Just wanted to say thanks for making this video. Purchased the light and could not be happier with it. It's always tough taking a chance on a light at this price point but this thing rocks.
Mine arrived a few days ago & I’m totally stoked on them. One on the bars & the other on my helmet is a great setup, indeed. Took my fat bike out around the neighborhood for a night ride after a big snow storm. Can’t wait for warmer weather so I can get some night trail riding in!
Ordered one, I might be doing a nightish ride tuesday night (with the daylight savings changes its alllmost light enough to ride after work) and I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I'm really happy I saw this! Hopefully it will fill the gap until its light till late.
So, working nightshift now and wanting to peddle still has led me to hitting the streets at 4-5am. Looking for lighting solutions, you've solved the issue. Thanks for the vid man. Now one of the red blinking dots for the rear
I'm always leary and try to aviod buying products made in China when I can. Luckily some years ago I got a very good deal on some Niterider lights, which are advertised to be made in USA. Purchased through my LBS, I like giving back locally and having the customer support if I ever need it. My 2 cents
Totally agree with you Paul! I’m all about supporting local, hence buying my bike from a local bike company. I just wish USA lights weren’t 5x the price. But, you get way more quality!
Totlay forgot about that company.. Been around forever. I'll probably go with the $20 light. Although I splurged for the Spur Cycle bike bell ($50) after seeing it in the LBS
I put a battery for mobile charging in a waterproof phone bag case and hung it with my lights strap on the handlebars. It acts as a backup battery and it runs waay longer on high, charging the whole ride. Its battery would last 5 hours anyways, so I'm guessing 15-20 hrs per charging both
Love the recommendation! Used it last night and worked great. The only thing that I don't like about it is when I was traveling it would turn on really easy.
That is the one big down fall of the light is since it's waterproof and doesn't have a physical button, the button is super sensitive - I keep them on my bike/helmet so they don't accidentally turn on, but I have friends who have the same issue as you.
I bought one last week and got the model N6, it came with a physical button. Although the amazon add still looks like the "touch" button. This style button would not come on by accident. Hopefully this is a permeant improvement.
I drank the cool-aide... Luckily the word Budget features in title. Because that describes this light perfectly. The mounts are rubbish, and the light gets far from 1000 Lumens. 500-700 Lumens is more likely. For the price, it's a great back up light. But, for serious - single track night riding... You're better off spending a bit more coin. Luckily, I needed a backup light. So, money not totally wasted ;-)
You guys should try looking for Raypal RPL-2255 Cree LED Light. Its good because its light in horizontal ways and reletively very small only 6cm in length.oh yes, rechargeble also .I think the price only 10 bucks because in my country Malaysia only cost MYR30.
@@robertrodriguez8082 I also bought a NiteRider Lumina 850 and I has a lot more power than this budget light. The budget like is very good for the price, but I’d say it has around 500-600 lumens. It has the same light as the Lumina 850 on the second strongest beam. For the past 2 months it has been solid, but if you want to buy just one light I’d say to get a Lumina 850 or similar. I bought 1 Lumina for the handlebars and 1 Shenkey for the helmet . Perfect setup!
Looking for a front bike light lasting more than 8 hours. I have a 24 hour cycle race this Father's day. I'm currently testing out Brighteyes. I purchased it on Amazon for 56 bucks. I'm hoping low setting, 350 lumens, will last at least 9 hours.
Great review i just started riding bike and just wanna know what i need to ride on some trails or must have ? Do i need a helmet or anything else ? ✌️😊
You might want to get a balaclava and some goggles even if you have glasses there are ones that work over glasses and you need them because one big problem is bugs it’s much better to wear goggles and stuff than swallow a bug
Have you tried the 4000mah version? Thinking about getting that one for the bar light since it's only 10 bucks more but I'm not sure if it'll be as great as the one you reviewed. Skeptical of the automatic brightness control but maybe you could shed some light on this?
I have not tried it sammycheez, but it may be worth the 10 extra dollars! Let me know what you land on and next time I need a new light I'll buy the nicer version!
Daily MTB Rider I think I'll try it and hope it's as good as the $20 one, hopefully Shenkey has consistent quality. It's nice to have the ability to charge my phone from the light as well and I'm also wondering if it's more of a flood light than the smaller one. I will definitely let you know if it's worth the extra money.
Just looked them up on Amazon, they look like sweet little lights but they have two big flaws (in my opinion). 1. You have to buy a rechargeable battery separately and 2. It doesn't come with any attachments for your helmet/bars. I've purchased similar set ups in the past and always loose the batteries! Thanks for pointing me to them though!
That's a good review! I didn't think about the benefit of having spare batteries in your pocket! If you already have this setup then there's no reason to change. All that to say though, I think the Shenkey still wins in ease of use and setup
I have to say this light is ok to get you out but not powerful enough if you really want to rip. It works as a great helmet light but not enough power for the bars. Get a more powerful light for the bars and this light will work ok on the helmet to look through the turns.
I like a little more flood and power on the bars. I had a friend behind me and his light overpowered mine. But for the money, it is pretty darn good. The Victagen 2400 for around $20 is a good bar mount with more power. Check it out.
i had 2 and i think are crap .....the contact is hard to put on on off with gloves , when they are wet start to get funy coz the contact is like on toch not a phisical button , had issues with them and got CATEYES more expensive but ya...... made for riders not commuters :)))))( i do commute to ) ps just my xp with this product

Recently picked up a Moon Meteor 1300, 3x more expensive mind you, but I have had some flaky cheap lights with imaginative lumen ratings, and I really don’t like the rubber O-ring mounts that let you light drift lower and lower with each hit. That said I also run a pair of Solarstorms, cheap and have been reliable if the fact that one lighter is brighter and warmer than the other, and both have the usual hot spot beam, that make you envy the guy with the $$ lights.
I have read a Solarstorms light exploded, & destroying everything in the room of guy's house. www.singletracks.com/blog/mtb-interviews/a-cheap-chinese-bike-light-nearly-burned-down-this-riders-house/ I won't spare any thign on a light, I will get the best posssible light I can, that fits my needs, I know it will cost me, but I won't risk goign cheap for soem knock off brand.

Great review, do you have any videos of you riding with it? These are the lights I ride with: Helmet: www.amazon.com/dp/B00C2MHNJK/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I265LVRVQN4D7V&colid=2G7XSXBBCP2G7&psc=0 Bars: www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJCDH3K/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I4XEY72U262UC&colid=2G7XSXBBCP2G7&psc=0 I had to buy a helmet mount for it to work, but it was secure and the light never moved. These were briiiight. On climbs, I would turn the helmet light off completely and the bar light to its lowest setting. Do you know if the Shenkey has a version with two bulbs? The problem with my lights is the battery. Its an external battery pack that needs to be stored somewhere. The one on my bike just gets attached to the frame which is fine. The helmet one I have to throw the battery in the backpack. Which is fine, except this past summer I went #fullenduro and switched to the hip pack (in fact for shorter rides, i just use a running belt for some bare necessities). I have a single bulb version of my bar lights and its just not bright enough. I would love to have a 2 bulb or more light for my helmet that I could also recharge and not have to deal with wires.
Hey Joel! Thanks for sharing your lights. The reason I love the Shenkey's is that you don't have to deal with battery packs! My lights last from 2-3 hours switching between bright and dim and that's always enough for me. They don't currently make a two bulb one, but I really don't think they need to. Two of these lights is crazy bright, and again more than enough for me! Hope that helps Joel, let me know what other questions you have!
you totally could recharge it on the trail, but I don't know if you can use it while it's plugged into a powercell - I'll have to try it out and let you know!

In a time when free speech is under attack and elections are complicitly not transparent and my guess would be that 25% of the country who just so happens to hold 99% control over the internet and the ability for conservatism to fairly communicate, and 75% of the nation is scratching there heads at the odd events happening around us, and wondering on what planet in this day and time is it possible for Biden, who doesn't have an original thought in his brain could beat Trump in an election he had no interest in even rallying together his imaginary base for, I think it's a small price to pay to purchase products made in the USA. Luckily I have the support of the vast majority of the country who will always fight for freedom.
