I remember when this came out. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Now, the holiday season isn't complete without watching it. The author is from my home state, and the local railroad does a Polar Express train ride every year for families. Everyone wears pajamas, enjoys hot chocolate and listens to a reading of the original book, which looking at Christmas scenes going by.
That sounds utterly magical! Wow, you're so lucky to have that in your area.

Fun Fact: Tom Hanks provided the voice for the Narrator, the Father, the Conductor, the Hobo, Santa, and the Scrooge marionette. He also did the motion-capture performance for both the Conductor and Hero Boy.
Fun Fact: Tom Hanks and Peter Scotari (who did the motion-capture for Billy) were in a tv comedy series together in the 1980s.

This is indeed a classic Christmas movie, but it is also universally recognized that the computer animation was nowhere near ready to do humans, let alone kids, without some serious Uncanny Valley happening.
The person or “ghost” on top of train with fire lit is hobo,he became ghost after colliding with the flatop tunnel,train hopping were popular during Great Depression but is dangerous due to risk of harm when riding on it
