his taste is closer to mine than his sister - I'm not big on fantasy but like some and definitely prefer happy and funny! thank y'all for the recommendations! I just borrowed the Dahl medicine book audi from the library! can't wait to listen to it driving to and from work and before bed! I listened to the audiobooks of the Fudge series as an adult and liked them. I also liked listening to Peck's Long Way from Chicago - the sequel is my favorite but it's about the sister and grandma- the first I mentioned is both together and different stories/experiences.
Haha, no, I'm not doing Vlogust, just crazy. Here's a peek at my thought process: * I'm not 100% sure how long I'll keep up with my BookTube channel, but I want to do at least one video a week until I make an official decision * this channel is 100 hours from being monetized! So, definitely trying to keep stuff up here to get that happening! * my more personal channel is in the testing phase - will it work out? I'd rather post a couple videos a week to see than only post one a week and drag out the process. So yeah, it's been 5 or 6 videos a week but some of them are quick to film and edit and apparently I really like TH-cam because I'm mostly doing it for fun/the potential of eventually making money . . . Okay, that was a long comment, I like talking TH-cam stuff and don't have people to talk about it with so I get a little carried away . . .
Thanks for sharing Ephraim! We really liked Wild Robot too and Eli wants to try reading the Wild Robot Escapes on his own this year. We also have Ramona and Pippi Longstocking on our list.
My son (12) is LOVING that series! He’s on book 2 right now. It was a hidden gem, I just discover it💎. And we have Winterborne Home too 🙌🏻🙌🏻 We’ve never read Pippi Longstocking, now I really want! Holes is soooo fun - all my kids are sitting around listening to it when I read it to my 8th grader for school. All in all, awesome choices!
My oldest daughter is 7 and extremely sensitive, Wild Robot was recommended to us and she loved it up until the end. The end she sobbed and now refuses to listen to the next one. Does the second one end happier? I'm thinking I need to read/listen to it first and then decide if it's worth trying to convince her. It's extremely hard to find chapter books she will enjoy because of her high level of empathy. 😕
According to Ephraim the second one doesn't have any sad parts, he said she gets sent to some kids who find out she isn't a normal robot and they help her escape and get back. I haven't read the second one myself yet. That's hard when you have one that is that sensitive, that's for sure. My daughter is like that in real life but oddly books that are sad, scary or violent (like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter) don't bother her at all. Ephraim is definitely the more sensitive one when it comes to books.
We use our library's Libby and Hoopla apps and then I have an Audible subscription for books we can't find on there or that have crazy long wait times.
I don’t know, I think Ephraim looks pretty innocent to me!! 😊 J says “Hi Ephraim! I LIKE you!! I like funny books too! Did you read The Twits? I hope you write back!” (Can’t say anything about the twits, I haven’t read it, so don’t take it as a recommendation from me but being by Roald Dahl it’s probably ok) I don’t like Judy Blume! I don’t let my kids read her, lol. I remember getting way more information than I needed at a young age from her books. She doesn’t strike me as a recommendation for Christian families, but I may have a poor memory!
Haha, with a smile like his he gets away with a lot of pestering . . . Tell J he was excited to hear from her and has not read the Twits yet but he wants to now thanks to her! The only Judy Blume book I ever read when I was younger were Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret, ha, not a book I would recommend for kids!
Thanks for sharing your favorite books with us, Ephraim 📚💖
😀
Thank you both for the great recommendations!
Aww I love the videos with your kids! It's so fun meeting your family and I aspire to one day have children that love to read as much as them.
It's been fun to introduce them into the world of stories! 😊

Such great ideas for books to introduce to my (almost) 7 year old! Thanks for sharing ❤️
I hope you enjoy them!
Chantel, I'm in aweeee at how many videos you come out with this month. Are you doing Vlogust? Howww do you get it all done?! I'm so impressed.

I still haven't read The Wild Robot Escapes!
How adorable is he?! ❤️ Thanks for the great recommendations as usual!
I'm definitely biased but find him totally adorable!
This is very helpful - and intriguing! Thank you, Ephraim!
I hope you find some good ones!

What do your kids listen to their books on? Audible,…?
