Kaithi is a 2019 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It is produced by S. R. Prakash Babu and S. R. Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures and co-produced by Tiruppur Vivek under Vivekananda Pictures. It stars Karthi in the lead role, along with Narain, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, George Maryan, and Dheena in pivotal roles. It serves as the first installment in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. In the film, a recently released prisoner races against time to drive unhealthy cops to a hospital in exchange for meeting his daughter while evading criminals chasing him.

Leo not exactly very connected but can definitely be watched in that order as a stand alone film.
@@--MelonMusk It's just your opinion. The majority loved Vikram. That's why it broke all the records and also it has a great IMDb score of 8.3. Tamil industry was struggling to give a proper good movie back then due to continuous bad movies like Annaatthe, Beast, Valimai and etc. Everyone was like Tamil cinema industry is dead. Bahubali 2 was the highest grosser in Tamil Nadu (this was embarrassing to Tamil cinema industry as Tamil movies couldn't beat a Telugu movie's record in TN itself for 5 years). When everyone lost hope, Vikram got released, got rave reviews, broke all the records, and become an industry hit. I still respect your opinion, but I don't agree with it.

@9:35 Prison Inmates are not allowed to keep Long hair or Beard inside Indian Prisons, they have to be cleaned shaved and trimmed hair. exceptions are given in special cases depending on inmate conducts or court order under medical or on religious beliefs like Muslims to keep beards or Sikhs to keep Long Hair, and Hindus who are under pilgrimage vows like the character in the movie.

Lokesh, the director, has mentioned that Die Hard is a major inspiration for the "man stuck in a wrong place at a wrong time" plotting of this movie.
dude the basic story of kaithi is copied from conair, its the same story, you can see many plot points exactly the same, lokesh mixed conair with assault on precinct 13 and kaithi happened, i loved kaithi too so no offence.. just clarifying for you

@@prathapcharan so? there are only a few tropes in world cinema. whgat i said was con air and kaithi has almost the same plot or arc of main character even his sentiments, you mix con air with attack on precinct 13 that is kaithi.
@@devanvarma1056 OP's point was that both John mcclane who is the protoganist of die hard and Dilli are similar in the sense they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Die hard was the movie which popularised the trope. Under siege, con air, cliffhanger, flight 57 etc are different die hard variants. You can search for 'die hard in an X' movie trope.

Just to clarify, why don't most of the bad guys use guns in Indian movies? It's not easy to get guns in India, and we don't see them commonly. The gunfights you see in Indian movies are mostly inspired by Western themes. Therefore, knife and sword fights are common in Indian cinema (they also look cool), and we are accustomed to this style, so we don't notice the difference.
Regarding the subtitle for addressing someone as 'bro,' the word 'anna' (which means older brother) can also be used to address someone you respect or consider a superior instead of using 'sir.' Anna is informal but respectful.

When you guys will watch "Vikram" I am sure you guys will be blown by screenplay , camera work , acting and background music / song . Music is a well amalgamation of Indian + Western music. This whole movie was about an incident happened in one single night. No nudity, no dance only pure entertainment. Lokesh kanagarage and SS Rajamouli are my top 2 directors in "whole" Indian movie industries.

@@AniMangHwa_Hirani doesnt get himself into action or epic periodic movies as SSR... Hirani makes light hearded movies that are simple and close to the heart...Films like 3 idiots, pk or Munna bhai mbbs are much better movies than Bahubali or RRR or Eega in terms of story telling...But SSR does very good in technical aspects which make everyone say "wow" and turned many heads in the west towards Indian cinema.
Even thought I dont like to compare, but at the end of the day I will take Hirani's side no matter what. (And Im not a North Indian by the way and I dont even know Hindi)

So glad you guys liked this! It reminded me a lot of 90s action flicks with unique, more mundane plots and really compact pacing. Not everything has to be the end of the world, but you still felt how high the stakes were for Dilli.

Most of South Indian movies are Story driven. Because Indian Audiences especially South Indian audiences won’t accept Actions in movies for no reason & Unnecessarily. action and violence and everything got to have a Solid reason for it to be in the movie and the plot and Circumstances of plot got to have that requirements for certain actions & Violence. Basically everything got to makes sense with the Story of the movie and Logical.
If they avoid mainstream Tamil cinema there is some good gems

So the translation was correct prisoners cant have beard because they can identify the prisoners easily if they had escaped.but he can have a bread because of his pilgrimage.(p.s i never expect u would react to this movie)

About the sand and dust fight scene you are talking about... They shot the scene in 2 locations because of lighting and all and both the locations were almost samilar looking, but the director and action director loaded bags of dirt from the 1st location and used it in second location so that even the colour of dirt won't varry. That's sheer commitment to the craft.
bros three of you really have the film knowledge. you understand the reality of scripted fight scenes vs raw and gretty fight scenes, indian movies are full of grate fight scenes.
Kaithi second part is most awaiting movie in India and it's directed and written by Lokesh kanakaraj, mainly part of LCU
If you enjoy parental love-driven movies, then you should consider the Jersey (Tollywood) movie; it will make you tear up because that movie endures a hell of a emotional rollercoaster.
Jersey telugu version would be amazing to watch ....acting skills are top notch

Finallyyyy 😁 I expected you to enjoy it but you loved it even more than what I thought! Hopefully you'll watch Vikram soon, which I think is even superior to Kaithi. Then there is a 3rd movie in the same universe, Leo, recently released, and there's the stand alone movie Master by the same director that you would probably enjoy too.
Something else to consider watching when it comes to Indian content is the Amazon Prime series The Family Man (2 seasons) and Farzi (1 season) both by the same duo of directors. It's well shot action with a good dose of humour. Right up your alley I think 😊

Love that you guys occasionally do Indian movies. I would love it if you guys got around sometime to covering Bollywood’s cinematic universe of movies dubbed the Spy Universe (Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and the upcoming Tiger 3). I can pretty much guarantee you guys will have an absolute blast with them.
