It’s amazing how you find a use for whatever items you have on hand. I look forward to what item I’ll need to save next to make amazing ephemera. 😃 Hugs
I enjoyed Carryon too. Just watched Black Dove mini series. I really enjoyed it too. Love these covers. Need to get my quilter friends to save their scraps.
Hi Gayle!! (Can't say good morning because it's evening 😂) I love these scrappy covers!! It's been a while since you've done these. Just spent all day at my son's baking cookies with 2 of our daughter's and our daughter in law. We sent the guys grocery shopping while we were making cookies. Then we wrapped gifts for a family in need. We were going to wait until Christmas Eve to put everything on they're doorstep. But we did it tonight. 🥰 Thankfully they had the shades shut. We put the groceries, gifts and a platter of cookies on the porch. All of us but my grandson went back to our vehicles. My grandson rang the doorbell and ran like the wind to our cars. My heart was so full watching the family come out and seeing everything. I feel so blessed our whole family contributes to this and we don't buy gifts for each other. Even the grandkids get involved. Have an awesome evening...💜
Love these covers. They've been on my radar to make, but don't have the stabiliser stuff. I think I'll give it a go without it as it's only scraps, right 😉 Thank you, sweet friend ❤ Belinda xxx
Anxiously awaiting the final reveal. The last one looked very Christmasy. Thanks for the movie recommendation. I downloaded it. I’ve been trying to download things for when the power goes out so I won’t be bored. The power hasn’t been out for several weeks but last night the Wi-Fi was down for 12 straight hours. I can’t watch TV without Wi-Fi because I stream but I do have an old antenna I could’ve hooked up and watched network TV but I wasn’t quite that desperate. I watched everything I had downloaded so now I had to do some more today to be prepared for next time something stupid happens like one drop of rain falls and the power goes out. I have no idea why my internet was out for 12 hours. It wasn’t just me.
Hi Gayle. It’s funny that you are doing these journals. I was just thinking I would really like to see you do a video on this process again. Don’t forget to show us. 😊 Have an awesome day. ❤😊
All your videos can't be glamorous all the time. You have to show the process. I have a quilter down the street that saves all her scraps. I told her to tape a plastic bag and put everything in the bag. Then I take that bag and sort out the scraps by sizes, batting even threads. I have use all the size scraps. The batting was to stuff fabric ornaments. The thread I use for a layer in fabric and paper flowers and for mix media projects. My favorite is the scapes for rag journal covers. I made a rag cover blank journal for my quilter. The keep track of the fabrics she used. The costs, and hours to make her quilts. She trying to get the courage to sell her quilts. Her quilts are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your passion with us. Big hug always.
Good morning Gayle! ❤️ These raggedy covers are so cool! It’s been awhile. Had craft room time, then a couple of little chores, now Gayle on my iPad, a bite of something to eat, cat on my lap and college and pro football on TV. Perfect Saturday for me. 😊 Enjoy your weekend, travel safely. ❤
Good afternoon Gayle!! Love this idea for fabric scraps. It’s been a minute since you’ve done these. Thanks for the reminder! Hope you and the family are doing well. I’ve been out of pocket for a while here but doing better. Have a wonderful rest of your day! Stay warm! 💞💕Hugs!!
Oooooo, these have given me so much inspiration for using up all my scraps to make journal covers. So excited to see the next video on these!!! Thanks for sharing Ms Gayle. 🥰
Hi Gayle!! I find it very relaxing to watch you put your raggedy journal covers together!! I'm hoping you will show them after the dissolving process is done!! TFS!! Hugs, Liz:)
Good morning, Gayle. It’s been a while since you’ve done raggedy book covers. I absolutely love them. I’ve made a couple of them. I just have to say, you are much faster at it than I am. They look great and I can hardly wait to see them when they are completely done. Thank you for reminding me about them. 💜🎄
Good Morning Gayle, happy SS all. One of these journals could become an assortment of mix digital’s, with all the different colors in the materials. Have a wonderful day and enjoy your snow! 👍🌲🌲🌲
🎄Good Morning Gayle & Everyone 🎄Happy Scrappy Saturday! These Raggedy Journal Covers are textural and beautiful! Have a stunning day my friend! Luv, Prayers, & Hugz 💖🙏🏻💖
Good morning Gayle 💝 Awesome scrappy Saturday and a fabulous way to use up those fabric scraps. Thank you for sharing, wishing you both a warm cozy day. 🤗Big hugs 🎄
What a cool way to use your scraps! I got quite the chuckle out of your hair cutting proceedure! I also thought you saved $$. I go every 6 weeks with my short hair. $50.00. Seems expensive but what isn't these days. Take care hugs.
Good morning Gayle!! Wow!! I’ve never seen this before !! How awesome is this!! I can’t wait to see what they look like after the dissolve process!! Beautiful work!!
Good morning, Gayle! ❤ This was a fun scrappy Saturday! I love the Autumn cover, I can’t wait to see what kind of journal you make with that one. Nothing like rushing the seasons. 😂 The covers are all beautiful. It is great to have quilter friends. My girlfriend gives me her scraps too. I hope your Grandson’s present shows up soon! Have a wonderful day, safe travels to your family for Christmas! ❤
Hi Gayle 😊 this is such a clever way to use up fabric scraps. Thankyou for your company, sitting back with a cuppa while I can, kangaroo chillin in the back yard, all is good😅 sending best wishes to you and Mike 💕
@@colleenmc8450 Hi Colleen😊 he comes with advantages and disadvantages. Lovely that he feels safe, last year he ate all the leaves off our lemon tree😆Sending best wishes to you🌿
❤ cool idea. I have lots of quilting scraps! I can't wait🎉 Also: you are right, a new needle, and if you use a small brush and/or tweezers to get lint under the needle plate and around the bobbin, the machine will be like new!😊 Thanks again!
Hi Gayle. LOVE the scrappy covers. I want to try this but haven't bought the stabilizer. I keep forgetting...so many ideas, so little time. 🤯 I've been cutting my own hair for decades. But not any short haircuts anymore. Have an issue with my arms that won't let me keep them up that long. But I keep my long hair trimmed up and if I need a little tweaking my middle son helps me out. (He cuts his own hair as well as his 2 brothers.) I used to cut my boys hair when they were younger but again my arms won't do it anymore. Anyway, TFS. Hope you and Mike have a great day. 🌞
Good morning. Great cover making idea. I plan to make ahead several one signature covers. I'll be putting this style on my list to make. Happy creating.
Good morning Gayle! Love these scrappy covers. I have the stabilizer just haven't made one yet. May need to move it up on my to do list! So fun!! Want to wish you a Merry Christmas to you and Mike and all your family❤😍🎄🎅
Hi Gayle, I've been gone awhile, I know. My husband and I have been traveling. Its a once a month trip to Indiana to help take care of my Mom, Dad, and Stepmom. They are all three not doing well lately. Then, we spent over 2 weeks in California visiting family for Thanksgiving. We haven't been back for too long and we're heading to my daughter's for Christmas. Then, to Florida for a few weeks for our anniversary and to relax. As you may know, one does not really relax visiting family. Life just hasn't slowed down in the last year and a half. We are hoping it will get back to some normalcy for awhile after we get back. How are you doing? I'll have to catch up on your videos. I have always loved this technique you are doing today. I've done this before and added some laces, too, and it turned out beautifully. I just loved it! During COVID, I had to cut my own hair. This hair dresser gave instructons on TH-cam and I tried it out and it turned out not too bad. So, I kept doing it even after COVID. In August, I finally had a stylist do it and honestly, Gayle, I liked how I cut my hair better. 😂 So, I'm going to keep cutting my own hair. I bet yours looks great and hair does grow out so fast. I have found after a week or two after the cutting, it grows a bit and it ends up being perfect. Ha! Anyway, girl, I'll do my best to do some catch up with your videos. I hope you and Mr. A are enjoying the holiday season. Lots of love and hugs! Sue 😊❤

Hi Gayle! I'm very interested in seeing if the stitching that you did on the scrappy journal cover was enough to hold down all those little pieces! Love the idea though. Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 💕
Good Morning Gayle & Friends! Such luscious fabric scraps and even better because they came from a friend! I always say journals about about memories, even making them. Often I find myself reflecting either about good times with the person I’m making the journal for or what adventures might they record. For me a request for a journal makes my heart sing and fill with joy. (Well, crafty requests of any kind do because I love helping others). This video had lots of giggle worthy content Gayle! From home hair cuts to “don’t know what I’m going to do with all these covers. Just wondering how many of us ladies of a certain age had very bad haircuts from our moms who would get tired of our bangs in our eyes and cut them way too short?!? 😂😂😂. But did any of you have a sister who cut your eyelashes?? I did! She told our mom she feared my eyelashes were getting in my eyes! (In all fairness, she is 10 years older than me and our mother gave her more responsibility than any 12-13 year old should have.) Mom asked her why she only cut from one side. Her reply…”Well mom, as you know, Twila Sue NEVER sits still!”. And if my sister knew I was telling this story to the internet, she would not be happy! She gets upset anytime it’s mentioned. I was not harmed in any way other than not trusting my sister!! There are many other escapades I could tell. I miss my big sis more than words can say (she has lived over 2000 miles away from me since I was 8). I’m very thankful for all of my crafty “sisters”. Remember to hug your loved ones and tell them how much you love them. Happy Holidays my friends and many blessings for the new year!
That's funny about you slipping your shoe off to sew - I have to do the same. I used to work in the sewing room of a fancy bridal shop with a sewing room in the back. All of us were sales associates but all of us sewed, too. We'd leave the shop to itself when we had a big wedding order - all seamstresses on deck, you know? When the doorbell rang indicating a customer, all of us would be scrambling for our shoes, because none of us could sew with shoes on, let alone anything with a heel! Every time you do one of these, i I tell myself I"m gonna do one too, but I never do. Maybe someday...
This is kind of off topic - the old program “what’s my line” came up on my feed here on you tube. Those of you who are of the “mature” kind may remember it being a regular program on TV? I didn’t live in this country at that time, cause judging from the ladies’ pouffy, stiff skirts, it’s from the 1950s. I found myself wondering if the panel would have been able to guess your “line” being “makes junk journals” if one of you crafters came on as a contestant☺️ - I bet you’d win all the prize money. What really struck me is the way people talked back then, it sounds so refined (think Barbara Walters), and people were so polite and well dressed! Prell shampoo and Remington type writer (not electric) were among the things that showed up on commercials, what a blast from the past!
I remember What’s My Line. You are right, I feel like people aren’t as well mannered as they were back then. I believe that social media has not helped. People feel they can be rude when they are behind a keyboard and then forget manners when face to face with other people.
Hi Gayle! I have a question and can't remember if you have answered it before. When choosing fabric for your journal covers, are fat quarters a good way to go if size is correct? I know that I have seen sets of them that match each other and thought I might give them a try one day.
Good afternoon, Gayle! I have started my junk journal and its not easy! Then my printer broke and am having trouble getting it to work. So I can't download the digitals! Ugh! Anyway, I am glad you are having a good day! God bless
I think a raggedy journal cover would be the best cover for one of the journals I suggested a while back about doing it with all coffee died papers with one side covered like the boards you use scraps on then cut it up into cards and tags, but you leave the back sides black for all the journaling. It would be a scrap journal with a scrap cover and scrapped pages and wouldn't even need anything but maybe focal points on the pages if anyting.
Pretty. Quote:“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.” - Hamilton Wright Mabie. Positive Vibes and Blessed Holiday cheer for you and yours. Huge HUGS and Peace. Namesta 🐞
Yes, the stitching as I did on the first cover on camera. As I said, after the stabilizer is washed off, there may be some pieces that need more stitching. When it’s dry, I’ll stitch down any loose pieces. ❤
It’s amazing how you find a use for whatever items you have on hand. I look forward to what item I’ll need to save next to make amazing ephemera. 😃

@@colleenmc8450 it’s really noticeable, isn’t it? But not only on social media, otherwise too. It was really striking in this old program.
@@sirilawson2557 it is a big difference. My Pop used to say manners flew out the window when men stopped wearing fedoras. 😊
Thank you for the tutorial
Watched that movie last wk Gayle, it was great movie.
Hi Gayle! I have a question and can't remember if you have answered it before. When choosing fabric for your journal covers, are fat quarters a good way to go if size is correct? I know that I have seen sets of them that match each other and thought I might give them a try one day.
Hi Sandy! Yes! Fat quarters work great for covers! ❤
Very cool!
Good afternoon, Gayle! I have started my junk journal and its not easy! Then my printer broke and am having trouble getting it to work. So I can't download the digitals! Ugh! Anyway, I am glad you are having a good day! God bless
Good afternoon, my friend! Hope the diffugalties go away for you! ❤
You can also make a scarf basically the same way. No base just 2 piece s
No base just 2 pieces of stabilizer.
Fun idea! ❤

So after watching whole video, what exactly keeps the scraps on? Does every piece need to have stitching?
Yes, the stitching as I did on the first cover on camera. As I said, after the stabilizer is washed off, there may be some pieces that need more stitching. When it’s dry, I’ll stitch down any loose pieces. ❤
That looks a lot like cross stitch cloth. Does it have a bunch of little holes in it?
It isn’t Aida cloth. It’s very fine and see through like tissue paper, but softer. It’s called dissolvable embroidery cloth. ❤
@@gayleagostinelli_ct I meant the material you were attaching the pieces to, not the dissolvable material.
Good morning! This is a great way to use scraps. This summer I found a bag of quilter squares. I’m having so much fun playing with them.
Morning Carol! ❤
Yes, I have made a couple covers from left-over quilt squares. Very pretty.

Well, this video is a mystery. I do not understand the purpose of covered scrap & what? There's no end to vid to show what? I don't know?
It’s a journal cover as I mentioned. These take two days at least to dry. I show the finished covers in an upcoming video. ❤
Good Morning Gayle. Happy Scrappy Saturday 💖💖
Morning Edie! ❤
