    It reminds me my grandmas walls inside her old village house. There is something rustic and comforting in the appearance of these walls. You are a great inspiration for anyone!

    I am thinking of using this as an alternative to bringing in a plasterer to do my walls. Are you happy with the finish or did you have to put wallpaper liner on the walls. Also are you saying that you can get the stuff in powder form which will be a lot cheaper? Thanks

    Put it on with a roller, use an ox speedskim to flatten it out, 2 coats required. I use Gyproc EasiFill 60 for a cheaper alternative but have to mix it yourself. Second coat should be mixed to a more watered down consistency.

      What is speedskim?

    I've never seen anyone skim a wall like this... For the best results you should prime the walls and then skim the walls using multi finish. Apply the plaster using a hawk and plastering trowel.
    If I were you I would have replaced all the old skirting, and skimmed the the room with thistle multi finish. Depending on the state of the original plaster I would have been tempted to go back to brick and board the room with new plasterboard. At least it's done properly and will last years.

      Agree but bear in mind this is a diy'er not a tradie..this stuff good for patch work or doing small little areas like small toilets ect providing there no damp issues ect.. but yea I agree there an underlying problem there in the walls that either needs full rip down and plaster or abit of external jointing on any render cracks them could get away with interior skimming...

      I think this lasted longer than 5 mins and she didn’t have to pay someone £1000

      I agree mostly, but there is no damp in that room it is just condensation windows are probably unvented

    Good on you having ago and plastering ain't an easy job especially for a diyer...this product is good if you want to cover some old artex or a small area that needs just abit of tlc as the point of this stuff is for the hone diyer to do small things as stated...always use some pva first though...I used it on an area about 3x4 by 8 foor high and no issues...but if you got damp ect you should check external issues first or just get a trade to skim and treat properly...just an opinion but good on you having ago.

    thanks for the video! I just bought it myself to fix some irregular walls... but mainly for the ceiling from which Ive removed woodchip paper 😏 I think ill lose my patience will need a bigger brush and tool 😅 but did u do the ceiling as well? Was it difficult? I was unsure of adding pva because it says to put direct on plaster so i guess we'll see! 😬

    • @how2not22
      @how2not22  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I did do the ceiling, It was tiring, my arms did hurt but I would advice to use a skimming tool to apply it to your ceiling and smooth it.

    • @stephaniegomes8095
      @stephaniegomes8095 ปีที่แล้ว

      @how2not222 thank you! fyi for your future usage: I bought this, used it and as well as barely finishing the wall it wasnt as smooth as I wished. I then decided to buy a trowel, some ready mix plaster (22kg cost me 30eur) and... so much better! Still no expert but a million times better, give it a go youll see its actually easier! I will have to try the ceiling afterwards I did hear some guy talking about watering it just a tiny bit down and using the roller... we shall see 👀

    Can this be used directly onto plaster walls? We had some wooden panelling that was glued to the walls. We’ve pulled it off and it’s removed the paint layers down to the plaster. I’m assuming this will work with filling the gaps again but can I go straight on or will I need to do a white wash first?

    Looks great and I’m about to try it myself. You said about using bagged plaster as a cheaper alternative. Would you still use a brush to apply and what consistency would you us?

      You can use a roller with bagged plaster

    Did you have to mix the tub with water because its quite thick to apply??

    • @how2not22
      @how2not22  ปีที่แล้ว

      No I just applied it straight on the wall without thinning it down as my mouldy walls needed good coverage.

      @@how2not22 Hi very helpful video, i was just wondering with these ready made skims is pva not needed at all? as I have read reviews from different products that say they had shrinkage and cracks on the surface after it dried.

      @@how2not22 Ingenious! my old damp wall now drying out could do with a skim like that. But when the wall is fully dry but may still have a damp smell do i wash it with bleach or vinegar first and will the skim also help with blocking it. Do i need to use PVA first? Thanks.

  • @slashingbison2503
    @slashingbison2503 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah ive never seen plastering like this but hey it worked, just get a plaster pre made mix, trowel and hawk as its a million times easier
    dilate pva glue the area then apply the plaster, once dry wet the trowel and skim over to smooth it out.

      Danny DeVito is 4ft tall give or take a few inches which is the same measurement as the width of the room. Danny DeVito also played Penguin in the Batman film and did you know a emperor penguin is also 4ft tall.

    You done it wrong it's a plaster not painting, multi finish is what you use

    • @how2not22
      @how2not22  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the intructions say to start off by using a brush to apply the plaster but I found using a skimming tool more useful at smoothing the plaster.

  • @JamesWilliams-ge4gq
    @JamesWilliams-ge4gq ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This is not how you should “skim” over mould.. PVA or SBR primer first then a multi finish bagged plaster.. I can’t believe I seen this being applied with a paint brush 😂 anyway that’s why the bed is against that wall
