I have watched dozens of reviews on pianos and always find my way back to Jeremy. He just does everything so perfect. My parents have an upright piano in the living room but I can only play it when they’re not home because I’m shy LOL so I’ve wanted a keyboard of my own I can lock myself away in my room with. So. At 3:42am I can confidently say, I have just purchased my first keyboard and am absolutely thrilled. I went with this one in particular because of the features that it beats out on other models and of course, it’s impossible to beat that beautiful red color. It should be here within the next few days and I am absolutely geeked out. Thanks Jeremy for all the work you put in your videos that helps us make decisions on what to choose!

Update: Have had it for nearly 2 weeks and have played it ever single day for hours. Absolutely love the sound and the feel of it. One of my favorite things about it is connecting it to the app and layering the piano and string voices together. It makes me feel like I’m conducting an orchestra. It really makes the whole thing come to life. One of my best purchases yet!

I'm a pretty good researcher so pay attention. I studied some piano about 50 years ago and did pretty good as far as I went largely playing scales and exercises. No matter how I shake it, I always get back to Casio as the best mix of value, features and the greatest ability to remain functional as your abilities advance. If you want true weighted keys, graded action, duplication of piano function for practice purposes, versatility in other modes and no truncated features, Casio represents the best mix for beginners who are sure they want to work at it and people like myself who have some experience and want to pick it up again. The two viable entry level models are the Casio CPD-S160 and the model being reviewed here, the Casio Previa PX-1100. If you can stretch it, get the Previa. It will just serve you over a longer arc and it is a capable of running on battery power also.
If you need to scrimp and piano function is your primary thing, there are decent keyboards in the $300-plus range, with stand and sometimes three pedals, which function as pianos only. If you get one of these, you will be able to practice and learn, but you will have to replace your digital piano sooner as you become more advanced.
For the sake of full disclosure, I haven't touched or even seen any digital keyboard. But I can research and I do pay attention. I am playing on funny money, so to speak, so I think will go large and get the Previa. It definitely outclasses the CDP-S160 and doesn't cost a lot more.
Other units in the $400-$750 price range are viable also. The Yamaha P-125 seems pretty good but does not allow the use of a three pedal unit. It might have slightly better sound than the Casios. The Korg B2SP impressed me also in terms of its ability to emulate an acoustic piano, but it might be more limited in its features. Shop around and save. Amazon is a source. But so is Ebay and so is Walmart for that matter. The same sellers often are on all three of these outlets, and you can return items bought through the Walmart website at the store. That's a big plus.

There is so much beautiful string resonance, I’ve been contemplating between this and the kurzweil sp 7, they both have phenominal sounds and I’ve been looking at the yahama ck88. The Casio does have really short pivot points and you notice it bigtime when you try it out

Just own this for one month as Covid hit Taiwan. Love the sound, design, double headphone jack…For a beginner learning Jazz chord it’s a little tricky playing four note chords with black and white though. Have not tried those advanced settings. Love the sound mode that adds more stereo depth~~

I was going to buy the Px-S1100 cause I really like how it sounds and how it looks, but I'm having second thoughts cause of the videos and comments about its allegedly "flawed" action. I am an absolute beginner and I'm not willing to become a professional classical piano player. Do you think I should then go on and buy the PX-S1100, or should I go for the Roland FP-10, although it has a heavy action, quite not suitable for an absolute beginner like myself? Note that unfortunately, I can't try any of those two pianos where I live, so I have to rely solely on reviews and comments. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, idk if you have made your decision but I have tried both the Roland FP-10 and the PX-S1100. In my opinion, if you have the budget for it then go with Casio. Both sounds not that much far from each other but Casio wins with better technology/functions. Aesthetically, Casio wins for me also, the design is really pleasing which makes me want to play/practice the piano more. If you dont have the budget then the FP-10 is best choice there is for both sound and aesthetic, also simple to use. Hope this helps!

My priority is sound quality, my budget is around 500usd. I've shortlisted YAMAHA PSR I500, KORG EK50/EK50IN/EK50L, ROLAND E 09IN. I'm an Indian but more fond of western music, basically 90's. Could you please help me in finalizing the right choice.

Interestingly you perceive a couple of the major drawbacks - the need of an USB Bluetooth dongle, which is wasting the USB port, and the absence of the aux in - as “improvements”.
These are indeed major design flaws.

Pianoteq K2 for Kawai, Steinway, and Keyscape for a modified C7 that kind of sounds like a CFX?

Amazing video, love your content. This keybord looks really good and i cannot wait to buy it, just one quick question. Do the keys allow you to do different dynamics ( piano, forte, fortisimo...)?

Why can’t they allow turning off DSP. Forcing the high quality samples through DSP produces different between live playing and recording playback

This is really nice. On Sweetwater, the PX-S1000 is listed at $649.00, and the PX-S3000 at $849.00. I wonder if they are upgrading the latter, and if it will be called the PX-3100 or PX-3300?
Decent powered speakers and great sounds, but it would have been nice if they made this an 88 key version of the CT-S1 with the 61 voices. The 192? note polyphony is great.
The dual headphone jacks on the front keyboard side should be on all new keyboards, instead of the back panel. It just makes sense. Likewise for the stereo 1/4" audio out and two pedal jacks. It was great to utilize the new BT dongle, but they still should have kept the 3.5mm audio in jack, as not all playback devices have BT connectivity. For that price, I would probably go with the Alesis, or if I could go with the financing options from my local music store or Sweetwater, I could get the Roland RD 88 for as little as $55 for 24 months.
It's all about features, design, sound, marketing, production cost and MSRP, and ultimately having so many choices.

Nice playing Jeremy! Piano sounds a lil better than my CDP230R, but the harpsichord at the end a lil thinner than my Ensoniq KS-32’s coupled harpsichord...🤔 🎶

    Hi , Jeremy
i would like to ask for your advice. At the moment, the price of the pxs1100 vs pxs3000 are the same (the shop reduces the price of pxs3000 ) . Which one would you recommend?
I used to play classical music with the upright piano my entire life and have stopped playing the piano for 5 yrs. Now I would love to practice classical music again and also learn how to play the keyboard in order to be able to enjoy playing pop music with this instument.
thanks in advance😄 I love watching your videos. You really help the others with the information as a professional.

No tone memory, and not enough improvements to warrant upgrading my px-s1000. Nice keyboard if you don't have the s1000. I highly doubt the slight weight difference of the black keys will be holding you back which is a hot topic regarding this keyboard.

Very Cool! Seen here first!!! Jeremy with the inside track! Any changes to the Keybed, or is it basically the same as the Casio PX-S1000? By the way, you are a killer good keyboard player. You really cranked on those classical tunes, pleasure just to listen. Terrific preview!

I bought the DGX-670 based on your recommendation and others. Unfortunately no one revealed that the strings and other pad vocies don't sustain with the sustain pedal.. If you want sustaining strings the DGX is a very poor choice. Because of the DGX debacle, can you please always test every instrument to see if the strings and pad voices sustain?
