Thank you so much. Your video is exactly what I needed = the basics that everyone assumes we should already know. My father passed away a few months ago and left me his John Deere. I managed to get the brush hog attached, but didn't know how to operate the controls and settings and the tractor was stressing on inclines and wasn't cutting well and would grind when I engaged the brush hog. LOL - I'm sure my Dad would thank you too!! He loved that Deere!
Thank you! Excellent tutorial. I know it's basic but not basic to us newbies. It would be great if you could do a video on how to connect attachments. Especially a grappler.
You teach so well. You explain everything simply and also demonstrate how things work. I'm glad you don't assume first-timers know something. You teach from scratch and I love that. Thank you for the good work.
Thanks. I have a 2008 JD 5303, and was lugging the engine too much when putting it in gear. I learned that I needed to bring up the throttle prior to releasing the clutch. Thanks!
Got thrown into a new position because old guy left, main thing is snow removal and they have a huge tractor to do it... but I never learned how to drive manual on a car, much less a tractor. Wish me luck.
A small lesson for you: You say you keep it in 4WD permanently, well here is the thing, if your rig hasn't got a central differential fitted from factory, then by running it in 4WD all the time and steering it in either direction, you are going to cause serious transmission windup which will overload and eventually damage your drive-train. Things will be worse if you drive it in 4WD on hard road surfaces like tarmac, which will likely lead to a sudden catastrophic breakdown signified by a loud bang.
The most important thing for a newbie is knowing which one of the peddles is the brake and second knowing where the forward/ reverse/ neutral lever is. Third is the clutch as that is what will release the tractors engine force in the event a person loses sight of how to stop the tractor.
Yep, if you brake fully you have to engage the clutch or it will stall out. Unless you have it in neutral. About 5 minutes driving one you get the basics.
I'm new to the green industry but I'm learning how to drive a 30 year old tractor and it's literally harder than driving a somewhat modern combine. It's stupid tbh

The absolutely most important safety item on any tractor is a shield on the PTO (your training aid) does not have one. If you don’t think they are necessary, “Google PTO Accidents” you will see nonbeliever’s literally wrapped up in a PTO shaft with no PTO guard. Warning, the video is gruesome not for anyone with a week stomach, but hopefully save a nonbelievers life.

Thank you. I need to know this as my husband recently passed away. His acreage is his legacy, and I will maintain it in his memory x
Just an important note.....turning the key does NOT engage the glow plugs
The key must be PUSHED IN for the glow plugs to heat up
To the point, informative for even the most basic of layman and complete.
You're a good teacher.
Thank you! Purchased a tractor kit and had no idea how to drive it. Much appreciated!

I don't even have a tractor but thanks a lot for the education!😀

This video was so easy to understand. I was nervous about getting a tractor but you really put me at ease. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this! I don’t own a tractor nor do I foresee myself ever needing one, BUT I love learning new things and this was perfect!
Thank you so much. My dad wouldn't teach me how to drive the tractor because he's too busy but you were able to help me understand. :)

Very helpful, very descriptive. Thanks bro

Thanks Man! So cool. Man you have to coordinate a lot of things!
What is the name of that type of transmission?
Good video but if you're mowing in A 2 it will take you an hour to go 100 ft.
Wouldn't it be better to use A 4 or B1 or B2 ?
How about changing the motor oil? Is that easy? Is there a video for that? Thank you !!!!
Can you shift gears while moving?
Yes just gotta Make sure you push the clutch and put the lever / shifter in the right spot
I also had this question so thanks for the help
is parking light supposed to be on when driving?
Thank you, very much for the good explanation.
Very helpful, thank you!
Thank You!
Thank you for video
Once you’ve geared it would you let go of the clutch and only press the gas to move ?
Yep, if you brake fully you have to engage the clutch or it will stall out. Unless you have it in neutral. About 5 minutes driving one you get the basics.
Very well done! Thank you!
well explained
Need more videos like this
That yellow button you push down and pull up to turn the implement "on" and "off", is it called the PTO button?
Yes
Quality stuff. Thanks man!
much obliged
Good stuff.
Does the engine speed increase when you press harder on the accelerator? Or only when you move the throttle lever with your hand.
Yes it does best way to think of it is a gas pedal on a car
@@zackschilling5154 I guess they have foot throttles too.
My job requires me to drive a manual tractor..thanks for the help

Basically what I've learned so far the bigger the machinery is the easier it is to use
I swear all tractors have a broken handbrake
It's 6:32
