Man this bike Is sick. It feels like yesterday when you couldn't ride a Walmart bike on normal trails. And you are a big reason the bikes changed for good. Love from India never stop
It’s great to see a legit trail bike for beginners with the potential to be something more come out of Walmart! I think you Kev are mainly responsible for this and newbies should be grateful to you!!
The Ledge X1 is my next build. In 23 I stripped an Ardor down to the frame and built it back up again with a 160mm fork, new tires and wheels, bottom bracket, crankset, lockout derailleur and shifter, new brakes and rotors, sealed bearing headset, internal dropper post and seat, grips, and pedals. And love it, it holds its own with the riders I encounter on the trail.
I just stumbled across this bike online yesterday and I commented on your Ardor video about it, and then like some kind of magic you already have a review about it. Impressive. You give a lot of helpful information about the bikes you review. Thank you.
This bike is far superior to their laughable salvo pro... Parts on there needed to be replaced immediately and at 2k, absolutely no thank you! This is a real project bike to grow with
I'm stoked! I love that it's finally ok to be seen on a Walmart bike. Especially with more reasons to upgrade things and replace parts. My favorite part. Thanks Kev.
This is a perfect bike for me. I will use this one like it is and later knowing my self an upgrade in some components for the joy ride. Excellent video and i hope that are local Walmart bring this baby someday.
It's back in stock! I've been kicking myself for not buying when Kev said it was in stock the first time. Just ordered 3. One for each kid and 1 for the wife. I'm still enjoying my XR Pro so no reason for me to get a new one yet, although it would be nice to have the tapered tube. If anyone has been waiting hurry up because I doubt they'll be in stock long.
As someone who works at a professional shop any trail rider will regret buying this. The wheels will need replace the fork and rear shock need replaced to do any legit trail riding. The dropper post is better off being externally routed. We've seen cheap full suspensions come in all the time if you aren't sure buy it but once you're sure trail riding is something you wanna do you will quickly realize any box store quality bikes will leave you stranded and hurting on the trails.

Hey Kev, great review. Love the content and am newly subscribed. I was able to get in early enough yesterday to pull the trigger on the ledge x1, but I did see it was sold out within an hour afterwards. I'm stoked to see what you do with this build, don't leave us hanging, we want to see your "stage 2" build in action on the trails to know if the frame is capable. Also eager to see the specs so I can start looking at upgrades. I'm hoping the welds are just "ugly" in appearance but still solid welds, only time will tell. It looks like Mongoose really stepped up their game with this bike.
The final frontier for these big box bikes is boost spacing and thru axles. The standard spacing and QR limits wheel upgrade options. I'm sure that will happen soon after seeing the pace of trickle down advances that have occurred. The only other frame limitation I see is that likely the rear suspension pivots are bushings rather than bearings to keep cost down. As a result, rear suspension plushness and rigidity will never match a higher end FS frame using bearings.
Good looking bike. Now that this video has dropped, the bike should be out of stock in a few hours! I’d be picking one up, but I just bought a kayak and the warden is already complaining!
I still have an 8yr old 24"wheel ledge that works as good as the day it was bought and my daughter sent it end over end down a mtn in pisgah plus multiple crashes since.
Happen to notice 4 of these at Walmart the other day. They were marked down to $179.00. Did some research and went back today and grabbed one. There were only 2 left and none left when I left the store. After watching your videos and the new price, seemed like a no brainer to get a Ledge x1. Thank you so much, very happy right now. 🙂👌

I can't really explain the excitement I felt when I saw the thumbnail, I've been waiting for an update to trail worthy/upgradeable trail worthy (you know how some full sus Walmart bikes aren't exactly fit for trails?) Walmart bike for a while now. The Ledge looks like a very good update, though the bolt-on rear wheel bothers me as well as the free-wheel, I would pay up to $50 more for a quick realease rear axle and a cassette, but I know they had to make cost saving measures. Even though I'm not in the market for a new bike (and once I grow out of my 27.5" hardtail I might get a $1400-$1700 full squish), it's still exciting to follow the major changes that these now trail worthy Walmart MTBs are going through!

Is it just me who routes the rear derailleur cable to the left hole (non-drive) of the frame and the dropper to the right? All the cables that attach to the right hand in the handlebar, i route it to the left holes. Left hand to the right holes 🤷
Looks really really good. Mongoose did their homework in making this look modern and not cheap. But doesnt adding the beefy fork with steel uppers, rear suspension, plus tires and 38mm bars just pack on the weight on an entry-level bike. Could Mongoose make a bike that would handle all the basic trails as well as this and be more spry on pavement if they made a rigid bike with a lighter frame and wheels? Maybe then they can throw in some longer lasting drivetrain parts too.
Note: most big box bikes are built to meet a specific price point, so there are usually sacrifices to make that happen. What I’m happy to see are designs that allow people like me to remove the parts I don’t like and put on what I want
Ok after getting this one yesterday and fiddling with the shifter because it doesn't shift properly, the endless squeaking everywhere, I am returning it and I just ordered a Giant Stance. A lot better than keeping the Ledge then upgrading it which will end up costing more if I try to match what is in the Stance....
that's the thing, Walmart *requires* their bikes to have a kickstand, so they had to put it somewhere. I don't know what it is about putting the kickstand on the chainstay or whatever you'd call it, but I prefer it over having the stand under the pedals. My FINISS (Kev will remember those, he had one, lol) had it's kickstand there and it stood up in mud a lot easier.
I just purchased one. I’m finding the front and rear suspension is pretty stiff. Since this is my first mountain bike, I don’t really know how stiff the suspension should be but I see others who can easily compress their bikes just by leaning forward or by bouncing on the seat. I have some movement but not as much. How would I adjust this or is that not possible on a budget bike?

Have you ever taken a big box bike and done a complete overhaul on components like new suspension drivetrain handlebars saddle dropper post cranks pedals just everything. If so did it create a better bike for the money
I just put mine together and have a few dislikes: the detailer can take up to 5 seconds to shift, the fork is a pogo stick and the front brake is so weak even after doing the burnishing. The medium frame fits my 5’10” very comfortably and I don’t mind the weight of the bike. I also like the rear suspension geometry for not too rough trails. The saddle is also nicer than I thought it would be. By the time I update the fork and derailer, the cost is too much so I will be returning the bike. :(
The welds on this bike were bit messy. Also not keen on the suspension linkages, is it a design Tha t keeps bearings in place or will the bearings get pushed out, and the rocker link and seat stays rub? That was an issue i had on 2014 Trek Fuel ex 29, and seen some had that with Commencal Meta. And these bikes are in a much higher price class. But now I have a bike in even higher price class, but high pric eis not why I went for it. But alot of smart and great solutions, I have Geometron G1, but I still drop in here and other channels in comments, to share my concerns, or mention good things That were missed. Front end of bike looks decent apart from the messy welds, frame probably is stiff enough, but can't know for sure, but all frames will flex some, so proper pivots are important, I know GT Verb has dual shear pivots so no way bearings can get pushed out. Will you dive deep into the frame later? I am sure, ppl want to know that. I suspect you already might be thinking of that. But I see the Mongoose has dual shear pivots on the chainstay.
Do you know the axle spacing in the rear? I want to swap all the parts off my hardtail and put it on this when I buy it. I'm concerned about the wheel set fitment. Trying to do this on a budget. The wheelset is off of a diamondback axis
i Iike this bike but i also like the dolomite alx. the alx is out of stock everywhere. is the argus sport worth the $1000 price? its the only one i can find thats available now.

If only this came to the UK, we only get budget hardtails, all budget full sus are super cheap and super heavy.
are the rear pivots bearings??
Video showing what’s hiding behind there coming tomorrow and/or a live stream to answer questions
I live in a place where it’s hard to get around and I jarred the guts out Of my Hardtail and so I bought one of these so cool thank you for the video
Do you know the axle spacing in the rear? I want to swap all the parts off my hardtail and put it on this when I buy it. I'm concerned about the wheel set fitment. Trying to do this on a budget. The wheelset is off of a diamondback axis

@@KevCentral Thank you!
keep up the good work mongoose. you still have a long way to go
Does this bikes have mounting points for a back rack? Anyone?
Afraid not
Looks awesome! I think I need a new bike! I may have to sell my wife's "SCHMINN"! Lol
@4:32 Where the brake and axle bolt into, is that a massive crack?
See my other videos where I show this is just casting flash
@@KevCentral gotcha. I watched the geometry and stage 2 but I probably missed it.
Wish they would make this in a small. It would be Perfect for me if they did. Guess I will have to settle for Ozark Trail Ridge small Version 2.
I might pick this up and throw some of my old parts on it...What's the axle width and diameter for the rear?
Man. I want a full suspension budget bike one day. I think this will pair perfectly to my medium sized axum dp!!!!
The geometry look quite modern do you happen to know the numbers?
I so seriously hope you consider this for a project bike. Its a true milestone for big box OEM spec, and it has clear potential.
You must have commented before you got to the end. Stage 1 already complete. Stage 2 underway 😁
@@KevCentral Well. I sure did watch the whole thing. I must be deaf. Good to hear you have an eye for potential. Which, clearly, you do
4:32, is that a crack in the frame? under the brake assembly.

Any idea where to find a derailleur hanger for the X1?
Offtopic question, but I would be very happy if you answeres - what are your thoughts on KS exaform 900i dropper, does it have any play and are replacement parts availiable freely? Ty :*
Where is this bike..?
I can't find it available anywhere..?
Wish this would come back in stock! Really wanting to give it a try
They’ve been coming in and out this past few weeks, so keep watching
@@KevCentral thank you! I’ll keep watching! Would you recommend this or the X2 for a starter bike? I used to bike all the time when I was younger (both mountain and bmx) I’m 28 now. But looking to get back into it as a hobby! I appreciate the reply and any info!
Sorry if I missed it. Will this come in a 19in as well as a 17in frame size? 6'2" rider size.
When you show the rear of the bike the chainstays looked cracked in two spots.
Where can I get the tires for this bike I’m having a hard time finding them
is that a rear crack by the brake caliper @4:32 ?
