I've been sectioning the AT for 15 years. I started with a friend who always seemed so unprepared and out of shape, always complaining about the weight, the rain - you name it. We parted ways at Clingman's Dome, and I've never hiked another mile with anyone. A committee of one!

Hey Taylor! Wicked smart doing a morning nero. Hella cute cabin! Dunks was staring at you cause you cheated on them! Good towns seem to always create heavy food carries, Damn town food 😂 thanks for the update on the pack. I’m trying to decide on my new pack and appreciate any info people share. What a beautiful day. Great weather, great views, great mindset. Seriously grade A trail day! I hope you have 97 more! Or less!!! Thank you for all of the hard work with the filming and editing. It has been amazing and we all appreciate it. 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well.

We took our 9-year old daughter on her first backpacking trip a few weeks ago on Beaty Spot. We slept in the meadow at the base of Unaka and she couldn’t believe how quiet it was when we turned off the headlamps- “This has to be the quietest place in the world 🤫”.
(She was cheering that she knew the trail you were on in this episode!)

You coined the phrase, “you pack your fears”. I love that phrase. For me, 25 pounds seems lite on fears. I probably would carry 30 pounds. It is nice to get screen time recognition for your documentary. That is a tribute to your excellence at what you have accomplished. Well done! Happy 350! On feeling lonely, my thoughts are, “I never found a companion that was so companionable as solitude” Henry David Thoreau. Happy trails!

Enjoyed this video and your thoughts on whether camping alone is worth it. It's always a compromise when you are with other people, so there's always that decision as to whether to just go it alone and have everything your own way or whether to compromise to be with others. It's often a difficult decision.

Wow this video was a nice change of pace since you stayed at a tent site alone. Stay safe Taylor. When I did that section several years ago, I camped two nights alone and two nights by people by shelters. Backpacking in Pennsylvania, I almost always end up alone. It's definitely more relaxing being near other campers. I am 15 minutes from the PA AT. I will definitely reach out to you when you get closer.

Hey there, been watching your vids for a few years and trying to gain the confidence to do the whole trail someday. I have perceived you as a "hiking unicorn" with no fear so it was nice to hear you in this vid share some of your "human" qualities such as fear (fear of silence or fear of being alone). Wishing you safety and good times moving forward. Now off to my 60 min hike locally, lol

I love Survivor and have been watching since Season 1. I even applied a few times to be on it maybe 10 years ago but was never called. Now that I think about it, I would be terrible at it for the same reasons as you but I do enjoy watching all the lying and backstabbing that goes on. That was a really nice shot of the moon. When I hiked the AT, I was alone and didn't have a hiking partner and I realized later that I really do need a hiking partner or someone to see at the end of the day. I like hiking alone but it just feels better if there's someone you know that will be at your destination. John from MI

You're crushing it so far - keep it up! Have you noticed that your attitude towards how far you've gone or how much remains has changed since you've completed it previously? And if you wanted to, are you able to choose to camp at "the beauty spot", or are you only "allowed" to camp at specific areas? I can't imagine that I get to the overlook and don't decide to stay there for the night (unless there was a "miles completed" issue). Also, agree with you about Survivor - I've watched every season and would love to actually be on the show, but I wouldn't be any good at it and am sure I wouldn't last long. Plus, I'm not enough of a "personality" to get chosen in the first place... :-) Lookin forward to your updates!

I am guessing this hike will be very different. You are doing great. Maybe more mental this time out as you have already completed this hike before. Its not a question if you can do it I would think, but maybe how can it be better than last time. Having a familiar face at the end of the day like you had before would be huge in my opinion. It is way early in your hike and you have time to develope a friend of tramily. I hope you find a person to jell with out there. I know I would want one. This was a very good down to earth video. I love hearing about what is going on for real with people and you are good at telling us. I am rooting for you for so many different reasons. Be brave and strong. You are already smart lol.

I have only done one long hike solo. I really enjoyed it. Some nights there were people around, which was nice, but it was also nice being all alone. I think it would be hard to find someone exactly matching a hiker style; you just have to compromise. And for a few days that would probably be great. But for 2000 miles...that would be tough!
