Yeah, and that makes it extra sad tho.
In the manga, i didn't notice the small panel of Yama with the defeated looks on his face. And since it's manga, once you skipped that panel, the next page is double spread of him getting slashed. So i thought back then Yama was just outclassed and got slashed very quickly.
But here, it was so apparent. He loosen the grip on his sword, and they showed that defeated looks just at the right duration to really shows that Yama just let himself took it. He really did gave up.
Now THIS is how you sell despair.

@@alkalostrytoart1024 Thats also the reason why Yama wasnt considered a special war power. Younger Yamamoto would've recklessly fought until the very end using Kido and Ryujin Jakka, just like when Zaraki is fighting an opponent. He would've been killed in every scenario but Yamamoto with less pride and arrogance and being reckless, would've been a much bigger threat.

@@eija1790 no, they knew very well Yamamotos power: Aizen from his time as a shinigami and Ywach already tasted it 1000 years ago. Aizen made Wonderweiss to seal his shikai, because he knew, thats was enough to kill all of the Espadas(except Barragan). He knew that too, that Yama wont use his bankai, because of the living world. Ywach faced already some degree his bankai, so he knew how lethal was is it 1000 years ago. Ha made a "device" and a pawn to counter it. Without the Allmighty and that medallion Ywach didnt stand a chance against Yamamotos rage... but the plot armor said otherwise.

Yhwach seems to be really afraid of yamaji...
The entire point of the first two invasions was to emotionally, mentally and physically break yama.... In the first invasion, over a 100 members of squad 1 were killed, including sasakibe, which deeply affects yamaji, makes him full of guilt and regret, breaking him mentally and emotionally... We see the result of it in the second invasion when yama rushes to the front line due to his clouded judgement, and moment he sees yhwach, he makes a swing with shikai, and then straight up goes to bankai...and uses every single ability, to kill yhwach as brutally as possible, and make him feel the pain that yama felt sasakibe died by suing South... Yamaji had constantly try to suppress his power in bankai as it was about to destroy soul society.... When yamaji turns off his bankai, it was pretty obvious that he was tired, basically now along with being emotionally and mentally, now yamaji is broken physically as well... At last, yhwach blows up 1st company barracks and appears in front of yama, putting yama in state of shock and then he steals his bankai. yhwach had to plan for centuries to beat yama.
What an absolute beast.

Everyone is, Aizen also specifically said he couldn't beat Yamamoto head on and created Wonderweiss specifically to nullify his abilities so he couldn't use bankai. Even the overpowered main villains need to use tricks to get around actually facing him in a fair fight.
Ywach won only because he stole his bankai thats like beating Superman with kriptonite... if he didnt stole it he would have become a part of Zanka no Tachi South... all Yammamoto needs is one good Zanka no Tachi North hit and Ywach is finished

Many paid attention to the animation in this episode, but the best part for me was the character breakdown of Yama and how well Ywach uses mental tactics to win instead of sheer power. Ywach had Yama's squad and lieutenant killed first, this ultimately turned Yama into a rage monster fighting for revenge
- Here Yama is being completely spiteful, so instead of treating Ywach like a true threat and just erasing him, he tries to belittle, demean and torture him. In doing so, Yama isn't fighting like an experienced Commander which leads to him making the mistake of overusing his energy, which is why it was weak enough for Ywach to steal.

It was SO FIRE, that, instead of keeping Neel bald, it brought his hair back into existence.
And now you understand why during the Arrancar Arc, Aizen had no problem wanting to fight EVERYBODY EXCEPT Yamamoto. Cause he knew if Yamamoto got serious we wouldn't have needed Ichigo or a final getsuga tenshou.. and that arc woulda been about 30 episodes shorter lol
The explanation was that he doesn't like using his bankai because it would destroy Soul Society or the Human World (depending where he activates it). So Aizen played on the idea to seal his Shikai flames by creating a Arrancar just for that.
Yeah, Aizen was not sure if he could beat yama, but that was before he merges with hogyoku.

@@sasukemadara5968 Aizen gave a "indirectly" hint that he could beat Yama, since he became a transcendent being, butterfly Aizen was confident enough that he could take on division 0, and we know ichibei alone is arguably stronger that yama, monster aizen scales higher than butterfly, EOS/Muken Aizen is bare minimum on this level of power.

In my opinion this was the first fight of this season because every other fight has just been people throwing attacks at each other for the most part, but here we were moving way more and it felt so different

Mob Psycho’s episode last week was one of the best animated episodes ive seen of anything in a long time. Nothing this season yet could top it, and it was uncontested as the best episode after a month and a half.
Then this episode drops, declares war and sets a standard for the week knowing MP and TYWB both had amazing episode 6s, and I can only hope CSM follows through to blow my socks off.

This episode shows again how much of a menace Aizen is. The Gotei 13 didn't know shit about Yhwach. Back in the day his realm wasn't even called "Wandenreich" it was called "Licht Reich", so the name Wandenreich is not a historical name. And Aizen STILL knew about both Yhwach AND the Wandenreich even though soul society was completely unaware of it. He either had some way gain Informatoration about them during his time being sealed, or (which is more likely) he knew about them during the events of the Aizen arc. Which would still be crazy considering how they hid themselves. Aizen is the absolute worst threat for soul society. I have no doubt in my mind, that he is a far greater threat than Yhwach. His intelect, knowledge and power surpass basically all of soul society with maybe the except being Yamamoto ("being") and (intelect wise) Urahara. But Urahara just doesn't do shit.

For anyone who's confused by the whole Sternritter "Y" thing w the imposter and thought Kenpachi killed that guy last episode, the anime actually left out a small flashback & explanation for that. There were 2 Sternritter Y's, twin brothers Loyd Lloyd and Royd Lloyd (terrible names i know), both being "Y - The Yourself," both w slight variations on that ability. Loyd can copy a person's appearance and powers (hence why he lasted longer against Kenpachi than the other 2), while Royd can copy physical appearance and a person's memories and personality. That's why he was chosen as the imposter & was having flashbacks to Yhwach's fight w Yamamoto a 1,000 yrs ago, recognizing old subordinates, & acting like Yhwach during the fight.

I LOVED THIS EPISODE.
A little explaination,since the anime didn't do that (even do you can tell the difference by reading the names of the 2 characters that I'm going to talk about).
There are 2 Sternritter Y,they are twins,1 is R and the other is L. The one Kenpachi fought was R,he has the ability to copy the same shape of someone else and its skill and powers with it. L,the one who Yama killed,can do the same with the shape,but can only copy memories and knowledge of the person he choose
Between the 2,it's safe to say that L was the strongest of the twins

You mixed between L and R. Yama fought Royd Lloyd, who can copy appearance, memories and mind(You were right on that part). And yes Royd is the stronger one. I assume he been training to be body double for quite a long time.

Man, downloading all of his tybw videos was entertainment for several months for me back when I thought sadly to myself that the manga would nevee be animated.
It was back in 2016 when I was finally done with all the bleach anime and 4 movies and I was thirsting for more (got into Bleach on 2011). Back then, the only Bleach content YT channels I had and loved was Tekking and 2Spooky
The love at first sight of Bleach for me was when I watched and downloaded an edited video of Ulquiorra vs Ichigo first fight, The one where Ulqi held Ichi's getsuga tenshou with his bare hands.

Aizen literally toyed with everyone in fake karakura town, imagine if Yama went bankai, then what?

- he would probably have melted the pillars and teleport real karakura town back, destroying everything
If anything, Aizen saved everything by sealing his flames.

Yamamoto let his emotions control his actions. If he was wise, we would have fought or tried to fight in shikai form. Yes, Royd seems to be super strong, but the bankai with the 4 compass points was an overkill.
Basically they broke him mentally by killing hundreds of his men, including Sasakibe and he didn't even think, just simply used all his powers to kill... a "puppet". I know, Royd was powerful, can imitate look and memories, but still. I think Yamamoto had the chance against him at lower levels.
He wasted so much against Yhwach. But also even if he kills Royd without overkill, Yhwach simply could steal his bankai. So... it was a check mate from the very beginning I guess.

Just to clear up the History here: 1000 Years ago was the first aggressive Move and Uprising from the Quincies - with King Yuha Bach at their Frontline. The Shinigami won that relatively quick War however, and Yamamoto actually killed so many Quincies and even defeated their Leader, so that he earned the Title of the strongest Shinigami in a thousand Years. His Achievements in that very Quincy War earned him his Title and pretty much MADE him the head Captain he is today - making this part of the Backstory so much Juicier :D After the Quiencies were defeated 1000 years ago, the Shinigami decided on the "Cleansing" of 200 years ago that has been mentioned before. Decades of Negotiations failed and the very Balance of Souls was at stake, so they felt there was no other way. At least that's the STory we have so far :)
