      ayyy! that's my man right there haha. I don't post very often, and datsun restoration (while an awesome niche with great people) isn't a very high demand genre of videos. but it means a lot man. I'm new to the car scene, and I have zero car friends in my area. but I'd really like to expand and do build videos and review's with people that actually know their shit.

      do it!! the prices are only going up! just do your homework and try to avoid rusty cars. mine looked relatively good, but had been restored in the 90s I think, they did a terrible job. and now I'm way deeper than I'm comfortable with. either way it's a great journey😂 best of luck on your hunt!

      70s Machines I agree you can't linger.You may want to join a club most Z guys have more then one Z and you never know how much the wife wants them to get rid of that money sucking attention stealer on four wheels .
      cause of sung kang's SEMA win in 2015/16.and more car video games including the Z ( fairlady) in the garages popularity is more then ever .Look in back yards and Craigslist. just get one and rock it!

      this guys channel is really quality work. new dimensions motorsports 280z restoration is good, matted zcar is another good one. turbo z build is pretty good. there's a lot out there haha. I like my style of videos best, but as far as quality of repairs. they actually know what they're doing haha. I have zero knowledge and turn to other videos for advice. or forums. the only thing I do different, is I literally film every second of work I do. which takes me so much more time. but thank you for your support!

    great great funny ass videos.I love the production .After the naval jelly I can't tell what spray bomb you are using but ,reform by Rust-Oleum is kick ass ,in stopping rust. I've been using it for a year and a half and none of the areas on both my Z I'm building have zero return rust..I'm building two resto mod Z cars. at once currently both laying on their sides getting all rust repaired .I also have all the suspension stripped down for repainting and all parts are derust and sprayed with reform to hold them ready for paint.all parts are deep " batman black" If I hadn't started this project with my mind set on two white clones I would leave them in reform just build up a few more coats ,cause it does look kick ass. the stuff sprays thin and watery,then you walk by it later after it dries and you cannot believe it's the same stuff it dries very uniform and good coverage,really is deceiving when you spray it. any way the weekend is always my time to "Z" .Entertaining you are !

    your videos are great man! you deserve a ton more views! I have a '79 280ZX that I'm trying to tinker on and you're giving me some motivation lol keep it up! Also, Where did you get the $30 sand blaster? and whats the pink stuff you put on the rust?

  • @sandlez12
    @sandlez12 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Awesome man, loving the videos! Could you let me know what the product is that your brushing on after sanding the metal? And are you using any regular paint or something specific after? Cheers

    • @bothellpride1994
      @bothellpride1994  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use naval jelly, and just some cheap rust sealing spray paint. I should use por-15. much better product. but it costs like 120 a gallon last time I checked. I'm gonna put another coat of clear acrylic sealer on the frame before I put it back together. just to protect the paint and ensure it's really sealed

      just repairing rust, taking things apart, and being a general badass. My z has rust like yours, I think yours is worse, and I'm afraid to take off body panels. also your music is sweet. :D

    • @bothellpride1994
      @bothellpride1994  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh I feel it man, haha I've had 3 other cars that I wanted to repair, but was always too scared to ruin a decent car by tearing it apart. but after my last failed project, a Volvo 240, I invested 3600$ And still gave up and ended up selling it for 500 bucks last week lol. but I bought this car already destroyed with rust, there's no way to make it worse. so I just dug in haha. also I can't afford to fuck up again lol

    • @saschido_7288
      @saschido_7288 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean Clouse haha lol, but if i'm watching your videos, it's like "sasha u can make it like him, too" . And this is, what is very special with your videos. (and sorry for my english, i'm from germany and i have got a 4 in english at school xD)

    • @bothellpride1994
      @bothellpride1994  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      oh okay, I understand! yeah, everyone does high budget builds. and most people can't afford to do that. yeah, I was thinking about doing a video on the actual costs involved in a restoration like this so others would have a good idea of what they're getting into. and my girlfriend's family is from Germany! I really hope I can go there someday. seems like a beautiful country

    Hey man sick video,
    What did you do to the bare metal once sanding it back? What was the stuff you sprayed then painted on? Thanks 😁

    • @bothellpride1994
      @bothellpride1994  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      be careful man, I actually messed up. I would recommend using ospho for treating rust on bare metal, but I used shitty rustoleom rust preventing paint. that shit will flake off. I'm gonna have to re sand it and use something like por-15. much better product.

    • @jordanb3822
      @jordanb3822 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean Clouse Sean Clouse Thats so annoying i would go mad 😤 haha I'm glad you said that iv just gone an brought myself a lode of por-15 😅

    • @MindDezign
      @MindDezign 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean Clouse I'm sure it wasn't "reform"Its very very very good .you can weld thru it.It doesn't let rust reoccur.And leaves it batman semi black. I'm sure you used another kind of paint like primer. It's the ospho that repels the spray bomb. with " reform" you don't need ospho it is the rust preventer and converter. It's very good stuff.

    Where did you get the sandblasted? I have a 75 280 I am thinking about working on.

    • @bothellpride1994
      @bothellpride1994  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      James Singleton I bought a super cheap one at harbour freight. It works decently enough. But you need a 30gal or bigger air compressor to run it. Mine is only 22 gallons so I can only sandblast for like a minute at a time, then I have to wait 5 minutes for the air compressor to get back up to pressure

    After you sand blasted the sheet metal what did you apply and wipe off on the rusted areas before painting?

    • @bothellpride1994
      @bothellpride1994  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kush Shah I use naval jelly. I leave it on for about 10-15 min. wash it off. dry surface completely, and then paint. but ospho works good too. any type of phosphoric acid will convert rust to rust oxide. Making it turn from Brown to black, stopping the rust. Hopefully lol

    • @bothellpride1994
      @bothellpride1994  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      70 grit aluminum oxide in the blaster, 80 grit (to start with) on the dual action orbital sander, and Idk I just bought the only wire wheel I could find haha. hope that helps
