    While looking for videos about vintage lenses, I came across this channel.
    What a stroke of luck.
    I can't get enough of the photo and video samples taken with the old lenses. Beautiful to look at !!!
    Of course, the person behind the camera has a not inconsiderable part of the wonderful shots!
    Then I will watch more videos of the channel and dream of how I try to achieve such results with my lenses (M42 Vintage) ...

      Thank you for watching! I really like making these vintage lens reviews. I believe especially now with these hybrid cameras, it's important to show samples of both stills and video. The character of the lenses with the technology of the cameras give amazing results. Cheers!

    This is exactly what I need. Can’t find much information online about this lens and your video helped me decide on buying one. Great work, thanks!

    The 50-135mm f/3.5 is one of the best lenses I own. It's always on my camera. On my D7200, pics are super sharp corner to corner at f8. The 25-50 f/4 is a terrific companion. It too is extremely sharp, with little to no distortion. And it performs extremely well when shooting into the sun. I can't say enough about these old manual ai/ais lenses. They're worth every penny.

    • @studiotrejo3047
      @studiotrejo3047  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I love this lens. I also own the 25-50 f/4 and it really astounds me how the image quality is so good. I would like to review the 25/50 soon.

      @@studiotrejo3047 The only manual Nikon lens that has disappointed me is the 20mm f/3.5 Ai-S. Perhaps, I have a bad copy. It suffers from severe CA at all apertures, and is soft everywhere but the center. The corners are terrible. I would never recommend it as a landscape lens. For close-ups, however, it seems to work fine.
      The others I have - and I have a bunch - are a joy to use. I plan to get 4-6 more. Even if I don't use them often, for what they fetch, they're worth it just to play with.
      For video work, you couldn't ask for more.
      Thanks for the video.

      @@globalfunseeker6733 I hear what you mean. I’ve never used the 20mm 3.5 but the other Nikkor primes have been excellent. I was using the 35mm f2 AIS for a video shoot and reviewing the footage today it looks great.

    Love this lens. It is one of my favorite zoom-nikkors besides the 25-50mm 1:4, the 35-70mm 1:3.5 Ai and the 50-300mm 1:4.5 Auto.

    • @studiotrejo3047
      @studiotrejo3047  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is one of my favorites too. I'm always surprised when someone owns one, so many photographers kind of overlook this zoom. How do you like the 25-50? I've been eyeing one and may get one in the future.

    • @Funktrainer
      @Funktrainer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@studiotrejo3047 The 25-50mm is a great travel lens for street, landscape and architecture photography. It has relatively low distortion on the wide side and a reasonably good bokeh at 50mm 1:4. Sharpness is good at f/4. I like this lens a lot as an allrounder on a digital full frame body as well as on film. This lens is technically superior to any 24-70mm lens for the F mount.

    Today, Feb 5, 2023, Community Thrift here in S.F. Still has the pink sticker from them on the barrel. 7 bucks. Hey, I've had it such a short time,(about an hour) I didn't even notice the macro.

      Wow what a find! This is the first vintage lens I ever purchased. I used it on my Nikon D600. I loved using it even before trying it on a mirrorless camera.
      $7 bucks is a steal! It’s a fun zoom and I recommend it to anyone. Thank you for writing!

    1982, there was only black and white photography back then, right?

    • @studiotrejo3047
      @studiotrejo3047  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question Andy. The process of color photography was very complex and expensive. But after the 1970s it became relatively cheap and available for mass people. So by the 80's it was around. The photographer may have had a preference in that time, and personally I love BW's, but advertising and marketing firms could prefer color photographs to show off whatever they were selling (merchandise, travel, lifestyle etc.). Whatever the case there was color photography in 1982.

      Hey Jason, the intro video was already put together from when our friends visited us last year pre pandemic. I added music and did some color grading. The photos and sample videos were taken over the time I had the lens which his over a year now. Gathering, editing and shoot some more broll and photos to fill in were I needed it. So hard to measure but I would say couple of hours over 3 days.

    I have this lens and the zoom creep is easily fixed by a piece of black electrical tape on the bottom of the barrel of the lens. And yes it is a great lens and is even better with a Nikon 6T close lens which makes it a super macro lens. Great video Regards Gerry

    Enjoyed the video. Does this lens have an parfocal features when switching between the focal lengths?

    • @studiotrejo3047
      @studiotrejo3047  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello thank you for writing! So tested it out and it's only parfocal sometimes. Meaning if you zoom in to 135mm adjust the focus and zoom out to 50mm it sometimes holds it's focus but not consistently. But if your looking for something in this range I can recommend the Soligor (or Asanuma) 45-150 f3.5 two touch lens. It does have a parfocal feature. Thank you for watching!

    I have the same lens with the same zoom creep problem. It must be a common problem with this lens. A silicone wrist band from the auction site (cheap!) pretty much cured it.

  • @felixchen8295
    @felixchen8295 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is amazing to see how you recommend this lens. I have 25-50mm f4 and this lens. I have no problem with f3.5, and I think it should be better used in f4 than f3.5. But I think its color rendering, for example, the contrast, is not outstanding. I mean, its color is kind of flat in my Nikon D3s, which is nothing to blame for the color. I would say, to use this lens, the picture control curve in the camera body (or in post processing) should be boosted toward saturation. Having said so, I plan to recruit it to service for the Fujilfim X-T20 that I bought recently. It turns to 75-210mm, equivelent to Nikkor 70-200 AF f4.

    • @studiotrejo3047
      @studiotrejo3047  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a good observation! I don't mind the lack of contrast for video shooting because it allows more room for grading. On the photography side I can see why a little more punch would be nice, but as a vintage zoom its performing very well, good enough to recommend for the reasons stated in the video. I personally like the images it creates. I think it's nicely paired with an X-T20, hope you can share the results!
