Wow, that's an amazing harvest. That's also very respectable that you released the smaller ones.

A wonderful, beautiful video. Can we know how you saw the fish before the shot? What are the signs that indicate the presence of the fish? Please, thank you

Aloha and Mahalo for comment. To answer that question, the best thing that you can do for yourself to spot the fishes, is buy a good pair of polarized glasses. Once you can cut the glare from the sun, and see into the ocean, that's half the battle. The other indicator is the fact that I have caught schools in that same area, many times, and for many years over and over again. As a person of the land and sea, I just pay attention, and revisit the same spots over the years and keep track of the growth. Sometimes another fisherman might stumble upon them before I do. I usually wait to capture them at a mature size. If and when that happens, that's fine, because we all have to eat, and provide for our family's. I know many places to harvest, so it's never any pressure for me. Mahalo and Aloha for your watching!

Please don't mind my Hula reference, sometimes my dry humor punchlines fall short of the target. Although I was kinda dry joking, I honesty like to utilize the duck walk as part of my stalking technique. 🤷‍♂️

Mahalo Tylah! I have been monitoring this hole for some time. It's as if I am a farmer, watching plants grow from a seed to a big tree with fruit. This game takes alot of patience. There are many many holes that are under my watchful eye. I have been blessed with da best kumu's who have taught me this coastline very well. Mahalo for watching!

It's true. I am so fortunate to be able to gather from some of the most abundant stretches of coast line. Alot of leg work before hand, monitoring the holes, watching them grow, and then being able to finish the job of gathering. Mahalo for checking out da video!

A casting net, also called a throw net, is a net used for fishing. It is a circular net with small weights distributed around its edge.
This is kind of a weird subject, because it could get technical. I could be, but I'm really not like that.. so yessah! Call it what you are familiar with. I'm from Hawaii and as far as I know, my circle of Lawai'a and my elders never referred to it as a cast net or, say castneting.. lol I won't argue with you... it's all good. I grew up doing this, nothing phases me.. haha! You have a good one, All Aloha! Yessah!
