    Eye candy!! You are running a clinic on how to get close up shots of your tools, in high def, with great skills running those tools. It's really helpful to watch where you put your hands, how you use your tools and how you design projects. Well done!!

    Hi Keith, well done video sir! Quick question…will the rubio monocoat keep the walnut from yellowing as it ages or do you know another way to keep that from happening?

    • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking
      @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      NO it will not. The Rubio will amber it over time depending what color you use - most hardwax oils will do that in my experience. I have started using the WALNUT color of Rubio to try and keep it a little darker. Other products like OSMO seems to remain more clear over time.

    Ha! No way you ever had your router bits rolling around loose in a drawer , you would have been losing sleep thinking about them getting damaged - or is that just me 😆. Great to watch you work and nice stuff too , above the average.

    • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking
      @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh come on man, work with me here!! 😜😂 I actually had them all in their original bags, but had to up the ante to enhance the overall effect. And you're right, I totally would have lost sleep if I had known they were just loosely rolling around bumping into each other. Gah! The mere thought of it gives me the shakes!

    • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking

    Where did you get that nifty spacing tool you used at 0:43?

    • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking
      @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an equal space divider by Woodpeckers. Unfortunately, it was a one-time tool and they don't make them anymore. However, other companies make them. Here is a link to one: amzn.to/3ulGDEV

  • @svenamundsen4879
    @svenamundsen4879 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Concerning the pocket screw jig..I've seen other woodcrafters use the jig for their "primary" piece of wood but then go and drill a pilot hole in the secondary piece. They do this do avoid any splitting...I thought that when you drill a pocket hole, it involved both pieces...is that incorrect or are there exceptions ?

    • @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking
      @KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pocket hole is only drilled into 1 piece and there isn't a need to drill any pilot hole in the mating piece. I've never had an issue with splitting, but it could happen if the wrong screw is used. The fine threads are for hard woods and the coarse threads are for soft woods.
