"_ is an institution that man built. the Lord declared, _"I will build my Ekklēsia."_
(2) According to Acts 2:47 _"the Lord added to the ekklēsia daily"_ - that is people were literally being born into the household of God.
(Not once.....once.....do Church attendants ask, "Are you Catholic?"
Of course not. If you are hungry, you are INVITED in.)
How is a church going to deal with shut ins......those who want to, but cannot attend church for various reasons.
Anything wrong going to a church with heating? Someone has to pay for. Kind of hard to give proper worship to
our Savior when it is minus 7 degrees outside.
Now......can $$$ be emphasized too much or addressed overly by a church minister, deacon, etc.
Of course......and that is wrong. Completely. But to think all financial talk about a church is bad is incorrect.
I think the word your looking for is congregation and congregating
So you got to go
MOST christian churches have done away with the ten commandments..also they dont even tell you messiah real hebrew name.Yahusha....which really sad.+ they worship on Sunday.not the 7thday which is Shabbat..sorry bible studies best thing in church.
Jesus is my sabbath. Jesus is Lord over the sabbath the bible tells us.
The reason behind is that after you listen to your pastor, you can now pay for your tithing.
Well uhhhhhhhhhh
It’s 2020 and I’m watching church
OH THE FUCKING IRONY
