Just caught a pretty big freshwater drum myself I through the rod in the water probably only like 10 feet from the shore waited like 3 minutes and bang caught a 3 pound freshwater drum which at least in my river is as big as they get they are usually only 1-1.5 pounds.
Thanks for the video. Watched video because was planning on fishing freshwater drum for the first with my son. Had no idea what to expect. Video was very helpful. I was expecting to catch them on the smaller end of the scale. In under 5 minutes we were on our first around 22 inches. Ended catching up a few and my son got a bonus walleye. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
Hey new to the channle. Im born and raised in portage la prairie. If you come back to the whitemud ive got a lot of luck on rattle baits spoons and a pickrel rig for huge barn doors
I don't think many people will understand the pure brilliance of this video. Running 4 cameras with an amazing story line...epic broll....and even better edit. /bow to you Jay. Keep em coming!
I've watched a wide diversity of Jay's work for many years now, and with no doubt I can state he's developed into one of the best outdoor shooters I've EVER had the pleasure to watch. It's not just the framing of shots or the fades , reveals, or any one single strength - he's learned to anticipate and offer viewers those rare glimpses of nature at it's finest. BTW I'm not Jay or anyone he knows directly~!!! LOL
@@JaySiemens Greatly balanced production; better than many sponsored ones, but using bacon and your Dad is cheating beyond pulling at the heart strings :p
Idk why but iv only caught 4 fresh water drum before all in the 6-10 pound range and they never like to swim off. They always take forever and you half to Guide them
I LOVE DRUM. I’ve caught thousands on worms and crawfish and even minnows. I’ve been throwing bucktail for tonnns of smallmouth, small mouth have the same feeding diet don’t they? I went out tonight and only caught one small 10” smallmouth, their were at least 10 drum total that I saw feeding off the shore, i threw a craw on a shaky head, a black marabou jig, brown and yellow bucktail, do they not feed on lures? I cannot get them to take a jig! Anyone have lure recommendations? Or should I just stick to worms and shrimp?
Glad you brought us along for this! Something special about fishing with Dad. Hope mines is doing well enough to come up and hot the water with me this weekend!
It was great seeing you and your dad fishing. My dad was no fisherman but he saw me and my brother had an interest in it and made an effort to learn himself and teach us how to fish. He still doesnt fish but ive been hooked since. Really have to appreciate the effort our fathers put in.
Noticed in your new video as well the drone shots and a few other have black bars so the scale is different. Did you forget to edit to frame size or is there a reason you aren't? I've had the same issue editing but scaling to frame size fixes it... just curious if theres something I'm missing by doing it that way. Doesn't seem to change the quality.
You should try trolling cranks in there jay. I fish that spot weekly and only the biggest drum will hit them. Great way to weed out the smalls and bullhead
you're so damn talented. Wish you had the 600-900k subs that some of the big fishing channels have. Best b roll in fishing hands down. Collab with Jon B if you can. I think that would be a huge push for your channel since a lot of his fans enjoy the filming aspect so much rather than just the fish catching alone
Thanks for sharing your story and more importantly your trip! Wish my dad was still around! New subscriber here, check out my channel when you have time!
Interesting bite, I usually get drum trolling a bottom bouncer and a Chartreuse spinner with a minnow (usually looking for walleye). Dad eating a breakfast sammy in slow mo made me LOL!
I love catching drums

Have you ever fished in Alberta?
can you fish off shore at lynchs point or is it all private?
Great video Jay! And for the people complaining about it being clickbait. Its his content, he can do as pleases with it.
Where did you get the minnows to catch that fish? ;)
I didn't think people actually tried to catch these things
Great editing and content!! Cheers from Italy 👊
Thanks!!!
Who didn't like this? I really enjoyed it, great job.
Awesome vids and great quality 👌🏽

Dad eating a breakfast sammy in slow mo made me LOL!
Disqualified how many years ago?. If you have good content you don't need clickbait titles.
Being disqualified is what I based the story of the vlog around, I’d say it’s pretty fitting. Thanks for watching!
