Whisky.com reviews the Craigellachie Exceptional Cask 37 Years 1984 / 2023. This Craigellachie from the Exceptional Cask Series is produced as a limited batch. The unique specimen matured for 37 long years in Scottish refill casks and was refined in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks before it was bottled neither chill-filtered nor coloured with increased alcohol content.

It's about covering a wide spectrum of whiskies. Horst does entry level stuff too. But I know plenty of people who will blow a few thousand on a good dram so videos like this are priceless.

No bottoms up…? That’s such an outstanding whisky indicator from the Master. Ouch, I’m not sure - even as much of a fan as I am of Craigellachie. There is not much room for error at $3K+
At least now we know what happened to that 31 that never materialized after the review.

Thank you for a beautiful review of a whiskey that’s almost as old as I am, hah.

Really informative vlog about this 37yr old Whisky.
€3000 is a lot of money but you are paying for history.
Mid 1980s the Whisky industry lost many distilleries due to a sales slump.
A few made a come back but many didn’t and were lost.
This whisky is from that era so it’s a fair price.
I myself could never afford a bottle at that price.
The small bottle you have, would those be available for us mere mortals?
Just to taste a 37yr old without getting a divorce would be superb.

Unfortunately, we only got this small bottle to try this whisky. We would never open such an expensive whisky just for a video.

For me, IF all the "recycled/reused" casks did not do the job after 36 years, to a point where they had to use virgin oak to "lift" the taste, sounds like mystery/job not well done, and if this is an overpriced 37 year old, I would definitely NOT be spending any money on it. I would rather just have a Deanston Virgin Oak in its place, much more affordable & still great tasting.

How long can I keep my bottles of scotch after opening. Should I limit the amount of bottles I open?

Whisky is stored standing up. However, unlike wine, whisky in unopened bottles does not get better (or worse) when stored. The whisky must not be exposed to direct sunlight. Otherwise it will fade. A bar compartment or box protects the whisky from light. In this way, storage for more than 10 years is quite possible. However, the liquid level will decrease during this time due to slight evaporation via the cork. If you would like to know more about this, you can find out more on the information page of our website. Here the link: www.whisky.com/how-long-does-whisky-keep-in-a-bottle.html

@@Whiskycom actually my question is about once I open it. How long is it good for?

If stored away from sunlight, i would say you can enjoy it for about a year. Thats my experience. Also the taste changes slightly due to more and more air will come in contact with the liquid.
