The lcg 4x4 slash will always hold a special place for me because it got me back into rc. In my opinion, Everyone needs a 2wd Traxxas to beat the snot out of. Don't get lost in the aluminum upgrade bs. Rpm control arms, decent drive shafts that aren't made out of peanut butter, and send it! Most fun pr dollar out there.
In my opinion, the Traxxas Slash kicked off the RC short course truck craze. Stadium trucks were on their way out and there wasn't really a whole lot going on in the RC hobby. It seemed like overnight everyone at my local track had a Slash. My local track phased out the nitro racing class and replaced it with short course. People can have all their opinions of Traxxas but at that time the RC hobby needed a lifeline and the Traxxas Slash helped keep this hobby going.
@@mech0p Ya those are still popular, I was talking about the stadium trucks like the AE rc10T, Losi XXXT, Traxxas Rustler. That kind of stadium trucks, not short course. 👍
Oh I've broken everything known to man with wheels , the back half of the chassis eventually goes gears pins axles , but it is a great truck , I remember when the first ultimate edition 4×4 was released 399. I said myself I always buy a new one if these trucks best 400 bucks spent . Now I'm old and cheap don't want spend 600 on a slash 😂. This thing is nice , I'd rather the real one
Ok, that was rad. I'm not a basher either and really don't take pride in just sending stuff - without reason. But this - THIS - has given me inspiration LOL Good job man.
Years go, I bought a second hand slash 4x4 vxl. it was baldy made for speed; big pinion weird tires AND a steel cage for a 2wd on top. sold the cage, but a +1 over stock pinion in and painted up a new body. Now I need to look at some maintenance, but it held up really nice. You can go round after round with it.
Honestly, for as tough as the slash 4x4 is, the 2WD version blows it out of the water. Mine was named "The Tupperware Cruise Missile" after a combined 60+ mph head-on crash with my dad's 2WD slash. Only thing that happened was the body basically vaporized, shattered into a few hundred pieces - the actual truck was fine. I clipped the remains of the body back on with the 2.5 body clips it had left and ran the pack out.
My Blackfoot went through gobs of abuse way back in the day and it always held a place in my heart. Middle school kids that start off with this truck will have a fondness for it as well. Built ford tough as they say.
My 2WD Slash is one of my favorite RCs. Great fun on a local off-road indoor track. I started out hitting everything in sight and I haven't broken a thing.
@kunkmiceter chevy doesn't have any real off road trucks that could even dream of competing with a Raptor 💀 Just a bunch of parking lot mall crawler princess trucks 😆
50 seconds in, and I know I'm going to love this. I have never been a basher, but I've bashed many that weren't intended to be bashed. The production value is amazing in this one
I used to own a regular slash 4x4 vxl and it was amazing from the first throttle pull, I put aluminum shocks, alum motor mount and 2.8 badlands on it and it was unstoppable, hardly ever broke it. Pro tip - get the drive shaft cover, put a strip of Velcro (the fuzzy part) around the opening of the drive shaft hole on the bottom of the chassis near the servo, and make a shroud cover for the chassis to keep rocks and debris out. Oh yeah and NEVER run over dog crap LOL
Well someone’s been upping there intro game, getting-all fancy pants with the editing sweet. Oh and know them dirt jumps, had a chance to play there a few years ago!
Channeling your inner Kevin Talbot… That launch / jump was amazing! Not a Traxxas fan, but I appreciate the quality of their products. The K-pop “photo bomb” made me giggle! He is a weird one for sure.
As always your running footage of RCs i amazing. And this is by far my favorite video of the new Slash Raptor R. The filming, the editing, the music cues. Love it. More! More I tell ya! :D
I have a 2014 traxxas slash, and just doing jumps it doesn’t usually break, now, kissing a wall with just one of the wheels at top speed, now that’s what gets ya
Kpop and yourself did a great job. I mean one of the best running vid edits I have watched to date. I do my best to try and get tips from both of your vids as much as possible. RC ON!
Yeah I'm sold. Traxxas gets another $650 bucks frome me including the light kit and gps. I've already have a TRX4 w/Bluetooth module. So I'm halfway there. But can it trail? Like you did with the Vanquish RTR truck Damn good looking truck though. That lexan body looks better than the hard body one from RC4WD. Thanks guys for all your hard (but fun) work!
Great video. At first I thought it was very similar to my arrma granite. But then I saw that jump. And thought there is no way I would try that with the granite.
Yea sure 😂 my granite took more abuse than my slash and it was 100 cheaper 12 years later , slash is a great truck though I've owned a few I miss the 2wd buggy I had
The slo-mo shots really make a person think about how excellent the footage is, and how many scale Horsepower the truck is...ALL OF IT!!! ❤ The video!!!
I've just bought my Raptor, went on a first ride, drove over a small puddle which splashed some water under the body and... the same happened to me - ESC immediately turns on after plugging in the battery, led is green and then it starts flashing red in a 1 2 3 blink pattern. Everything is immune to water except the power button (and possibly the rest of the esc) - well done traxxas, well done :) Some mud guards would be nice, but the only one I could find were for the regular Slash
And hopefully you watched the rest of the video to discover that it was dirt in the case holding the button down, causing it to cycle over and over. An easy fix!
@scalebuildersguild The saddest part is that it happened literally after 5 minutes of my first ever ride with Raptor, that's not my first RC and I'm good at electronics so it wasn't a problem for me, but it could be someones first contact with RC's and it would leave them with a big disappointment. I think it's a design flaw and I'm planning to replace that switch with a spare wired one from my burned (sad story, not proud of it :D ) HW 1080, and then secure the soldering with a bit of ht silicone.
I can’t help but think this is the literal manifestation of Matt taking his frustrations out on the guys at Traxxas who sold the Earthroamer he worked so hard on 😂😂😂. Great video as always my man!
great video. I wish I could have one but we don't have money to buy. I had a lot of fun with my Traxxas Slash last year. Now I need money to continue with the hobby
Really good video honestly, the slash is a killer platform that takes a beating. I really dig that new raptor though, might just have to pick one up. Keep up the great work.
This truck is, in many ways, the pinnacle of the Slash platform so far. On top of the time-tested Slash durability, it also has the new heavier-duty hubs and driveshafts, which make it even tougher. These really are one of the best R/C vehicle platforms ever produced.
For a guy that’s mostly about scale builds, you certainly make the best run videos. Awesome. Surprised Traxxas doesn’t have you make their promo videos.
Very nice. That ESC definitely needs the clip on fan. Traxxas should have included that, but it's no biggie. I would personally probably put some kind of aftermarket fan on that ESC. My experience has been that aftermarket fans are more durable and faster (they blow more air too) than the stock Traxxas fans. 👍
Killlerrrr shots!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Lovely work dudes. That off camber jump is pretty wild. Looks like this rc makes a pretty good mountain bike too. Maybe traxxas should include some inner fenders??
Sick video! You made this the only slash that has peaked my interest in years! I used to race them back in the box stock slash heyday but haven't touched one in 10 years. This one looks so cool though!
