  • Musings on:
    Heated gear
    Fall/Winter/Spring riding
    Traffic in the off season
Additional follow up info on the Warm & Safe Dual Power Heated Pants
    Other random thoughts
Apologies in advance for the audio. I'm using the integrated Bluetooth coms in the helmet to act as a microphone for the phone camera in this video, and I'm still playing with the mic levels which are obviously going to require some adjustment.

New old rider after 22 year hiatus. Local biker hit from behind today near my home, huge deer splattered near my home and being dispatched by deputy as I pass by on my wing and I concur with the in attentive 4 wheelers/18 wheelers too! I have been in safety related positions all my life and feel I have been a relatively conservative car driver. Listening to you today has reminded me to keep my head in the game 100%, I'm still learning my equipment, the cardo, phone apps, gps. This all takes my eyes off what I'm suppose to be monitoring. I've pulled over several times this summer to do something not related to paying attention to the road. I watched your review and update here on Firstgear, glad I did because I was thinking about buying it. Your thoughts on Gerbing package please. Thanks from Wi.

Hi KZ, sounds like you and I took a similar duration hiatus. As you've discovered, it's never too late to get back in the saddle! Gerbing has a LOT of different items to choose from. My preference is for a 12 Volt wired system that doesn't rely on Bluetooth/app on your phone to work. That's just my personal preference, and I've been hearing people relate issues they're having with the Bluetooth controllers. But in general, Gerbing is usually a safe bet and good quality/function. Ride Safe, Namaste. -GeezeRider
