Just came back from my first run in mine too. Awesome awesome truck. I have some PowerHobby batteries that fit perfect. Dont know how hot it is there but I did thermal mine out on the stock gears. It needs cooling fans bad.
yea after this quick run here the motor was VERY hot as well
@@JayTeeRC I am about to run the Traxxas 3s 5000 now and see how it does. I ran the PH 5200 50C and looks like I only used 2600mah before it thermaled. Its dropped from 106 to 100* out now so may do better. I just ordered the Slash VXL cooling system for the motor and ESC. I am waiting to install the speed gear because of that heat. But about to perform test #2 with it and see if I can kill a pack! LOL Loading firmware update now to see what the ilink thinks it goes speed wise. lol

I could have sworn a completely stock Slash was only 35 mph or so. Did you change the pinion? Just to get to 50mph with the Hoss I had to go up several pinion sizes and that obviously has the bigger motor.
That hoss motor will fit. I’ma swap out motors on mines soon

By chance does the raptor r have the same driveshaft as the traxxas xo1 ? If so I’d love to see you do a size comparison review video between the Raptor R & traxxas xo1 since the raptor r is pro scale 🤔😎

I love the look of this truck but I keep wishing they had a solid rear axle design like the UDR. Make it look like a real truck that rolled off the showroom floor, not a dressed up short course racer.

Maybe to an enthusiast like yourself@@mankind8088 but for me who has never seen a remote controlled vehicle go that fast before it looks fast.
I already have a UDR....but im tempted. Would i be bored with this truck compared to the UDR?
Hard decision on that one. They both perform well I just like it that this one has a lot more options and it's just a bigger slash so I can bash it more
The hobbywing 120BL G2 is only 89 bucks with a 3660 motor. That combo will do 4S. Give you 60 MPH plus.

With 13/54 stock gears. 45mph I seen one clock at 46mph almost 50. Still pretty fast
if the slash already overheats stock, imagine same electronics in a bigger car with bigger tires like this... Fun must stop after 5 mins...

BTW, my Rally does 60 and stable as a rock with a cheap Chinese 5200kv setup and $15 sway bars, so consider that the gauntlet respectfully tossed down

At the price of $530 Traxxas should have made the body a lot more realistic and with skid plates ???? This trucks price should have been more like maybe $400 !!!!!!!!
