    They are attracted to movement. You would have to be jigging the jig in order to compare.

    I have to get a boat.... My local lake won't let anyone fish up around the dock slips. I have a canoe, but no dice around those slips. Seems finding the brush piles with the depth finder is key for successful crappie fishing.....

    • @GrandLakeGuy
      @GrandLakeGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, crappie are structure freaks. anytime you can find, cover and or brush next to a channel, you have a good chance to find some crappie

    Good video! I may have missed it, but I heard you say BoneHead jigs. That is ALL I use. Curious which one you are using there. I can tell it is a Stump Bug but have not been able to see exactly which it is. Good test there. Might have to get up to your area and do a little fishing. I did not try it like you did today, but I sprung for a dozen minnows a month ago and all we caught were fish on the jigs. Have 2 lines in the water with minnows. We each used one, lol. God test. I might have to try it again for the fun of it.

    Maybe next time taking a fishing buddy and one of you use two minnows and the other use two jigs. I always take minnows, but I need to try using my jogs more. Of course, finding a productive brush pile is step 2 (finding opportunity to go is step 1). Great video!

    Try using a scent on the jig setup. Slab sauce garlic or JJ's magic, etc.

    Maybe try a more natural color jig instead of chartreuse, it could make a big difference.

    I have never crappie fished.
    And I have always believed in live bait over lures if your Hungry.
    But I watched Richard Gene catch tons of crappie with jigs.
    I think it might be time of year, water temp, location, etc.

  • @joracer1

    Yeah even a hungry fish ain't as dumb as you think. But sometimes if they are biting every 10 seconds I will switch to jigs because feeding crappie will work you hindend off, and 50 minnows won't last long....

    Paul I'm a Subscriber & like you 🫡 However this is horse pucky even on film. You weren't working that jig & didn't try a different profile. So are you saying you will bet me you will catch 7 to 1 fishing beside a Crappie Fisherman with jigs?😂 Due tell..😄🤔😀

    • @GrandLakeGuy

      minnows are easier for beginners to catch fish. i use jigs most the time just to keep the small ones off the hook

    • @UnLikeU
      @UnLikeU 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @GrandLakeGuy To each their own. I'm just responding to your Post. People catch fish year round never buying Minnows. I've seen vides that said Minnows out produce Jigs 3-5 times more. 🤣😱🤣 That means if I caught 25 they would catch 75 & if I caught 50 they would catch 150. Okie Dokie. I'm taking that bet. 🤑🤑

      @@UnLikeU all i can tell you is, do the research, dont listen to jig companies and big tackle companies. of course the media will tell you jigs are better. they dont make any money off minnow fisherman. i'm a bett'n man, love taken bets, along with peoples money

      @GrandLakeGuy If you get in the Dallas Fort Worth are & say you are going to catch 3 to 5 Times the Crappie I'm going to catch with Jigs. You can bank on making me your Huckleberry for no less than $1k any day you give me notice to take off work.😉😁 Zero disrespect towards you. 100% Respect to my own abilities knowing I have had many a 3 Man & 2 Man Limit Days. That's my 50-75 having to be matched by 150-225. I'm taking dat bet DAILY.🤣🤑 ZERO DISRESPECT TO YA.🤝

    Good test. Paul do you have side scan on your garmin unit or do you strictly use it for live scope. I just put a garmin 93sv plus on my boat and havent found any videos of anyone using side scan to scan under docks. Thanks for all the tips.

    My motto down here in Okeechobee is, when it’s time to try minnows it’s time to go home. When I do use minnows I use a single pole with a drop shot type rig. If I don’t feel the thump, i don’t wanna catch him. Waiting for one to swim by my minnow gives me anxiety, I gotta go after em! To each their own, right? lol great video man! Thanks✌🏼
