- Watch over 31 different Bulldog Armoured Personnel Carriers with the British Army arriving in Parsberg, Germany by train for participation in Exercise Combined Resolve.
The FV430 series of Armoured Personnel Carrier have been in service with the British Army since the 1960s. During conflicts in the Middle East they were up-armoured and modified to be known as 'Bulldog', which the British Army have now adopted as the name for the type. They transport personnel across the battlefield for various duties, and often operate behind the FV510 Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicle and the FV4034 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank.
The type have been transported by train (the DB Class 232) via the channel tunnel from the UK to Germany as part of major NATO Exercise Steadfast Defender, before then participating in the US-Army led Exercise Combined Resolve at the Hohenfels Training Area in Bavaria, Germany. This is happening while other armoured units are deployed elsewhere on separate exercises. They are participating along with Challenger 2 tanks and Warrior fighting vehicles of the 12th (UK) Armoured Brigade Combat Team. The US Army's 101st Airborne Division, 2nd Romanian Infantry Division and many other NATO allies are also participating.
Exercise Steadfast Defender is the largest NATO military exercise to be held since the Cold War. Over 90,000 troops are participating with several other exercises taking place within Steadfast Defender, such as Defender Europe and Grand Quadriga. Armed forces have traveled by road, sea and air all across Europe and the North Atlantic.

if i am not mistaken the FV432 was assembled at ROF Barnbow Leeds, I believe we made some of the parts for these vehicles when i worked at GKN Kirkstall Forge leeds in the late 70s.
The training area is not too far from the railway yard, which explains the same military cop car each time. I had a look at the station on street view and there was a load of American armour on a train when the images were being taken. Thank you. Interesting stuff!
Right? It's quite a straight forward operation moving them from the train station to the training area. There's lots of videos and photos out there of this operation taking place with many NATO forces. I saw the US armor on streetview and thought it was cool! Thank you.

...if you saw military equipment being moved for an exercise? Or saw this large amount of military equipment being moved? I've never seen this much at a time. But I frequently did see columns of APCs and trucks with tanks passing by where I grew up. There was a military training ground 20 kms away. But it was never on this big scale.

@@Karen-ew9zn Don't worry. This exercise is a long planned part of the overall "Steadfast Defender Excercise" that lasts for 6 or is it 9 months? Another sub-exercise was "Nordic Response" that took place all through the spring up in Norway (and other places up north?). I.d.k. if it's over yet. Many tens of thousands participated up there. But all these exercises have been long planned and long announced. It's a year ago I first heard about them.
@@Karen-ew9zn ...I do agree that we are in a sort of war. At least the other side thinks of it like that. Though they only use their weapons in Ukr. Let's hope it stays like that. Exercises are necessary for the military to be ready and know they can cooperate. This readiness can deter the adversary from escalating and start a real war. If we never had exercises we would have real war much sooner, and we would lose it. Exercises can help to stop wars from beginning in the first place.
I hope those FV 432 's have been updated and modernised since i last had the misfortune to sit in the back of one for hour after hour day after day in the mid 80's ! I mean they were at the end of their lifespan then . They were unreliable relics then . But sadly that train load of nicely looking olive drab scrap is probably exactly the same as i had to sit in with absolutely no armour enhacements at all . Good old UK Government , probably brought them out of long term reserve storage in Monchengladbach . Politicians really are tossers ! And out of touch MOD procurement departments come a close second . I mean i left Germany in 1989 and we are still using some of the the same equipment , talk about getting your monies worth . After watching the vdeo to the end they are antiquated pieces of junk they don't even have any gun mounted for self protection or to protect the infantry as they dismount . And as someone mentioned further down the replies, why oh why are they phasing out warrior when one the reasons they wanted warrior was because the 432 was far too slow to keep up with the Challenger 1 on the battlefield. No doubt some MOD desk jockey who has never been in the field or had to work with outdated equipment.
Slightly upgraded for use in Afghanistan but a waste of effort and money due to it's aged design.

My father served in the armoured engineers. He joined up in 1966 and told us that he trained with weapons from ww2. It's the make do attitude.

RSW 680 war flats for the MBTs and the 432s…..takes me back 44 years when I worked in the Soltau Det of the RCT as a Mov Con. Then, I operated on Barrl railhead, the spur onto the SLTA. Great days working with the DB…..a fantastic rail operator. E reg 432s……older than Jesus. I note no chocks on the low loaders; just lashing straps….oh well.

@@ginabrierley9925 @27:55, 4 ratchet straps on a 15 ton vehicle, very reassuring, and look how high up the strap crossover is in the front !, that would never prevent that vehicle from side slipping in an emergency stop.
Great days working with Deutsche Bahn. Today a nightmare. There was a time when DB was 100% and absolute punctual. Today punctuality is next to non existent and some train are stuck somewhere and are not showing up at all. Even the time to use a train to the airport is over, because you can not depend on it to arrvie on time or at all .This is from a German in Canada
@@anthonylewis679 correct…..four wooden nailed chocks or four steel spiked. For a Combat Engineer Tractor (CET R E) it was also four lateral wooden chocks on the inside of the tracks too.
I drove them in the late 60s 06 EA 45 great APC's to drive and the were very reliable crossed deep rivers in them yes they could swim.

I swear, people these days are either as dumb as a doorknob or outright ignorant. Read the description - these APCs aren't being used for Ukraine; they're being used for Exercise Steadfast Defender between Germany, the UK, Poland, US, and other NATO members.
Which means, they will be used in Ukraine. Eventually
I've been watching these videos for the last few days trying to figure out what's actually happening. The descriptions do say they're participating in NATO training exercises but also if they were staging for actual war they wouldn't broadcast it. I'm not trying to get into an internet argument here, just looking for information.

I was under the 'Bulldog' was the "up armoured" with corrugated cardboard model developed for I-raq rather than these ancient RAMC (etc) 432s. Calling these Bulldog as well isnt going to give them any more bite.

They're marked as ambulances (like half of them) in that role they can still serve OK...

The paradox that this particular set is being pulled by a Russian-produced locomotive from the October Revolution Locomotive Factory in Voroshilovgrad (USSR, now Luhansk where a war is ongoing in Ukraine). These locomotives are commonly referred to among railway workers and rail enthusiasts as Ludmila. / Greetings from Poland ;) .
Are the Helos overhead part of this transportation process? Are they ' on guard duty's, so to speak? I am in the US and this scares the hell out of me. Are we really this close to war?

Remember, the FV432 and family of vehicles was originally intended to be fully replaced by Warrior MCV and variants in the early 1990s... Remember the Warrior MCV was supposed to be replaced by the AJAX and FRES... Etc. Etc.

The armoured vehicles 432 series of ARV's were out of date during the First Gulf War 1990-1991. They barely managed during the Cold War 1970s to 1990s. With luck all the old armoured vehicles have been given to Ukraine to fight the Russian occupying forces. Now British and NATO countries have helped defend Ukraine. It is time that all NATO and especially the British Armed Forces replaced all armoured vehicles with new generation armoured vehicles, plus add additional vehicles to rebuild our 7th Armoured Brigade (Desert Rats) and front line defence forces once again. We British UK 🇬🇧 Armed Forces should never have left Germany, Netherlands 🇧🇪, Belgium 🇧🇪, and France 🇫🇷 . Immediately we left at the end of the Cold War, because each mainland country wanted to be free of American , British, and Canadian forces who had defended their countries in two World Wars, and during a long Cold War. Mainland Europe seems unwilling to defend against the Russian threat of invasion 🤔? Which is fine, but you again expect thousands of British Armed Forces, and called up civilians to fight and die to free you from autocratic domination in Northern Europe, and American forces to defend Southern Germany, Belgium, and France. Removing each of us has left a power vacuum in Europe, one that can never be filled because the American, British and Canadian (ABC) have a mentality to fight and win hard fought wars. Whereas Europe seems not willing to defend against invading forces, twice from Germany. Europe has became vulnerable again and Vladimir Putin and Russian military will soon gain strength 💪 and continue invading more satellite countries until he thinks he can take European Union, especially now the British Armed Forces have reduced manpower to minimise costs at the risk of war. Yes, all our armoured vehicles need replacing and kept in fighting condition.

None of them has drone protection steel bar strips which takes a small metal shop about a day to refit I just see a Mickey Mouse mesh on top of the armoured vehicles this is absolutely bad planning and management from the commanders and shows a lack of understanding or total stupidity of the new demands in battlefields they will be all wasted in any little engagement

It wasn't just us Germans (Merkel Administration) who ruined our own army by cutting costs, you Brits also thought that the bases in Germany were no longer needed and that you would rather save the money. And you can see from the vehicles that your armed forces don't seem to be up to date either...
