So I meant to have many more Mistborn related videos up this month (Mistborn May), but some very urgent things came up that were more important. My neighbourhood recently had to deal with flooding, so I was busy for a large part of the month dealing with that. But everything seems to be good now, the water has been diverted! I'll keep making Mistborn videos this month, I'm working on some that I'm really excited to share! ^_^ Let me know if there's any particular bit of lore, theory, or anything that you'd like to see a video on next!
Could you please reverse the order of the playlist to chronological order? Its super annoying that youtube doesn't allow you to change the order of the playlist.
Wonderful video, you've become masterful in making those!!! You went through the most difficult Mythology of this Trilogy like a breeze. It brought this entire world back in an instant. Such deep books. I will definitely read more Sanderson in the future.
Thank you! :D It took a bit of time writing the script for this one, so I'm happy to hear it turned out well! You should definitely read more Sanderson, I think you will REALLY enjoy the two Mistborn short stories that are in 'Arcanum Unbounded' as they give a lot of information as to what happened to a certain beloved character. I also started reading the 2nd era of Mistborn books (Wax & Wayne), and I think you'll enjoy those as well, they are a ton of fun! But of course, I can't help but recommend the Stormlight Archive above all others, as that is my favourite series right now ;) Judging from our buddy read (so many great memories), I think you'll like some of the brilliant heroic characters in that series. Cheers!
5:06 He didn't take the power of the Well of Ascension because he was power-hungry (altough he was), but because his uncle Kwaan told him what the real prophecy was and that he must not let the Alendi release the power of the WoA.
illmatic87 Thanks! I was looking for Cosmere Lore videos as well, then just decided to make them myself since I couldn't find any. This is only the beginning, I'll be making many more ;)
Thanks! There were a few houses that were at risk of being flooded, but we filled sandbags and made a wall around the river just in time, so thankfully there was no damage! We used over 8000 sandbags O_O
Ati (Ruin) was one of the most intelligent villains and skilled manipulators we’ve had in the cosmere. He was terrifying, and there where several times that I almost thought that the world was doomed. The slow realization that he had been manipulating Vin from the start with her earring was incredible, and felt like something that was planned from the start
I wouldn't talk about Lerasium or Leras. They aren't metioned in Era 1 and thus shouldn't be part of the summary, unless you would say that it contains spoilers for other cosmere books. Summaries IMO, unless specifically warning the viewer, should not contain information from ANY other source other than the books that are being summerized.
The reason there are 16 metals is because Leras made the humans on scadrial and decided to give them the ability to burn 16 metals although there is nothing special about the metals themselves. Also he chose 16 metals ( and there function) as a clue to the existance of the 16 shards of the cosmere and there functions I.E emotional alomancy is dominion and devotion and puching and pulling is based of of honour and odium.
Yes! Secret History was AMAZING I feel like it needs to be a necessary read for Mistborn fans who've finished Hero of Ages, there is just so much information there! That's awesome! I look forward to the cosmere videos! :D
I thought he had good intent at first, but Ruin tainted the amount of power that Rashek had in him. From a certain passage, I also thought he regreted killing the hero of ages!
As we know, atium was the physical body of Ruin, and in the first book, Kelsier destroys all the atium in the Pits of Hathsin. If I recall correctly, the books says how Kelsier ended the production of atium for the next three hundred years or so. At the end of the serirs, Sazed takes on the role of God, and Ruin no longer needs a physical body. Here is my question, although Ruin is no longer a single being, will atium, which used to be the body of a god, will it be made naturally now three hundred years later? In the Wax abd Waybe series? Sazed doesn't need atium as far as we know. So...what?
Ammalyrical Haha thanks for giving me the idea! :D oh and thanks for recommending me to Jenna Moreci, as I ended up making some bookmarks for That Bookie Box! The title works perfect though, as I came up with this snazzy intro which I can later replace the Mistborn part with Stormlight Archive when I make those videos :)
Mate i love your summaries this helped me understand the big picture instead of what made sense in parts. Thanks for the video🙏👏Also are you doing one for words of Radiance i have finished the book but want to hear your summary before starting the third one
Whoops I think you posted this comment on the wrong video haha! But I'm glad you liked my Way of Kings summary! And yes I'm currently working on one for Words of Radiance and hope to get that up soon!
Found you through your Kingkiller videos and must say your theory videos are pretty cool! Keep up the awesome work stop in for a beer and fantasy book geeking session at the Hops & Bros HQ if you are ever in Ottawa!
Oh wow the funny thing is I almost uploaded this 4 days ago but ended up changing the script XD Well I'll be making lore videos for the Stormlight Archive soon as well! The Way of Kings is such a great book, have fun reading it!
I just finished Era 1 and confused how people know the planet is called Scadrial? that word is never explicitly named in the books (to my knowledge) so how does everyone know what it’s called
Love the video just one thing, you mention the soldiers buying time to burn the atium, that could be worded better to say they used all of the atium in fighting so that even when they die ruin would not win. I'm sure that's what you meant I just think it could have been worded clearer.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I agree, I could have worded it better but was in a rush to get the video out. Will definitely try to do better with scripting :)
i really shouldn't have watched this... im in the middle of the first book and I really like Vin just to find out that she does something reaally bad, i know its my fault but i couldnt resist to know haha
The Lord Rule DID have good intentions But like Vin he was just a dumb person who didn't know what to do with godly power. They were all dumb Even the guy who held the power before the Lord Ruler was dumb. Why did he betray Ruin? Ruin was necessary, they needed to work together. Imprisoning him was just schupid Book three was just silly A lot of contrived ridiculousness just to explain things that didn't make sense in the previous books. I didn't like how EVERY bad thing the lord ruler did was attributed to Ruin. How Peservations flawed plans were just explained away with _"oh he wasn't thinking straight"_ How smart characters suddenly develop plot induced stupidity just so the story could progress The book is ok but it all falls apart when you really think about it
Excerpt from the Mistborn wikia page: "All known samples of Lerasium were created by Rashek when he took the energies in the Well of Ascension (another manifestation of Preservation) and condensed some of its energies into a solid form. "mistborn.wikia.com/wiki/Lerasium
Ahh thank you for the link and for clearing that up! I got that wrong in the video then, It's unfortunate that the mistborn wikia is incorrect on this.
you say sazed is the true hero of ages, but i dont think that is correct. i think he was always meant to become harmony but vin was still the hero of ages. she held the shard long enough to defeat ruin so she could pass it off to sazed as preservation intended but i do not think she was not the hero of ages.
SPOILERS from Secret History. With that logic also Kelsier is the Hero of Ages because he take the body of Preservation and give it to Vin when Marsh free her from Ruin.
@@fakub2026 that may be true but I don't think it's necessarily just holding the power that makes you the hero of ages. I thought Vin defeating ruin is what gave her that title.
Lord Ruler also bring an interesting point of what the "Hero of Ages" mean, he was a hero for the world who remain in power for ages, same as Sazed but in a more pacific way. Vin only was Preservation for a day
@@fakub2026 lord ruler did not hold the shard he just took the power from the well the way Vin did the first time but he didn't give it up the way she did. But tlr never held a Shard.
this channel is truly a gem in booktube.

Captured in Words the religion stuff Sazed was so studious in would be a great video. I just need a visual overview in a nice video format
Would really love to see a kandra video, I found them so fascinating. And TenSoon was a really great character, I loved him so much!

Correct. Sazed actually directly calls Rashek's intentions honorable. He was just corrupted by Ruin's influence.
Finally, finally, FINALLY found a channel that does Cosmere lore videos. Finally.
Good work man, hope you keep it up!
illmatic87 Thanks! I was looking for Cosmere Lore videos as well, then just decided to make them myself since I couldn't find any. This is only the beginning, I'll be making many more ;)

Would you rather have full Allomancy with one Ferring power, or full Feruchemy with one Misting power?
Read the second era up to Bands of Mourning and then dive into 'Mistborn: Secret History' .
That ads a whole other layer to all of this lore.
Have you read Secret History yet? If not YOU SHOULD! I'm going to be doing some in depth Cosmere videos soon and I'm pumped. :)
Yes! Secret History was AMAZING I feel like it needs to be a necessary read for Mistborn fans who've finished Hero of Ages, there is just so much information there! That's awesome! I look forward to the cosmere videos! :D
Slight correction: Preservation didn't give up any of its power by imprisoning Ruin, it gave up its mind. The power was still spread across the mist.
thank you for this vid. Needed a summary.
I thought he had good intent at first, but Ruin tainted the amount of power that Rashek had in him. From a certain passage, I also thought he regreted killing the hero of ages!
God, I thought I had hidden that scene deep in my mind but this video made me revisit that final fight scene and now I'm crying... God... WHY??
What is "the deepness"? Simple answer: The result of Ruin and Preservation playing a real-life version of Mortal kombat.
Mistborn's finale was so amazing, It's such a shame that some dude spoiled me on Sazed being the Hero of Ages.
As we know, atium was the physical body of Ruin, and in the first book, Kelsier destroys all the atium in the Pits of Hathsin. If I recall correctly, the books says how Kelsier ended the production of atium for the next three hundred years or so.

Did Rashek create the Lerasium? I thought Preservation (Leras) created it near the well of ascension and Rashek just found it and used it.

Thank you!
