There's a guy who, back when it seemed like Bleach would never see it's last arc animated, did a fan animation of several chapters, with the intention of doing the whole arc - his channel is called Retro Ryno. The production was so good they managed to get Johnny Yong Bosch himself to reprise the role of Ichigo for it. Retro Ryno was one of the animators in this episode. :D
Yama could've killed clone Yhwach at anytime... Thing is he REALLY thought this was the real Yhwach and he wanted to toy with him and mock him for all that's happened now and in the past.

So, Y is basically a pair of twin brothers bearing the same letter, and they are both "The Yourself". The first brother we saw fighting Kenpachi last episode, as this is the other one. There are more interesting bits about the two brothers but i'll let someone else do the expanding work
