to make it worse too, the plat relics in crash bash isn't even time trials... it's beating computer opponents that are near TAS levels of difficulty.... which has been confirmed. Although, you can keep losing and they eventually get easier on you. A 3 win streak against opponents you have to be nearly perfect against and some matches are long.... WHY?!

Actually, in the N. Sane Trilogy, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, they added Purple Relics which are the developers best times to beat. I’m not surprised he never went for those
As a little bit of insight into the franchise: The Crash Bandicoot games are a series of old school Jump & Run/Collectathon games (so your Mario game comparison wasn't bad) which started with the original Crash Bandicoot on the PS1 in 1996, being one of the first 3D-Jump'n'Runs ever. It is from the same timeframe as Mario 64 (1996), Spyro the Dragon (1998) and Banjo Kazooie (1998), which I would argue are all more casual representatives of 3D Jump'n'Runs. The original developers were Naughty Dog (yes, "Jak & Daxter", "The Last of Us" and "Uncharted" Naughty Dog), before the later games got made by different varying studios, including Traveler's Tales and most notably Vicarious Visions, who are responsible for the "NSane Trilogy"-remakes of the OG trilogy and "Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time" (and whom you could know through other games series like "Tony Hawks Pro Skater" or many of the Spongebob Squarepants games, including "Battle for Bikini Bottom"). The story-outlines are as follows: The evil scientist Dr. Neo Cortex planned to take over the world, with Crash (a bandicoot, yes, it's a real animal :) ) as the leader of his armies (if I remember correctly). Something goes wrong though (as we see in the opening cutscene of CB1) and Crash turns against him. What follows are a bunch of levels with tight Jump'n'Run controls on high difficulty, during which you try to break all the crates in every level, including some bonus areas in each level which you have to find/unlock through other collectibles and secret paths. So that you aren't as lost in the future; some notable reacurring characters (besides Crash and Cortex) include: Coco: Crah's sister Aku Aku: A medicine-man mask and kind of a protector spirit (giving you free hits in levels when you have him and a temporary speed bost and temporary invincibility if you collect him 3 times without getting hit) Uka Uka: Aku Aku's evil twin-brother who is behind Cortex' deeds Dr. Nitrus Brio (or N.Brio): A scientist working for Cortex and the creator of Crash Dr. N. Gin and N. Tropy: Two other scientists working for Cortex in different games and being bosses in levels Tiny Tiger & Dingodile: Two reacurring bosses and sometimes playable characters I myself 100%ed Crash 1 and am about to do the same with Crash 2, all on the NSane Trilogy on Game Pass, and I HIGHLY recommend trying it out for yourself! Maybe it's a bit too broad of a comparison, but I would say the Crash Games are are earliest thing to a Jump'n'Run version of Dark Souls, while still not being as frustrating (most of the time), yet just as rewarding when you pull them off. They really are that hard to get, and I've gotten all of them in "the wrath of corex" before. without masks, you fail the second you're hit or fall in a pit/water. but crash is still an amazing platformer... usually
Basically... Crash Bandicoot is like playing Classic Mario.. only it isn't moving from left to right and more about moving forward. With the extra objective to break every crate you see. Only Crash 3 are the Time Trials are actually necessary to beat the main story to get the true ending. The same is also kinda applied for Crash 4: It's About Time.. and you need to do the relics in Crash Team Racing to unlock an extra bonus character.

I will say that as someone who did this for the first 3 games multiple times caddicarus is completely wrong about crash 2 being hard to do this on. With the exception of one single level none of them are difficult to platinum relic in the slightest when compared to all the other games.
