Apparently the one time X-6 isn't a murdering machine is when his fear of heights kicks in.

He talks about how dying in a plane crash is the worst way to die so yeah he has a fear of heights
If you try to go swim to a location and he's with you, he says he hates water almost as much as heights.
So vertibird travel is gonna big fear, it definitely involves heights, often higher than the highest buildings or terrain, and at least has a high probability to be above water at least part of the time too.
Its more surprising seeing Cait so excited to fly, considering how negative she can get about stuff like taking shortcuts using tunnels or highways, talking to strangers, entering a building she's not familiar with, helping anyone.....not helping anyone, not taking shortcuts, talking to people she DOES know....
....basically she's a sour bitch about most things, at least half the time, and this only changes a little once you get her clean, not greatly. There's times she's worse than Piper, hell almost worse than Marcy.
But take her on a joyflight and she's virtually squeal clapping. It's almost too out of character, if I was really in that scenario, with a real Cait, having heard weeks of her pessimism, months even, ever since I knew her, and she suddenly got that excited about something that wasn't money guns drugs or sex, I'd put a bullet in her.....
....clearly she's been replaced by a Synth!

We should fly these more often, would be much easier to protect our settlements since we'd have a good view point of the incoming invaders. While I was on the Vertibird, I spotted a nearby settlement having a fight over stolen dildos, I'll mark it on your map.

Anyone else feel that the Vertibirds are pretty useless, though? Yes, they can take you anywhere you want to go, but they can only take you to exact locations you've already discovered, which means you could just fast travel there. It'd be different if they could take you places you haven't been yet, or drop you off where ever you choose. I guess they could be really useful in the upcoming Survival mode though, since fast travel's disabled.
The only thing I found it useful for would be if you are transferring a lot of stuff to a different settlement, and you can't fast travel.
