Ashley was born and raised in Bow. My cousins actually live in his old flat now. His mum worked in my school, lovely lady. Was in year 7 when Ash made his debut. Football meant a lot more to him than the money and fame. In and around that time all the talk in East London was about Joe Cole. Use to watch Joe play for West Ham u19s. Crazy talented.
Ashley’s outstanding, almost faultless, performances capped with his penalty, in Chelsea’s champions league win was the definition of ‘clutch’. Who expects their left back to have such finesse and balls of steel. What a player he was. The best. Always remember Joe goal/winner against Utd in 09/10 (2-1). That flick gave us the title. Everyone remembers the final day of the season but this was really where we won it. Incredible.
Amazing. I remember both these boys coming through as youngsters. Never would have thought they would grow up and become legends for Chelsea. Thank you for the amazing careers you’ve had lads. Absolute legends
People who do not live in England & that was not born and raised here will not understand the magic of the fa cup. It's always newer generations & foreign fans who live abroad who down play the fa cup. Before the Internet, The FA cup was special to us. This is how I became a Chelsea fan as kid in 1997 watching it on those old fat TV in my living room. We only had 4 TV channels back then too.
What I really enjoy is when you see ex players remembering and recounting every single detail about moments in their career. Like it was yesterday. Ingrained in the Brain. I just love it. These boys and the likes of Peter Crouch. It all mattered. These 2 should be regular. Double Cole aceness 💙
My first memory of FA cup final, surely chelsea vs Middlesbrough back in 1997. I was starstrucked witnessing Gianfranco Zola then. In the early years of premier league, most of Malaysian were the fanatic supporters of united or Liverpool. But for myself, i fell in love with a football club donning the blue shirt. In 1990s, we rarely had the luxury of live broadcast of English football match. Only on Tuesday evening, a show of weekly highlights aired on one of local tv station. Till now, I'm blue and will always be blue.
I don’t need to ask cr7 , I watched with my own eyes and saw Ashley Cole shut him down time and time again. The only time I remember him scoring vs them was in the ucl final and that was essien playing on his side
I remember as a 9 year old kid waiting for the FA Cup final 94’ Chelsea v United. Tears in my eyes to see the result. I got Ethan Pinnock (Brentford player) brother. (United fan) at my place. Mental. That was the season i first started supporting CFC after two 1-0 victories against United in the league. Losing that day made me have a profound hatred for United. More so than Arsenal or spurs or Liverpool to be honest
The most memorable and first real memory for me was 87 I was 14 and it was Coventry and Spurs Wow what a game and what a final. I was so happy to see the sky blues won it against the odds. That marked the magic for me .
Hell yes. I was 7 years old. Fucking brilliant. Then we had the Wimbledon win the year after and another class final in 89. Stuart mccall at the death. Extra time devastation. Coyb 💙
Joe next meeting please ask Ashley this question CHELSEA OR ARSENAL?? I’m tired of arguing with arsenal fans that he is ours or theirs You would save me time and energy thank you both for putting smiles on our faces
It was 10 years after Gazza freekick that Cashley first played in an FAcup final (not 13). Also he's sat there talking about the old Wembley but he never won it there lol and his first 4 finals was in Cardiff.
They said the same thing Roy Keane did, but people dismissed Keane for saying playing seriously is wrong. How ridiculous, not just in football but work in general.
Would have wanted them to speak about everything not just FA Cup. Need to start their own one! Even tho it was Cashly Hole was heartbroken when he left Arsenal
The two of CFC legend they are first who break Barcelona FC which full of world football super star players like Ronaldinho, Xavi, Inesta, Eto, Poyul and Messi.
Maybe you should give a minute or two to talk about new Arsenal set piece tactics. This is a daylight robbery mate, I don't think this is how to play football in anyway bruh!! Shoving and blocking a goalkeeper isn't a foul. You can only see this in English football 😅
What was your FIRST EVER FA Cup memory? 🤔
Giggsy against arsenal 🎉
@@jonnycrow7460 wow, one of the great FA Cup goals 👏
@@footballsgreatestpod Man utd vs Chelsea - 4 - 0 - same as Joe
Keith Houchen diving header is a big memory but earliest one was Ricky Villa - what a goal
Worst memory Stevie G equalising to make it 3-3 vs West Ham - I was gutted
Ashley Cole GREATEST leftback in Premier league history. Hands down! Two Great Chelsea icons 💙 much love, Joe!
Denis Irwin was better.
world history
Many good left backs. Irwin, Winterburn, Le Saux, Pearce, Evra..... Chelsea won the league with Gallas playing left back.
@@Johnjrambo75 Irwin was class, but Ashley was better. I'm Irish.
You not seen Luke shaw mate
He broke my heart when he joined Chelsea, but I always admired him as a player. Greatest left-back in English football history.
Thats an British like comment about every average English player.
In his words, he went to Chelsea to win things. And, the rest they say is history. Once a 🔵 ALWAYS a 🔵
I watched him play at the Bridge for Arsenal, then he joined the Chels, best left back I have every seen.

Leeds fan but loved this Jose team. Ruthless mentality

Really good podcast - two great footballers talking about the game they both love - fantastic

Never knew joe was a cfc fan as a kid 💙💙💙
Growing up i lied to my little brother that these two had the same dad, different mums like us and he bought it😂
This was actually a thoroughly enjoyable episode, particularly enjoyed hearing the early experiences/throwback memories of Ashley too.
Didn’t like him for 20 years but I’m enjoying listening to Ash Cole. Comes across genuine and good to see his personality come through.
Good to have you on board Bob 👏
Why didn’t you like him for 20 years?
@ Utd fan and I thought he always came across as arrogant and not very bright - turns out it’s quite the opposite!

Joe Cole could of been a legend if didn't go to Chelsea under Jose
Joe "Yeah" count = 1 million.
Asking “did we win the game?” after saying Drogba scored.
Drogba won & scored in every FA Cup Final (4) he played 🔵 done dusted 🏆

New school fans disrespect the FA Cup too much for my liking. I feel like it’s the Arsenal agenda that led to fans disrespecting the FA Cup.
Gerrard vs West Ham
