Devin please audition to be organist at Coral Ridge because I think D James Kennedy just gave you his blessing. The best organist in the country playing the greatest organ in the world; well, it doesn't get any better than that. Please give us more!

I would love to sit on that organ bench and play that big mighty organ. It would be fun setting all the stops and trying out all the keyboards and foot pedals and changing sounds as I played along. I would love to spend an hour at the console just trying out scales and cords and then playing some beautiful music. It would be great being able to come back and do it over again.

Devin, I kind of wondered what you were leading up to on the Ruffatti?!! I listened long enough to know that this guy knows what he is doing! You made the instrument sing beautifully.
Alas, some research on Devin Wozencraft. You have played at Sacre-Coeur, Westminister and a Cavaille-Coll at La Madeline in France! Your church is blessed to have an organist like yourself!! I have always wished to be able to sit down like yourself and take an instrument out for a short spin, unfortunately I never took up keyboard. My joy has been talking 3 churches into purchasing small pipe organs rather than an electronic.
However, recently my other half and I donated a 3 manual Hauptwerk to our local Lutheran Church with a number of sample sets!! NOW, I'm just waiting for someone like you to come along and make it really sing out!! If you ever happen to be in Park City, UT doing financial advising or selling insurance please look me up!

Just for clarification, AVZ didn't do the reeds. Jack Steinkamp did. Since I personally worked with Allan, I can testify that he did only flues and upon occasion expressed contrasting views about what Jack did, but that was fine. Allan, Steve, and I did the flues and then Steve would hang around and work with Jack. Roger also worked on this particular instrument.

I know , that there (in the very near of Fort Lauderdale) is still another Ruffatti:
Rodgers/Ruffatti organ at the Sunshine Cathedral, Fort Lauderdale, FL
One of my favourite organists recorded there his famous organ work "Joy and Fanfare".
The Coral Ridge-Organ has five "manuals" and the Sunshine has only 4, but its sound qualities are compareble. Good Luck for taking seat on this console.

Don't say typical Ruffatti. That was typical of what Allan Van Zoeren did for Ruffatti in the late 60s and early 70s, not typical of what Ruffatti was doing in Italy or what the company does now. Check out the organ I designed at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, or the new organ Ruffatti built for the cathedral in Uppsala, Sweden. Very different.

    • @pope0331

Absolutely true! If a Biblical Reformed Church allows sin to live within its walls then IT IS NOT representative of true Christianity. The Scripture is very clear and concise despite that some Presbyterian, and other "evangelical" churches, allow so called "alternative styles of life" under the banner of being a "reconciling church". One thing is homophobia and other thing is following God´s word to the letter. Years ago, San Diego First Presbyterian had to also let their fantastic organist Robert Plimpton go for same related issues. As for the brothers and sisters at Coral Ridge most left to a new organized church known know as: New Presbyterian Church (visit their TH-cam Channel).

Seems slightly odd to have such incredibly lush Anglo-American strings on the Choir but such chiffy neoclassical flutes and principals on the Great. Usual very brittle Ruffati reeds too. There are some very nice sounds here (those strings!) but the whole is not entirely cohesive. I wonder if the strings are amongst the Walkertec digital voices? There's what sounds like a good Tuba there which I know is digital. I suspect I'd enjoy playing a pure Walker toaster more than this!

Hello i have a question about Mrs.
Bishs former job on Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauredale.
Why had Mrs. Bish finished her Job on this churchcommunity? Today the
wonderful organ is not in use anymore. The beautifull choir isnt exist
anymore and the service in this church has become a
carismatic-evangelical styl, and every sunday, there is music just
playing from a band. What happend in this community that there was just a
such hard break of tradition? The new whomen who calls herself organist
in of the Presbyterian Church has only a video with transkription of
"the schwan". And i think she only uses her hands. Why is this very
    grand organ out of work?

Bish was forced to leave before the change in ministry. The following quote from an AGO newsletter sheds some light on what happened: "Diane Bish was fired from Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale when the homophobic self-righteous pastor D. James Kennedy found out she had a female partner." Other sources are less vitriolic but indicate a similar course of events.
You answered the rest of it yourself, A change in ministry, new pastor, new style, new music. Out with the old, dusty, boring, traditional music, and anyone associated with it. Instead put up a show with pop music and adoration of a verbose charismatic preacher. It seems to be the way to run a church business these days.
Last year, the new pastor was forced to resign after having an affair. I have no idea in what direction they are heading now.

Interesting bit of busking. Clearly a wealthy church (Florida naturally) and the biggest organ that God fearing dollars can buy.
Ruffatti always manage to produce instruments, which are exceptionally loud and brash (obviously to suit the' louder the better' American evangelical musical tradition) but instantly forgettable. Hearing a Ruffatti spewing out sound makes one long for the magnificence and grandeur of a Harrison and Harrison instrument - Hereford or Durham cathedral. Both sublimely voiced and never needing to blow the listeners socks off in order to impress.

Agreed, DS1868. While there are some Ruffati instruments I've liked the sound of (none I've heard live, though), these instruments of the 60s and 70s in America have truly horrid mixtures and reeds. Perhaps indicative of the wider trend of that era, though - I don't think any American builder was doing better at that time. I do think that, this side of the Atlantic, HN&B, Walker and Harrisons were doing the same sort of thing far more successfully.
