    I bought this exact car (minus the fog lamps) brand new back in 06, I drove it daily for 6 years and it was an EXCELLENT car, I never had one single mechanical issue in all the years I owned it. Anyone who is thinking of buying one is making a great choice. I now own a 2012 Si coupe but I still think this is the better looking car.

    Hey man thanks for this video.
    Also, good shifting, fast and crisp, you do a great job of connecting the gears together between your shift.
    There's not many people I can praise on TH-cam about their shifting, it is either too slow, or too sluggish.
    I think it is mandatory to see someone drive a manual car properly in order to reveal its true potential especially if one is interested in buying that car.

    Excellent review, I would have bought the 8th generation Civic EX-L Coupe 2010 or 2011 with Nav. if I could find one. But I learned my lesson on buying used, never again had too much trouble with my first car a 2000 Chevy Cavalier. The previous owner did not take care of the black paint finish, the rear frame rails were rusted out, transmission cable broke I could not shift out of park, and the coolant leaked out of the container. But I'm satisfied with what I bought.

    I bought this car new in 2006 and still drive it every day. One problem is that it has terrible blind spots to the right and left of the windshield. If you go around a long curve at just the right angle a pedestrian or another car may just suddenly appear without warning, this happens often you should be conscious of it.

    I wish my 2013 coupe was a manual, but I’ll never trade it in or get rid of it, despite the auto transmission version being a total slug. Even in the 9th gen the coupe was way nicer, the base model lx vs the sedan got better seats, tweeters up front in the a pillars to make the sound system better, better suspension and Better handling. Despite the EPS the steering still feels decent and it handles like a go kart.

      xhrisfromthe6 Oh trust me rwd sucks in the winter my dad Mercedes Benz amg 1998 hammer has a hard time going straight when he puts gas into it! (and this is with the winter tires) My mom has the gen before this one fwd and it does good in weather like winter and sometimes fall (leafs all over the dam road lol). Get a rwd if you live where it does not snow but Canada and America a rwd car in winter is a big NONO! XD

    Apparently a few of these Civics have suffered from cracked engine blocks. I'm picking up an 07 LX later this week, just wondering when you worked for Honda if this was a big issue?

    I feel this car could be the car for me. My 98 Civic EX is unusable with the flashing check engine light. I dig the black exterior but not the tan...I prefer dark grey. But definitely stick with a manual transmission.

      I upgraded from a 98 Civic DX with 183k mi. to a 2006 Civic EX with nearly 127k mi. I absolutely love it. :D

    • @VR46champion
      @VR46champion 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yea mine was an 06 Sedan DX got it 2 years ago with 138xxx km and now it has 195xxx km still going strong. However I already got the synchros and bearing in the transmission replaced @ 170xxx km. I think that's reasonable plus since the 1st owner learned how to drive manual in that.

      @mackcummy4976 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wft? Are you just trolling? It's spelled VTEC. It has economy VTEC on the non Si ones. All Civics except the SI come in auto also.

    • @mackcummy4976
      @mackcummy4976 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Non Si's have economy VTEC.

    • @kevinwhiting8391
      @kevinwhiting8391 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has a form of economy v tech that kicks in in the lower range for fuel economy... it has kind of a system they give you the same results as VTEC it has an extra set of Cam Runners that open up under high RPM to give you more power but it doesn't have the same kind of VTEC as the SI version.. it's a very capable engine not fast

    Well it has 60 horsepower less, about 20 lb/ft less torque, softer suspension, smaller rims, no performance tires and about a 1.5-2 second slower 0-100km/h time. They're both fun to drive, it's a Honda trademark. The Si is too expensive for the money in my opinion. I definitely want one but not for the price of 26k.
