Originally. Since 1980 it's been made in Auckland by what is now Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (N.Z.) Limited. using Auckland town water ,which has some Waikato river water included in it. "In 1995 a complaint was made under the Fair Trading Act to the Commerce Commission, stating that as the water used in the drink now comes from Auckland rather than the Paeroa spring, it should renamed to Lemon & Panmure (Panmure is the current location of the water supply), or production moved back to Paeroa. The Commerce Commission said that no action was necessary."
They had to stop using the original Paeroa spring water due to rising (natural) mineral levels in it a long time ago. The same as the Te Aroha water was stopped due to rising arsenic levels several years earlier. I remember buying Lemon&TeAroha at the public pool in Te Aroha in the mid '70's.

McDonalds is definitely not cheap in NZ.......and a sandwich here is 2 slices of bread with something in between. What you ate was burgers in NZ not sandwiches. McDonalds bacon can barely be called bacon. If you went to a privately owned takeaway shop you would get a far nicer burger, probably cheaper as well and you would be able to say you want your bacon crispy.
