    Excellent video! And no in-video commercials. Thank you! The only video where someone actually drove the car! And I learned what the paddle shifters did.

    Fantastic demo ! I test drove a 2019 Accord Hybrid and loved it so much that I’ve decided it will be my next purchase in the fall. Everything you spoke about here matched my own experience. The car handles extremely well and had a surprising amount of torque at all speeds. Honda makes great vehicles !

    awesome car and upgrades over the 2017 Hybrid (which my wife has). So glad they replaced the one sided camera for BLIS and made it on BOTH sides. To me the LEFT was always more important to have to prevent accidents when on the freeway with speeders coming up on your left in the fasrtlane as you tried to merge into that lane. Cant wait to try the paddle down shifters. Should be much better than using the B mode to engine brake as I have to do in my wifes 2017 Hybrid. Cant wait to order my 2018

      Nikolai Artemev I’m pretty sure sport mode doesn’t do anything besides having the ability to extend your rev range and maybe tightens suspension. I could definitely be wrong on that, but that’s my knowledge. And yes I see that I’m a year late lol

    Looka like Finally honda accord caught up with Bmw Hybrid 5 and 3 series. I got a 2014 model Hybid and it lacks power and struggles alot. I often feel like its not a 2.0L car its more of a civic 1300cc hybrid. I might give the 2018 model a change again. Before watching your video I felt the honda accord Hybrid is more like a Uber Prius car. But with luxury and sports feel I will give this a chance to impress myself.

    How does paddle/ enging breaking work with your break lights? Can people behind know you're slowing down (like on the Exit example?) Cheers, thanks for the video review.

    • @spikiebitz1054
      @spikiebitz1054 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The break lights don't come on because you're coasting, not breaking. However in this example, if he was lightly applying the breaks as well, he'd maximize the regeneration and the tail lights would come on. He was just giving an example of how much the highest setting of the regenerative breaks would slow the car down.

  • @zbfng812

    Coming down an 'off-ramp' and using the paddle shifters to slow down do the brake lights come on? Hopefully they do or you could get rear-ended.

    • @sjsphotog
      @sjsphotog 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it has to know you want to change lanes so yeah will only blink/warn you when you have blinkers on which is not good for "lazy" / illegal drivers all over the road who refuse to use their turn signals as required by law!! ;)

    Can you please answer a question I had? Let’s say I’m driving down the highway in the small town I live in and there’s nobody behind me. I’m doing 60 mph and I take my foot off the gas while the car is in eco mode. Will the car automatically apply regenerative braking as soon as I take my foot off the gas or will I have to touch the paddle shifters every time I want to utilize regenerative braking?
    My second question is on the same vein. Can the regenerative braking default braking setting be adjusted. Basically can I have it start off with max braking all the time or will I have to push the paddles to that each time I use the feature?
    Thank you in advance! :)

    Very Informative, especially the driving portion. Alex Dykes from Alex on Autos touched on the paddle shifters and their functionality but it helped to hear it again with a little more hands-on demo and the drive modes explained in a little more detail.
    Sure it wasn’t like some of the high-end video reviews with all the ultra high resolution, refined videography, better mic quality. But it got the job done and had a lot of information that was very helpful and i could still hear everything you said which was great, especially with the prospective aspirations of buying the Hybrid Accord TRG.
    Definitely a very attractive car. Lot of great designing. I know a lot of people give praise to Mazda for their designs but Honda’s design language certainly isn’t ugly - specifically in their sedan Line-up. Granted i know some people aren’t the biggest fan of the chrome bar. But you really can’t mistake it for anything else - in a good way.

  • @Sjrick
    @Sjrick 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    With the hybrid, i dont put a lot of miles on my car so is that even beneficial for someone like me ? I saw a video on a hybrid saying that its meant to be driven around 30 to 50 miles per day and short trips are not good for hybrids. Is that true for this car ?

    • @spikiebitz1054
      @spikiebitz1054 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's untrue. Hybrids actually get better mileage around town because electric motors are more efficient at lower speeds. That's usually why the gas engine kicks on at higher speeds because gas engines are more efficient when cruising. If you want to say, "hybrids are only good for saving gas over longer distances", it would be a wash with some of the really efficient gas engines out there like in the Civic and the smaller ones in the Accord. Around town driving and short distances is where hybrids do really well because you maximize use of the battery power instead of the gas engine.

    I had this exact car in a 2019 model year - touring hybrid - for 3.5 months. Worst car I've ever owned. Navigation crashed multiple times daily since day one. Honda never resolved this issue. The dealer said they were going to fix it, took it in and they said it's all set and pick it up the next day; next day, no call from dealer. I call and Honda HASN'T authorized the work, and of course if I leave it, they won't give a loaner so I am without a car for a week while they allegedly fix it?! Interior squeaking noise that sounded like two styrofoam coolers rubbing together around HUD since day one. It took three visits to two dealerships to resolve because dealers were not following procedure in a service bulletin that had been released by Honda that I found on my own on Google. Poor quality control of work in service departments. The lane departure system and adaptive cruise misread the road and would slam on the brakes daily during my commute to and from work. Adaptive cruise would hit the gas aggressively - operation was abrupt at best. Honda customer service is worse than the vehicle. After 3.5 months of a completely unacceptable car and customer service experience, I sold the car. Good riddance. Honda insisted I take the car to dealer of origin for warranty issues on a brand new car. Honda does not provide a loaner vehicle for warranty work on a brand new car. I've owned two Honda Accords and two Civics over the years, but this was the last. Never again. Not only is the technology so buggy it shouldn't be on the road, Honda's service puts up road blocks and barriers rather than resolve issues. American Honda leads with this example and the dealerships embrace the same culture when there are issues. The only positive was it got between 50 and 60 mpg during my commute to and from work. It wasn't enough to keep me in a terrible car.
