Hey Richard....love your channel! If you had to pick, lets say tomorrow (yay, I get a non-windy day to kayak fish)......would you go to Lake Kerr or Rodman around the Kenwood boat ramp area? I've always wanted to fish Kerr, but I've heard everything from "it sucks", to "It's a dink fest" to "it's great".......any advice on which area of the lake you'd go to if you were limited to a paddle driven kayak? Thanks a ton.

It I were to pick between Rodman and Kerr I would choose Rodman. I would go to Rodman because I feel like I would have a better chance of catching quality fish. I fished Kerr a few times this year and every trip was a dink fest, like you mentioned. If I were going to catch numbers and bring someone who just wanted to catch bass, I might go to Kerr but in my opinion Rodman is the better lake. If I were to go to Rodman in a paddle driven kayak I would launch from the Orange Springs boat ramp. There’s some good fishing up there and it’s a little more protected from the wind. I hope this helps you out. Good luck!

@@richardwhitefishing Thank you! The reason I thought Kenwood ramp would be better is because I've heard (can't always believe what you hear) that their is a much heavier current south of the Orange Springs ramp....is that the case? I assume you mean put in at Orange Springs and go South towards the river.

@@mikeschwallenberg3456 if you launch at the Orange Springs ramp, there is a lot of water to fish before you get to the river. I’ve never noticed much current. I’m sure the closer you get to the river the current will be more noticeable but I’ve never had it affect me. I would say it’s about the same conditions at both ramps in my opinion. I’ve never noticed any difference when it comes to current.

@@richardwhitefishing Hey man I really appreciate you helping me! We wound up putting in at Orange Springs and fished south towards the River & there was zero current, only wind.....I fished the pads and mats too much before I went to the other side of the lake and started finding them a tad in the stumps....we caught 6 fish total and one big bowfin....largest bass was about 3 pounds.....also FYI, the ramp across the lake from Orange Springs (Hog Valley Ramp) looks really clean and launchable assuming the road getting to it is fine....it also eliminates about 10 minutes of paddling getting out of the channel if you put in at Orange Springs.....you have a motor so it's not as big of a deal for you lol. The gators there are NO JOKE as I saw 5 that were longer than my 11 foot yak. We only saw 1 other boat all day....not sure if it's cause it was a weekday or I went to the wrong area haha. That lake is freaking beautiful though in certain areas....felt like being in another dimension as I'm originally from VA/MD.

@@mikeschwallenberg3456 Awesome! Im glad you were able to catch a few. You’re right, I forget sometimes how far it is to get around without a motor. I do know about the launch across the way. I’ve never used it because it’s a further drive from where I’m coming from. Sorry I didn’t mention it. I’ve never seen a ton of boats out there during the week. There are usually a lot more during the weekends. Rodman is definitely a beautiful lake. I’m glad I was able to help you out. Maybe next time you’ll catch a Florida Giant!

I have the 32 also having problems in shallow water it’s not wanting to show out past around 50ft I noticed yours goes out further

@@nonamebassinhave you tried increasing your depth? I’ve found that my image quality is better in shallower water with increased depth. If you have your sonar scanning 50+ feet and your depth set to just 5’ deeper than the bottom, I find that the image is distorted. The image is stretched out but without the depth to make up for it, the image doesn’t look as good and is hard to understand.

@@richardwhitefishing ill try this thank you! iv never seen this problem and its strange in 7ft of water i could set distance to 60 and it stops at like 45 ft and is blank to 60

That sounds odd. Maybe try to notch your transducer one click up. I sometimes will notch it one up to get a better view in shallow water. If it starts getting rough out you will start seeing a lot of interference from the waves and at that point I will go one click back down. It might help. Not seeing past 60 doesn’t sound right though. I’ve never ran into that problem.
