This video popped up so I had to watch it. I've watched Southern Charm since the beginning. It's great to see Shep so calm, centered and focused. I wish him the best. Great interview.
An interesting interview. Have watched Southern Charm from the beginning. Happy to see that Shep has had a reflective time. I'm listening and listening. Is he doing everything to avoid actually doing the 12 steps of recovery and totally surrendering? It comes off that way. Wish him the best in finding a Higher Power that is not him. You don't have to have a tragic accident to qualify or benefit from AA and it seems like he does not get that. Recovery is the simpler and softer way, not the hyped up, celebrity-chic Ayauascha way.
Typical RICH older man now with no responsibility. Get a job and learn to work. That will settle your problems. If 20 yr old maybe understand but the guy 45!!! Dissapintment to family. Brag time an kiss up by the Host of Show. Accept me is what I see. Typed to fast for correct spell! Big Nothing here. Yuck.
Great interview. Wishing Shep well. He is clearly very intelligent and articulate. Hopefully his writing and/or other entrepreneurial ideas take centre stage in his life so he can finally shed his playboy partying persona. Be a man of substance rather than substance abuse.
Shep - I hope you read this post: The fact that you have made it this far in your life without trauma is something to be very thankful for, but also you likely will not get out of this life unscathed. My hope for you is that when you do experience a real trauma, you are able to continue life with both an intact body and mind. If you are so fortunate, maybe you'll put the partying brakes on just a bit more, and care about your soul and health more, so you can continue to be happy and healthy until you've reached a ripe old age. You're a totally cool guy...live long and prosper!! ❤❤ (No, I am not a Trekkie!)😊
I rarely post comments. Just wanted to say after reading these negative comments… Robbie did a great job interviewing Shep. I’ve watched Shep since day one and he’s really grown up a lot. He’s not a bad person. Everyone has made mistakes… it’s all about the way you handle the solution. I appreciate your honesty Robbie. Good job 👏🏻 Have a Great Day
It took me a number of tries to give it up for good also, I hope Shep keeps going! One of those times hopefully it will stick like it did with me, been alcohol-free for about a decade now and it's really worth it.
I think Shep is very kind and intelligent, possessing a very competitive ego, which is an essential element of success. The world is at his feet. Dating women closer to his own age would be of great benefit.
I have never seen Shep be able to sit and talk with someone and not be shaking his foot. He seemed calm and relaxed! I hope he can continue on his road to sobriety. I have family members with addictions and are sober now. It has not been easy. I often would say how difficult it must be for alcoholics since there’s a bar or liquor store everywhere. I wish him the best!!
I'm so happy this podcast was on my feed. It's a beautiful thing to learn that Shep knew he hit his bottom during Bravocon. He's been a TV friend in my head since season One! Watching the show there were a few potential bottoms. Cameron trying to bring him onboard in her real estate endeavor. He slept through appointments. Kept her waiting for hours. The most cringe worthy. Being embarrassingly ill prepared for a meeting for a lucrative showing of a house . I still wonder what the owner had to say to Shep and Cameron off camera. Did he even list the house with her or her employer. All that to say. I'm excited to see he's making genuine effort at living life on life's terms. Looking forward to seeing Shep in his future endeavors. What a great interview. I'm subscribed. Thank you ❤
Love Shep, I really love seeing how his character has developed over the last few months with some introspection, less/no drinking, and it appears to be genuine growth. I think it’s admirable. I’m not sure about Taylor staying in his life at this point… like why wouldn’t she give JT a chance?? Her hateful digs and nasty behavior toward the others post breakup, don’t speak to loving Shep. It kind of suggests she loved the lifestyle he provided but disliked the obligations that accompany being with a man like him. Good interview, well done gentlemen.
Taylor put up with a lot of shit from Shep. He let her on and broke her heart. But she’s been dating someone else for quite a while now. I hope she can move on and heal her heart. Taylor really loved Shep,.
I always saw great potential in Shep because his brain is quick and he has chamelion abilities. Not in a bad way. Bright and curious. He is right on with "idle hands". His brain functions well with challenges.
I totally relate to that feeling of wanting to be in control, of whatever journey we’re on, & that it’s yours, then it feels, more alluring with how it was put and treated here Also have similar interests with deep questions which is why I interview people who’ve had NDE’s etc, much love to you both -I see the deep divinity in both of you God Bless
Wow, what a powerful interview. The questions asked were great. Shep seemed comfortable with his answers. I wish him the best. We are all on a journey in life, each of us suffer in different ways, physically and emotionally. Life is hard. No matter what your journey is, we need to be respectful and supportive of each other. No one goes through this life alone. Fantastic interview!
How many people get to the blackout stage and say to themselves I will just control my alcohol consumption, I don't have to be sober? How does it usually work out?
Excellent interview...pleasant surprise. Interviewer asked great questions and moved the conversation along really well. I hope Shep and Taylor find a way to reconnect.
No one has mentioned that Shep was diagnosed with Liver Damage. He said it on the show this past season. Is no one helping him face that? Craig, Robbie, parents, anybody? Crying at his funeral will be the outcome of enabling this man. Why? Because he can't deal with the diagnosis? Liver damage in the early 40s is huge and I wonder if cirrhosis is around the corner?
He is in his early stages of sobriety..things will become more clear when he is fully committed to sobriety Right now it feels like he’s keeping that door cracked.
While I appreciate both these men’s stories about their journey through addiction to sobriety, I hope they can understand and appreciate that the reason they are both sitting here and are able to laugh about it is because of white privilege. Imagine being poor, not coming for money, and being a minority, having four DUIs, and then crashing into a marine base or whatever he did. They are both very lucky to have the power of money behind them,
Love your candor, curiosity, humility and grace. Lot of people in these comments have their own demons to slay. Christ is the key to all healing whether one realizes it or not. @@ChampagneProblemsPodcast
No joke! These two clowns won the DNA lotto! What was soo bad in their lives they had to turn to alcohol and drugs? Too many vacations? Did the Rolls breakdown again? Gum on the bottom of their Gucci loafers?
Denial, blame and justification is all I hear and see from Shep. Was really hoping he was "growing and being his best version" First you need to be honest with yourself, not MORE SUBSTANCES TO SEE CLEARLY...he is an alcoholic.Unfortunately I lost alot ofrespect for Shep when he was cruel to the bottle collector that was recorded. The angry, verbal abuse on Taylor and others, that is justified and swept under the carpet. He is so intelligent yet not wise at all at his age. Huge fan of the show especially Cameron, who was very concerned about her dear friend, back in the day. Imagine the difference his journey of sobriety would make for him not matter what he touched. Craig definitely had life changes when he addressed his addiction to Adderal and now alchol. Austin is definitely an alcholic also, not good for each other. Really hoping for growth and humbleness from Shep, because we all see so much in Shep...he needs to take all his gifts and talents and be his " best version . Defination of insanity...keep doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. Grow up Shep!
Shep seems to really want external validation and I think focusing on his own personal purpose will be helpful. Silence the noise around him…so many temptations that don’t serve him.
Shep is an alcoholic, plain and simple as that. Sad thing is he is such a favored and advantaged rich kid who had wasted his life. He is getting sober now, so time will tell the tale. Shep, there is an afterlife. I know since I have died, more than once. There is a heaven and there is a hell. Feel better or worse? I know that knowledge changed my life. I WAS a hellion... Now I KNOW better and I do better. 😊 My first concert was Led Zeppelin at 13, but that was literally a lifetime ago. I add that so you can understand that I'm not a young kid, like I was then. I grew up in the sex and drugs and rock and roll is all my body needs generation, but I wish I had not. Life is short and it's too precious to waste on being wasted.
Time to turn the page and become a better version of yourself shep. You need to make yourself proud and also your family party days need to be in the past
My sister was Shep’s baby sitter . Out of much respect for her . I will not name her. All of the HHI locals definitely know who she and her husband are there. Oh Shep.. Shep.. Shep. You don’t want to grow old alone my friend.. and be single God willing you’re alive when you’re 75… Ohh…the things I’ve heard . 😂

I remember once when on vacation with an old partying friend, and as time when on during that vacation, I realized that’s what we had in common was parting. I sat there with breakfast one day ordering a drink, which I don’t do in real life and I felt myself getting too high, and thought to myself, not cool! I had heard awhile back; if you enjoy parting but don’t want to lose your senses, just have a drink, but then back it up with a glass of water. So during that breakfast and revelation, I backed up my drink with water, and I was pleasantly surprised, as it took me from feeling loopy, and an embarrassment to having self control. Now if I ever drink and start feeling out of control, or stupid, that’s what I do. Game changer for me.
I'm a huge Southern Charm fan... But it never ceases to amaze me how rich whyte men can float thru life evading authority with minimal consequences 😒... Hopefully, Shep finds his way. Much Respect for letting Superbowl clown know they were unrealistic and it doesn't make common sense..💜
I’ve been in jail multiple times, lost my drivers license for 5 years, kicked out of school, fired from jobs. I wouldn’t consider those to be minimal consequences for my behavior. We’re not taking about felonies here. We’re talking about addiction. I was anything but floating through life.

I hope Shep and Austin have a good season together. I hate when they argue Is Katheryn coming back to Southern Charm? Will Paige ever move into Craig’s house full time??
Yes, it’s all part of the process. Survival mechanisms are pretty powerful and pain avoidance is something all humans can succumb to. It’s super easy to point out in other people, but WAY easier said than done to actually attack our deep rooted patterns perfectly.

Nice to hear that he is heading in right direction on being sober.
I don't believe him
And you don’t need to believe him.
