    You're a G Casey! 😎 We appreciate you hustling out there to make it out there in time to inform/represent us Oakland fans and asking the tough questions. That look in Kaval's eye while you were questioning him said everything 👀 And Fisher hightailing it out of there is a coward move, no accountability! It's pitiful that the Kings owner would interject himself (with the blessings of the Giants btw) to do this to this fan base here when they clearly KNOW BETTER. It's also ridiculous to insinuate the "possibilty" of an expansion team in Sacramento when Oakland couldn't even get those assurances. Another layer to this is IF the deal in Vegas falls apart does Manfred allow them to stay there?? And the timing of that mic... Priceless. God don't like ugly. We deserve a genuine resolution from MLB. KC got the Royals soon after the A's came to Oakland and if there's any place deserving of better treatment after this whole ordeal of being dragged thru the mud it's us.

    • @HeyUncleA
      @HeyUncleA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Deserving of better treatment? The entitlement is real out there. That’s why I left the bay had kids and retired young in sac. I think you guys need to fix your city first before you get a new team. My mom still lives there and I love Oakland but really? You’re mad at the A’s for leaving the crime, homeless, encampments, boycotting fans, traffic, and stray bullets on the freeway. Only Bay Area people over look these things; it’s stressful and not worth it to most people. Most Americans that value their lives avoid Oakland and the Bay Area. Are you upset in and out burger and Dennys left too?

      Yes he already agreed… he just didn’t want to spend money in Oakland because the fans boycott and dont ever fill the park. The river cats have more fans than the A’s. So even if they do leave they’re fixing the stadium for the river cats worse case scenario. This guy is down playing the 100mil EXTRA on top of the regular rent they agreed upon. It went from 100 to maybe 60 mil after the A’s already decided to leave. They wanted to negotiate and the A’s weren’t having any of it. Idk how they can justify asking for more when the venue never fills and the fans are against the team. As a Sacramentan, I'm sure that the team owners will be telling Las Vegas they need more public, or other people's money put into the Las Vegas ballpark or else they'll keep the A's in Sacramento, (Actually West Sacramento... different city, different county...)while telling Sacramento that "we" need to pay for bringing Sacramento's ballpark up to MLB standards or we'll lose "our" A's. The Las Vegas area (actually Summerlin...)already has a minor baseball team, the Las Vegas Aviators, (which is affiliated with the A's...) and a ballpark that looks comparable to the one in Sacramento. The A's could have moved there, but then they wouldn't have two metro areas to play off against each other for the privilege of funding professional baseball ballpark construction costs.

      @@elisemariecollinsyoga5905 And before John Fisher we had his partner Lew Wolf who tried to move the team 2 times (Fremont & San Jose). Then they switched strategies - came up with a "Rooted in Oakland" campaign because so many fans were alienated from the attempts to move. They did no research and tried to move to the Peralta site in Oakland but there is a college already there. Duh. Then. Then the Howard Terminal site was selected. And a $ 1 billion dollar price tag for the "project". If it were just a ballpark, Oakland came up with the money. It was the other $500 million for the retail space, condos, office spaces, that Oakland didn't have the money (right away) on. But? They were still negotiating. And out of the blue Fisher pulls out. They'd beem closer than it ever was. Both sides admit that.
      So? 20 years (as you say) was on the brink of bearing fruit of a deal done finally. And then this kick in the nuts.
      Even so there are other locals who would have stepped up to purchase the team and keep here. Honestly isn't that a more palatable solution. Teams should not move from a location is there are other buyers willing to "save the team." Right? Remember MLB had to buy the Expos (and re-brand as Nationals) bc nobody in Montreal wanted to step up. In those cases ok. But having a team leave and like this is pisspoor. Bad bad bad. No city or locale needs to suffer it. If it were your team, you'd feel the same way. But its not so? Empathy be damned right?

If Vegas falls through, Fisher can pitch MLB to stay in Sac working with Vivek and the City to build a new stadium. The ownership might be ripping our team away from us, but they will never, can never take away all of our fond memories of better times at the ballpark. Joy, sorrow, bonding, escaping from the stresses of life and just having a good time at the ballgame watching the boys on the baseball diamond. Win or lose, a good time was had, and that can't be stripped away. It sucks that this is what it all boils down to in the end, but as bittersweet as it is, and will be for a long time to come, we have memories that will never die.
    As for what we do moving forward, that still remains to be seen, and everyone has their own solutions. Some will continue to support the A's regardless of where they call home. Others will jump ship and give their loyalty to the Giants. There may be fans who invest their time into the Ballers and see how that pans out. A pocket of the fanbase will swear off baseball, or at least MLB, once and for all, and then there are probably gonna be fans who just drift around until they find a new team they feel good rooting for and settle there. It's even possible that some of us will wait until the league expands, if/whenever that happens, and latch onto one of the new teams that enter the league. And then there are the fans who, in spite of all of these options and all the time that's gone by, don't quite know what they'll do just yet. At least that's my take on the roads that lay ahead of us as fans.
    For me personally, baseball has meant so much to me throughout my life that I don't think I can just swear it off completely. On top of that, I've always loved and felt most at home in the Bay Area, for better or worse, so my most likely paths involve either the Giants, the Ballers, or perhaps both. I guess only time will tell. In the event a grand once-in-a-lifetime miracle ever actually ended up happening and Oakland got an expansion team, there's no doubt I'd jump right on board in a hot second. Sadly I do not foresee that outcome playing out, but I suppose one never really knows.

    lol, Oakland was a great market or is a great market all you have to do is invest when Mr. Haas owned the athletics three World Series in the playoffs and the stadium was full. He gave back to the community. they would out draw the Giants. Those are some great days and now you have a carpet, bagger, sad, ending for such a great historic franchise.⚾️❤️

    Fischer doesn't owe the media a chance to beat up on him in person. As far as Vivek getting "nothing" out of this without a guarantee, auditions don't come with guarantees. At worst, he's gonna pocket mucho dinero from various stadium revenue streams over the next 3-4 years, plus KEEP all MLB/A's facility improvements.

    Oakland in 2024 will experience Milwaukee in 1965. The Braves wanted to go to Atlanta in '65, but a judge ruled they had to honor their lease at County Stadium, so Bud Selig's original favorite team had a lame duck season, just like A's fans will now. And Sacramento will have for at least the next three seasons. (Manfred's word is just about as good as Fisher's or Kavel's.)
    If MLB expands, it will be to Nashville and Utah, where there are people in place to pay the exorbitant franchise fee the owners want to charge. ($1 billion, at minimum.) If Vegas impedes (which happens often there these days, as will occur later this year at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue), one of those cities will get the A's, not Sacramento -- and definitely NOT Oakland. Montreal has a better chance of seeing a rebirth of the Expos.

    Does part of the blame go to MLB, the City of Las Vegas, and/or the State of Nevada for causing such a long "lame duck" status? Shouldn't the MLB commissioner and owners have demanded that LV/Nevada offer a suitable temporary stadium before they approved the move? Or at least let Fisher to move the Athletics to a city that had one? Perhaps Montreal? Olympic Stadium is not a perfect venue, but it would be adequate for a few years. At least the A's players will likely play in front of large, enthusiastic crowds in Sacramento, even if only temporarily.

  • @jonathanrice1070
    @jonathanrice1070 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Since the Nevada vote, I think people have been clinging to any hope that maybe one of the remaining obstacles (permits, owners vote, union agreements…) would derail the move. The latest chapter has been negotiations over a lease extension with Oakland. It seemed like they might be coming to some sort of resolution. Then Sacramento waltzes in and it’s over. The A’s are gone in 6 months. Pro sports in Oakland are a thing of the past, only this time it’s really over.

    I don’t understand all the Sacramento hate from Casey and Oakland fans. Vivek is his own person, a Bay Area billionaire mind you, that got involved with Sacramento to make money developing the city. MLB has demonstrated every desire to get out of Oakland and the city made outrageous demands to keep the team there during interim years despite several obstacles in the way of making Vegas ever happen, the least of which is having a place to play until the stadium gets built
    Queue Vivek/Sacramento which has wanted to add another professional team, not just baseball, for several decades. Now Sacramento has a chance to have a second pro sports team for a few years that will pay for upgrades to their facility to mlb standards, allow the city to show it can support another team, put the city in conversation for expansion which it would not otherwise be in, and put themselves in conversation to keep the team if/when Vegas falls through.
    Don’t blame sac for Oakland trying to make demands from someone and entity whom want nothing to do with Oakland. Oakland could’ve made a reasonable offer that would’ve maintained revenue for the city, kept themselves in good graces with mlb for expansion, and kept Oakland in the conversation in case Vegas falls through but in an imagined fear of getting played by fisher, they just played themselves

    I have a strange feeling that Sacramento is the final destination. They said they weren’t going by “Sacramento A’s or Sacramento Athletics”…why trademark them?
    Also, if you’re willing to play in a minor league ballpark, why not Las Vegas? Why not spend the next three years establishing yourselves in your “new home”? Building relationships and a fan base? The Chargers played at a soccer stadium for crying out loud. And you can’t tell me it’s about the TV deal alone. They have to work out a Las Vegas deal at some point.

    I love the owner of the Sacramento Kings. I mean he is thinking that he can have the As play in his minor league ballpark for three or four years and if things don’t go well he can buy the franchise or get an expansion franchise if the As do make it in Las Vegas. Well get in line buddy because you have not only individuals in the Bay Area like Joe Lacob, but Salt Lake City, Portland and even Montreal trying to get one of the two expansion franchises if and when expansion does occur. Without any assurances you cannot guarantee that you are going to have an MLB franchise in Sacramento. So, we shouldn’t be surprise if Sacramento doesn’t get a baseball team in the end. This could be all for nothing for Vivek. Doing favors for your friends can be a terrible idea and can even ruin friendships if things don’t work out well. What a joke.

    As a Sacramento native and a lifelong A’s and Kings fan, I may be done with both teams. John Fisher and Dave Kaval are both huge piles of shit, and Vivek just became the biggest hypocrite in pro sports. It’s like he forgot the Kings were all but gone from Sacramento before he bought the team and kept them here, how could he then help rip another team from its home for over 50 years? On the A’s front, this team has been a disgrace under John Fisher, if MLB had a real commissioner this wouldn’t be happening, they would have made him sell years ago. This whole situation is awful all around and really shows that pro sports have become nothing but a money grab. Shameful all around.

      On the other hand, MLB owners unanimously approved the A's relocation to Las Vegas. Unanimous. The A's were basically gone
