    Lonely doggo is perfect distraction, he is small and fast, can easily run between units and Charge Couns, making enemies spin.

    Just so you know the difference between a cannon and bolt thrower is that while cannons roll to see how many hits they get bolt throwers have a set number of attacks but roll to see if they do hit like a normal ranged unit but I’m pretty sure they still deal 2 damage to multi wound models.

      @@misterpig7739 well the cannon is way better because of the higher power imo. however you can sometimes get the option to start with 2 bolt throwers in one slot and that is very good imo.

    Flying unit on top of impassable terrain could create problems for AI, also. Flying unit with ranged attacks, sitting on impassable terrain, could singlehandedly destroy Melee Focused Army

    this game lets your champions become monsters, a knight commander really takes advantage of it but any melee unit does while ranged heroes get value it just isn't the same and wizards sometimes just become melee units as well like they did in your human campaign

    I think you should probably replenish more earlier instead of looting. Gold is good but if you're fighting with stacks that are only at 60-70% strength, you're going to end up not routing enemies as often and getting into an endless cycle of attrition and replenishment. With the stats and number of attacks on those abyssal warriors, having a stack of 10 instead of 7 means a lot more hits and combat score. That Daragux and his manticore have been an absolute wrecking ball though.

    • @TheAdumboy
      @TheAdumboy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah It is definitely worth replenishing to make sure you have at least 2 full ranks of troops, especially when you have multiple attacks on a unit. If you think of it as number of attacks missing rather than number of models missing it will really improve your fight efficiency. For multi wound models like monsters it really depends on their survivability.

    • @JanetOnOccasion
      @JanetOnOccasion  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It's risk vs reward. The earlier battle are easier so if I can rinse more money out of them I'll be much better set up for later battles with more units and plenty of items equipped on them. A single stop at a camp and I'll have more replenishment than you can shake a stick at so it's worth losing a little bit of efficiency on an already overperforming unit, IMO.

      No worries! Yeah, nobody wants to see AI art in games, but I can't begrudge a solo dev using it for a few sprites if it gets their project off the ground since hiring an artist isn't - and shouldn't be - cheap.

    One weird gimmick of this game mode you should be aware of is that the enemy AI cannot rally, so you should never charge a fleeing enemy (unless you're worried about getting hit in ranged combat I guess).
    The ability for the AI to rally is actually part of the ascension difficult system thing they have, near the end of the scale.
    I guess it's there so you can have cooler fights with overwhelming odds, that then just kinda err in your favour since the enemy stacks are deceptively squishy.

    I was so ready to play this game until I read to the bottom of the game description on Steam and they said that they used AI art for parts of the game. I just can't support that

    • @JanetOnOccasion
      @JanetOnOccasion  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Presumably because you're pro-labour. Context is important here - no artist has lost a job as a result of this indie dev using AI to furnish their game. It just wouldn't have any art at all, or it would be whatever guff the non-artist dev could cook up while eating up all his time for no real value. It's up to you where you draw the line, but to me I couldn't care less if some tiny dev uses AI to make their project happen. This game is also evidence that AI is no replacement for a real artist working on a game; I will lovingly refer to the art direction of this game as total bollocks. I save my ire for giant game devs using AI specifically to save costs when they can easily afford to hire and fairly pay artists, not a game of this miniscule scope.
      Besides, half of the factions are free so you can play those without financially supporting anybody. Again, it's up to you where you draw the line, but I think at a point it's unfair to force those standards upon people at the bottom of the rung when you know what they're having to compete against in this industry who couldn't give a fig about your ethical standards. It's handicapping the handicapped. Food for thought, I hope.

      @@JanetOnOccasion I appreciate your responding so quickly.
      At this time every Generative AI model in use is trained unethically on stolen artwork, so even using them I disagree with.
      I myself work in the games industry, so I understand the point of 'But we are at the bottom, and cant afford an artist', but I can't accept that reasoning when:
      1. There are so many other smaller studios that can and do get artists to create for their game.
      2. Hiring a Junior Artist is still possible, then once the game has started earning money, hiring more experienced ones to either polish up or fill out more of the game
      3. More than likely, to actually create the game, they applied for grants, and could have added artist hiring/contracting to that during the process. If they instead worked on it in their free time and are using a rev. share, they could have just as easily found an artist to do the same.
      Using the argument that they are at the bottom and are exempt from the same ethical issues as the large faceless companies I disagree with. Its these smaller companies where junior artists often get their first gigs and is incredibly important for the industry as a whole.
      This goes for every creative area. VO, Writing, Traditional Art etc.
      Worst comes to worst, many artists are willing to work for 'experience' when they are breaking in, and while I disagree with that as well (everyone should be paid for their work), it's at least a human doing the art, and can then take that work to find paying work in the future.

      @@JanetOnOccasion Huh, my reply hasn't show up? Did it get flagged as Spam?

    • @JanetOnOccasion
      @JanetOnOccasion  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Like I said, it's up to you where you draw the line. Personally, given that it's essentially the wild west I'd rather not the most powerful people in the industry be the only ones to benefit from it's use. As soon as AI art is either banned or has a mechanism to fund the artists that were used in training them (with permission!) is created I'm just not going to begrudge a small dev from adding what amounts to generic rubbish that could be found in a game dev humble bundle for pennies applied by somebody with no eye for design.
      1) Smaller than a solo dev? So half a dev... but also with an artist on staff? Maybe this half of a dev can't get an artist.
      2) Maybe it's not possible for this dev. Artists cost money. They might not have money.
      3) Maybe they couldn't get a grant. Maybe they don't expect to earn enough revenue to share, and wouldn't want to waste some poor artists time.
      Your argument seems to be that literally everyone can afford to hire an artist except when they can't and just find one not to pay instead. It's really ignoring the economic reality of most of the planet.
      AI art is no replacement for the real thing. I'm a trained artist; I went to art school. If anyone told me to work for experience I'd tell them to go up themselves and stay there forever. You're arguing that you don't like AI art because it's theft while suggesting they commit wage theft instead. Either way it's screwing over artists, but your way is far more direct - it's like crossing a bridge that somebody has already built compared with having somebody build you the bridge because somebody might see the bridge. It's so much worse.
      For all either of us know the dev might just be a moron who can easily afford to hire an artist but thinks their game looks awesome. I really can't speak to the person's character. Whether in ethical or practical terms they should hire an artist if they can afford one - it would make their game better. The 'art' within this game does not amount to a job lost and that's all I really care about. It seems to have created one job though.
      I don't think your arguments are very compelling, but if you just think it's icky and don't want to touch anything to do with it I fully support your decision. Gotta have principals. More power to you.
