By the way, Elvin's drum solo reminds me of an avalanche.
I get the impression that it is distorting time and space with acceleration.
Many of Elvin's followers have studied his phrases well, but I feel that their playing is too well-mannered at constant speed.
From Elvin's performance, I feel a strong catch like gears meshing together, rather than a smoothness.
If you compare it to a car engine, I would say that it has a very strong torque.

Thanks for your comment! Yes I really like this image of an avalanche. I transcribed another solo from him, "Monk's dream" and he uses this concept even more, constantly changing subdivisions to distort the time feel. Check it out!
