They certainly did make monsters a lot more appealing in 4, with two customizable evility slots, kinging, giant and double Magichange, and multiple sets of voices to choose for all them (My favorite change). I can't wait until I can get a manly sounding dragon and then use him to blow up the world many many times (Final Dragoon >>>>>> Beat Wash as a second magichange skill).
Oh, I almost forgot! One of the Dragon's Skills happens to same as Hiei's (from the anime, Yu Yu Hakusho, no less!). You know, the part where he absorbs the green dragon that he just delivered before doing an extremely nasty bite?
The first Orc skill is "Mistakeoff", which is basically, mis-takeoff, or a takeoff that failed. But the English translation seemed to think it was 'Mistake Off", and thus it was dubbed "Mistake Eraser". Translation error.
It’s just like how the Cockatrice attack where the animals stack is originally “Bremen Band” (referencing the Town Musicians of Bremen). In English the move is nonsensically named “Boomerang Band”.
@Kenadian2006 It indeed is a reference to that. Assuming the JP Disgaea 4 wiki is correct (They have a big list of all of the parodies and references there).
Damn these moves are awesome. I can't wait for the release of the game. I was wondering if you could post the Cockatrice's first Magichange skill being used on some actual characters, like Volcano or some Mage's. I want to see the enemies animation while they get eaten.
@TheOverlordPrinny The giant monsters gain a portion of the stats from the monster that fused with them, have an increased range/radius on their attacks (This goes for the character they magichange with, also), can bounce thrown characters a lot farther, and also push normal sized units out of the way when they move.
Alaraune's Magichanges are from Precure Heart Catch. First one being (Pink/Blue/Silver) Forte Wave. ( Depends on the precure using it.) Second one Floral Power Fortissimo. A duo finishing attack with two precure. Search "Floral Power Fortissimo" and "Pink Forte Wave" (or Blue or Silver).
Man, NIS really outdid themselves this time...! Then again, they also overdid the Waepon Skills, Character-specific Skills, etc.... This game is filled with ABSOLUTE OVERKILL in the skills department, if you ask me!!! o_O Hmmm.... Now all I need to do is wait for September for the English ver.
I take it the zombie dance is a reference to Thriller? The 2nd Prinny skill i think was a reference to Mouse Trap... I just love the dragon's first skill. Hilarious xD
I recognized: Gurren Lagann (Alaraune's third special) Dragon Ball (Dragon's fourth special) Fist of the North Star (Nekomata's fourth special) Anpanman (Zombie's fourth special) Pac-Man (Obvious; Ghost's fourth special) Pythagora Switch (Prinny's second magichange, search ピタゴラスイッチ if curious) I think the Mothman's third special might be a reference to the Pokemon anime, but I'm not certain. References aside, I was laughing almost constantly at either the destruction and/or weirdness.
@Rakurai309 Zombie's 4th move is reference to the Thriller by Michael Jackson. Also, I noticed Char's Counter Attack reference from the pig goblin dudes.
@vinnymac102 You know, watching these skills does boost my eagerness to get this game but at the same time it helps my patience to wait a bit longer for it lol.
@Hardman5509 Anything , as per usual, though they're most proficient with axes, fists, and guns in that order (Though only in the sense that they learn the weapon skills for those weapons naturally).
Wait... 13:39... Was that a Mario and Luigi: Inside Story reference... Or did Mario and Luigi get that from the same place Disgaea did... Eather way, it's hilarious!
for pop culture references i picked up: Thriller Zombie Yuyu Hakusho/Dragonball Dragon Pac-Man Ghost Gurren Lagann Plant Fist of the North Star Nekomata
@Theespada13 I understand the "Bullet Hell" Touhou reference where the enemies try to dodge the blasts but is the other, the one that's attacking a skull a Touhou reference too?
Prinny's final attack looks like Vaisaga's Code:Kirin. Baciel's second magic change skill is a GP03 Dendrobrium. Giga Drill Break by Alraune from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan. Orc's first magic change skill looks like Voltes V's V no Jigiri. Did i missed anything ?
If they release any monster class as DLC, I'd want the Great Wyrm/Entei from 1 and the PSP version of 2. Though I wouldn't mind seeing Warslugs and/or Holy Dragons again, either.
Nekomatas have Fist of the North Star & Flowers have Giga Drill Breaker lol But can someone tell me what that mothman skill where you shoot a bullet through a swarm of moths is a reference to?
Is it possible to unlock all of the monster classes as soon as you can access the item world? I heard that was the case in the previous titles, and I don't want to have to wait until the latter half of the story to get a dragon or nekomata.
@uagniza All of them have at least one personality type where they speak. I hope someone makes a video of how all of the different personality types for the generic classes sound, since I'd like to hear some of them, like the ninja who speaks like a foreigner.
You know what they should of done that would of been GREAT? They should allow the monsters to custom there magichange so then they can be any weapon with there own special moves for each and THAT would of been great but i hope they do bring DLC.
@BassGSnewtype The reference would have been better though if it was Orcs pushing an asteroid into earth instead of the earth being pushed too close to the sun... Damn orcs never get anything done right...
10:48 Why didn't they use one of those defensive screen-clearing abilities? Not that it matters, since they fail for getting hit by the most simple of patterns...
a question ehm how do you change the color of some of the caracters? because flonne got different colors, and in a video adell has blue hair and black shirt
They certainly did make monsters a lot more appealing in 4, with two customizable evility slots, kinging, giant and double Magichange, and multiple sets of voices to choose for all them (My favorite change).

This video proves the epicness of Prinnies. Especially the move at 0:33
I can't wait to get my hands on this in Sept. Thank you for posting.
THE MOST HARDCORE AND BADASS RPG EVER CREATED IN VIDEOGAME HISTORY: DISGAEA
Yes! Bell Volcano! Having played the 3rd to death makes me happy that some characters and moves are returning.
I really like those mushroom guys!I have like 4 of them!
14:50 That nekomata is already dead.
I love the nose bleeding attack, that is so classic for Anime's like this XD
@Kenadian2006
It indeed is a reference to that.
Assuming the JP Disgaea 4 wiki is correct (They have a big list of all of the parodies and references there).

MY mind is blown........, I was so overcomed by the awesome that I actually broke ouy in tears.
@TheOverlordPrinny
The giant monsters gain a portion of the stats from the monster that fused with them, have an increased range/radius on their attacks (This goes for the character they magichange with, also), can bounce thrown characters a lot farther, and also push normal sized units out of the way when they move.
WOW definitely looking for forward to this game. Thanks for the upload. Looking forward to the magic skillset
Alaraune's Magichanges are from Precure Heart Catch.

Second one Floral Power Fortissimo. A duo finishing attack with two precure.
Search "Floral Power Fortissimo" and "Pink Forte Wave" (or Blue or Silver).
Coolest set of skills yet. Don't know if the monsters are the strongest but they sure are the styliest characters.
Man, NIS really outdid themselves this time...! Then again, they also overdid the Waepon Skills, Character-specific Skills, etc.... This game is filled with ABSOLUTE OVERKILL in the skills department, if you ask me!!! o_O
Hmmm.... Now all I need to do is wait for September for the English ver.
@bombz4327
It's a fist weapon, actually.
Also, the first song is called Sparking.
@Wildwolface77
The last part of that skill is also a Dragon Ball reference to the finishing strike Goku used against King Piccolo.
MJ's Thriller Zombie Special at 1:50 is glorious.
Succubus and nekomata, my favourite monsters❤❤❤
@NarfLarf Touhou. The game is all about that, and ANYTHING can become a Touhou reference.
Now that I've seen JoJo's Bizarre Adventure I can see now that the Ghost's second Magichange skill is a JoJo's reference.
Okay, that is so a reference to Power Ranger SPD at 7:26. Val took out 100 baddies. guess what Shadow Ranger did in one of the episodes?
Dai's crest (from dragon quest Dai no Daiboken) at 6:25
I take it the zombie dance is a reference to Thriller? The 2nd Prinny skill i think was a reference to Mouse Trap...
I just love the dragon's first skill. Hilarious xD

@Rakurai309 Zombie's 4th move is reference to the Thriller by Michael Jackson.
Also, I noticed Char's Counter Attack reference from the pig goblin dudes.
There was Portal, and Pacman reference. Awesome.
Apparently Cat riding on Tuna = Nirvash.
Also, The Incredible Machine makes it's return!
@vinnymac102 You know, watching these skills does boost my eagerness to get this game but at the same time it helps my patience to wait a bit longer for it lol.
@pheozero
Both of the mentioned color scheme types are available at certain tiers, as well as from the color shop.
14:55 Omae wa, mou shindeiru
I lol'd at 4:45.
@Hardman5509
Anything , as per usual, though they're most proficient with axes, fists, and guns in that order (Though only in the sense that they learn the weapon skills for those weapons naturally).
And that Dragon Skill I just mentioned actually started from 5:42 onward
Wait... 13:39... Was that a Mario and Luigi: Inside Story reference... Or did Mario and Luigi get that from the same place Disgaea did... Eather way, it's hilarious!
for pop culture references i picked up:
Thriller Zombie
Yuyu Hakusho/Dragonball Dragon
Pac-Man Ghost
Gurren Lagann Plant
Fist of the North Star Nekomata
monsters sure do more useful here than in disgaea 1.
@Sodisna
Sparkling (BGM20 in-game, default Chara World BGM)
Beast King's Claw Mark / 獣王の爪跡 (BGM24, Dark Assembly BGM)
Noble Marble (BGM18)
Right at the start of the Bullet Hell move the character did some weird jumping, was that a reference to something too?
Eryngiis 3rd Move is Ippos Dempsey Roll if I'm not mistaken.
@AndroidPhantom
The mystic beast and nekomata both magichange into fist weapons.
oh my.
so many mecha reference.
Railgun - Gargoyle's last special.
@ventusblade 14:29 was like primary lotus from naruto!
17:15 Misaka Mikoto's Railgun :D
nya-nanananananananananananananananananana-nya!
Nyanko Hyaku Retsu Ken
14:51
@SuperBestes Yes, monsters were fused before magichange.
wow, I doubt 360 could handle these type of animations
@Theespada13 I understand the "Bullet Hell" Touhou reference where the enemies try to dodge the blasts but is the other, the one that's attacking a skull a Touhou reference too?
Prinny's final attack looks like Vaisaga's Code:Kirin.
Baciel's second magic change skill is a GP03 Dendrobrium.
Giga Drill Break by Alraune from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan.
Orc's first magic change skill looks like Voltes V's V no Jigiri.
Did i missed anything ?
Orc’s final attack is similar to the Axis push from Char’s counterattack
i completely missed that reference.
it complete with Psychoframe trail and all that Xb
@Rakurai309
lol That's Disgaea and NIS for ya, they like poking fun at other anime (or game) franchises)
@Rakurai309 I see. Does that mean it's a combination of 2 references in one? Amazing!
In any case, thanks for pointing it out. m(_ _)m
Cool additions but i miss those fire guys from Disgaea 3
I think I saw a Touhou/general bullet hell shooter reference in the first mothman magichange move.
1:56 Would have been so epic if the had put the thriller song, or even the theme.
Was the second Catgirl magichange skill an Ace wo Nerae reference? If so, awesome...
12:25 GIGA DRILL BREAKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@NightmareX7
I think it might have had something to do with the fact that you requested female characters as victims for the attack.
Is it possible to unlock all of the monster classes as soon as you can access the item world?
I heard that was the case in the previous titles, and I don't want to have to wait until the latter half of the story to get a dragon or nekomata.
Hey do you know what weapon the minerva lass is holding in the final spear move and what the move is called?
Sorry wrong video.The specials. -.-
What is the song mainly at the start of the video? :O
I wanna say his second magichange is from Super 17.
@StarforceOnAir I thought that too!
Quick question for the wrong video. What weapons can the mech characters wield?
So I've seen both nekos and succubi both with bodysuits and skin showing. Is it a tier thing or a color thing?
@uagniza
All of them have at least one personality type where they speak.
I hope someone makes a video of how all of the different personality types for the generic classes sound, since I'd like to hear some of them, like the ninja who speaks like a foreigner.
Flora Beast 12:09
12:12 NEVER UNDERESTIMATE PLANTS
17:21 Railgun
1:36 shoop da whoop.
@ThisIsACoolGuy
Well, like D3. It's running under blue-ray
Energyi 3rd comes from a boxing anime.
6:15 mega flare
You know what they should of done that would of been GREAT? They should allow the monsters to custom there magichange so then they can be any weapon with there own special moves for each and THAT would of been great but i hope they do bring DLC.
In speaking of which, do you need giant magichange weapons to perform the 2nd skill? Some, like the Cu Sith, looks like they need to be giant.
I jizzed into my pants when I saw the footage: "Disgaea 4 is a must-get!"
Then I realized I have no PS3: "...damn."
@BassGSnewtype The reference would have been better though if it was Orcs pushing an asteroid into earth instead of the earth being pushed too close to the sun...
Damn orcs never get anything done right...
@NarfLarf Ah, I thought you meant the other one. Not sure about that one.
@PinoyKun32 Ultimate Pringer Beam involves skeleton dragons? Um.
Prinnies kick sooooo much ass in this game! And their skills aren't obsenely close range like in Disgaea 3, too!
Name of musics used in this video? Namely the second one.
10:44 Touhou reference touhou players remember doge the bullets!!!!
Prinnies are really strong
Pythagora swee-tchee~
Hold on isn't that the Dragon Crest from the DQ anime at 6:25?
自分用 5:15
10:48 Why didn't they use one of those defensive screen-clearing abilities?
Not that it matters, since they fail for getting hit by the most simple of patterns...
a question ehm how do you change the color of some of the caracters?
because flonne got different colors, and in a video adell has blue hair and black shirt
@hp0706
Meant to say its second magichange skill.
16:59 Golden Sun.
what
07:27 I am about 80 percent sure that is a Kingdom Hearts reference.
@Rakurai309 Meh, could be, if you take it as such. But, as I said, it was a request, not something that should be taken seriously.
wow some the monster talks!?
lol the 1 of the dragon skill looks like when goku kill piccolo daimaku
15:00 You're already dead.
