If you'd told me in 1994 I would be listening to this song in 2024... I'd totally have believed it. Instant classic and one of the songs of my life.
Or that I'd be seeing them in concert this year
Wish +Live+ would get their act together
First album I ever bought 👌👌
Heck yeah!
@@sarahchipperfield28Same!
It is so crazy that, after 30 years, a live version like this one still carries emotion and surprising moments. Perfect as Glycerine should be.
Timeless song for sure
Right!!!! Same! And seeing Gavin’s emotion as he sings it makes me also tear up 😢 this song and band shaped me as a young girl!
but 1994 is only like ten years ago...
@@matthewhyde9426 😮
I became disabled in 2003 with a severe brain injury. I don't remember a lot before 2003,but childhood music, like Linkin Park, Creed, Incubus always trigger memories I've once forgotten, and emotions rush back into my head.
Gavin being almost 60 hurts my fucking head. Still picture him as the young man who calmed the stormy crowd at Woodstock '99.
This song Bleeds 90's , Man i miss these times.
My teenage years. An era that today’s kids can’t understand despite how recent it was.
same. remember when they were bush x?
So do i 🥹
You and me both.
me to severely
One of those songs that will always remind me of a certain time in my life. Still gives me all the feels just like it did when I first heard it. What a treat!! ❤️
100% same!
my thoughts as well...was a good time in life... tha.90s
Agreed😊
I know!! Every time I hear it, I get stuck! Phil Collins In The Air Tonight is another song that takes me back😊
I agree. Even though it was when I was w a special ex it still good happy vibes.
Still gives me chills ❤ 13 or 40, I will always love this song
angsty 13-year-old rocking out to tortured grunge lol
Me too❤
🍻🍻🍻🍻
Thanks for being the same age as me.
Im 39 brother, this song, this band, Gavin, it all its home everytime. We all get older, but goosbumps, those dont get old!!🤘🙏
“I’m never alone, I’m alone all the time.” Those words meant so much to the kid version of me. The power of 8 words.
I hope that’s not the case anymore mate
@@drcristasThankfully it’s not but I appreciate the reply. It was that time growing up when we all were looking to find ourselves and what we felt seemed so big.
Also his lyrics from "swallowed," 'I am with everyone and yet not.'
He has a theme with that sort of thing
Good God I can relate to that line soo freaking much
and strangely it's never been more true
Sixteen Stone is still their best album to date. Totally captures the sound of the mid-90s....post the Seattle grunge era.
100%
Agreed
Razorblade Suitcase still has a soft spot in my heart. Saw them in ‘97 when I was 17 for that album tour.
@@kilo-watt agree 💯 Sixteen Stone was absolutely epic but Razorblade Suitcase is my personal favorite.
@@kilo-watt Same... i was also 17... i remember they opened with A Tendency to Start Fires...
When I impulsively clicked on this video, I underestimated the emotional memory attached to this song. I can't remember the last time I heard it, but I can remember every word, every note of the cello part, many people I heard or played it with in high school, and where we were at the time. I see from the comments that I'm not the only elder millennial feeling this way! Hello, my fellow children of the '80s.
Well said friend.
I agree! 🙂
Well, well said amigo.
Waves from New zealand... cannot believe I'm 40 now
Sixteen stone was one of the first cds are ever owned. This came out when I was 10 ha. Crazy how Gavin’s voice took me RIGHT back to the mid 90’s. Wow.
This song at Woodstock 99. Iconic forever. Solo in front of a quarter of a million people. Imagine.
I watched 1000 times that vid
I was there, it was awesome
I could cry... I used to listen to this song on repeat when I was 15 years old. He is older now and that means I am too 🥺 where did our years go?
down the drain
At least we still are, I've lost many friends since this came out
Time flew for me too. Seems just like it was not that long ago when this song was brand new.
Same, them Smashing Pumpkins and Silverchair :)
Gavin's voice still sounds great!! Not often can a singer go acapella live and sound perfect! 👍🏾
A capella?
@@kirstenbakker839yeah, he sang with no accompanying music for a good 30 seconds.
I gotta disagree.
.....that's not how a capella works lol
@@V3ganBr33sounds to me like Father Time and a lot of cigarettes have caught up to him
I’m loving the resurgence of rock becoming mainstream again
We feel the same...:)
I am so glad I kept my turntable. I’m buying that cool looking album
the greatest genre!!
I’d love that too…not seeing a resurgence to the mainstream though 🤔
Where and how and which NEW bands are really carrying the torch? I'm craving for some truly memorable stuff here yet the only band I can think of is Idles (who have been around since 2009).
As a guitar player… this song is the example that 4 or 5 simple chords can last a lifetime….. what a time to be alive. Love you all ❤🤘
what about beastie boy's sabotage? :P
@@andrew_ng That too. 😀
why does it sound like he fucking them up though
@@iDigress77timesexactly the beginning was all over the place I was wondering if he was doing it on purpose or just messing up.
@@Bnt91308 its because he was.
One of my favorite songs from Bush. I could play this on repeat. Proud to be a 90s baby! 🙌🎶
In the 90s, I had a friend who would record a song onto cassette over and over... so it would play on repeat, sides A and B, while driving in her car
I use to do that too. It helped memorize the song and lyrics.
In the late 90s I was a poor teenager who'd record songs on the radio using my mom's tape recorder. The quality was so bad but the songs were so good I still got the golden goodie so I accepted it. Nowadays a lot of music seems to be the opposite..
It’s one of the all time great songs
I miss the 90’s
I loved this song as a teenager, and I still do. I remember every word. This brought tears to my eyes as I remembered a much simpler and more innocent time in my life. What a beautiful song. 💗
And you brought a tear to my eye remembering that same time in my life. 😢
I loved this song as a 30-something mother. Had the C.D. playing in m y car.
Don't let the days go by.... ❤
My mom took me to see bush with no doubt and the googoo dolls… time flies
That must have been awesome!!!
Lucky! Cool mom you have!! ❤
Absolutely amazing line up! You must've had the time of your life!
i miss my mom😢 so much
That was my very first concert
When he went a cappella I was floored I can’t lie …cello comes in…so beautiful 🌹
He is almost 60 years old and he still sounds beautiful. Such an incredible voice.
Ever heard of Eric Adams? Glenn Hughes? Steven Tyler? He sounds so bad…
@@habercock5431he doesn’t sound bad at all
And still SOOO SEXY!
Over 30 years later... That line of "I'm never alone, I'm alone all the time" still hits like a proper gut punch... Every god damn time
Every single time.
lol
How so?
@@oggyoggy1299 for me, I have had many occasions where I have been around a lot of people but still feel alone in my mind, it's a line that resonates with me, and many others I know , you either understand or your don't

Gavin gives his all here. You can see the raw emotion in his eyes. ❤
I think he is fighting tears actually
@@stacytate6865 absolutely. the whole way through! don't know who or what this song is truly about for him, but yeah he was in it during this great performance!
I was at the taping of Tonight Show with Jay Leno in March 1996 when he performed this the first time. 28 years later and Bush still got it.
Nice!
What do you mean? Wasn’t this released in 94?
@@davem45 th-cam.com/video/5J6ZFuMYY0Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PF8E8KsCloC4T2ZK
@@davem45yes, the album came out in Dec. '94, and this song was the fourth single, almost a year later. And then Leno a few months after that (you can find that here, too)
90’s will always be the greatest era of music. Period.
"We live in a wheel where everyone steals, but when we rise it's like strawberry fields." Powerful. 💜
Makes no sense
this is my favorite lyric of the song. absolute poetry.
It conjures the Beatles and innocence, picking berries in a field
@@davidtaylor111it probably means that we’re usually in repetitive loops of negative behavioural patterns, but when we rise above it, the world and/or our lives become beautiful. He probably chose the imagery of the strawberry fields as a Beatles reference. He references plenty of artistic works in the lyrics of the first album.
@@CharlieFader Exactly, Charlie. Very well said.
Gavin's voice has aged sooooooooooo well. Like a fine wine. Gives me goosebumps as much now as 30 years ago.
I remember racing through the forests of Southwestern Montana on a mountain bike and listening to this album with a lover, feeling as if I had the world by the tail. Sweet memories of Bush and being 27 years old. A lifetime ago for sure.
Beautiful. You can clearly see the emotion in Gavin's face by singing it. Everlasting.
His dog had just died the same day.
I was gunna say..why would he be emotional? I seen him on Howard Stern talk about this song and there’s no real emotional story to go with it. He just said it was about an old girlfriend he was dating at the time. Nothing crazy. But he looks like he’s crying this video and his face looks kind of puffy
I’ve seen him live 3 times and met him once he’s amazing. No one is perfect yet his talent is real. The sadness in his voice is over Chewy. Which if you’re a bush fan you know he’s mourning his fur baby.
Dd you notice the tears in his eyes? His face was sad, it's been a difficult few weeks.
@@cat_mama6767 yeah he really seemed to be in tears right at the end. What's been difficult the past few weeks?
@@KageanRage Chewy his Pom passed earlier this month. Devastated.
@@cat_mama6767 ah gotcha, thanks.
I was bartending at Ruby Tuesday in Jackson MS in 1996 and the Goo Goo Dolls came in for a few rounds, they were the opening band on Bush’s tour at that time. Left a pair of tickets when they tipped out! Good Times
I think that's the tour I saw, too
That's an awesome story dude!
At metrocenter??
Yes, Metrocenter
Its the one show that is for free. Nobody shows.
take me back to 1994..when I was 15..Sixteen stone was one of the best albums of that year. This is nostalgic.
I can't believe how good he still sounds
Mate Bush’s last two albums are awesome…
One of the greatest! It's almost shocking to see how he's aged, simply because I don't think of myself or them to being old. Yet here we are, I'm in my 40's!! Keep rocking!!!
Whoever had the idea to use strings is a literal genius.
@@eightpickslol
When this song First came out there was so much good music at that time. Hearing it always brings me back to that time, early 90's. Such a great time back then!
Yes.. and the memories slam into my head and heart.
Man that song took me back to high school.
Bush was my first ever real concert I ever went too!! Moby opened up for him, crazy!
Such a brilliant song that really takes you back to the 90s, possibly the best decade of the 20th Century.
Wow. Gavin sounds amazing. This was perfect. Hopefully this will make people remember how awesome he is.
BUSH! Gavin's writing style and music comp has always stood out to me. It's a different sound and delivery and there is heart and soul behind it. Have been a fan from Sixteen Stone.
One of my favorite memories is standing about 5 feet from Gavin as he sang this back in the 90's. My first rock show.
That riff always hits hard, and brings me back to simpler times during my childhood in the 90s. Gone but not forgotten
This was so heartfelt, always loved this song...more so, now
What a beautiful man
Great performance it amazing to see rock music become more mainstream again.
Rock music is the best! I have never stopped listening to rock and roll. It's the background and sometimes the foreground of my life.
He seriously nailed it. Him and his song have stood the test of time.
Bush will always be my most favorite band from the 90’s. I can’t believe it’s been 30 years since I first heard it. It still blows me away.
This rendition matured well and it's like fine wine . 2024 is the perfect version of it and time✌️
I saw Bush in 1997 when I was 13! It was AMAZING! I hope I get to see them again!!
One of the first CDs I ever owed, wild how fast the days have gone by.
My dad had 16 stone cd, white snake greatest hits, Coolio gangsters paradise, Aerosmith gems, smashing pumpkins melancholy sadness. We used to listen to those albums all the time. Brings back a ton of happy memories
Saw them live a little over a month ago. Did VIP and got to meet the band. Gavin signed my copy of Sixteen Stone. They’re great live.
Finally, Jimmy picks someone of substance as a musical guest!!!! This is amazing!
For real! Come on jimmy!!!!
That was beautiful!! Awesome performance !! 😊🩷🤘✌️
It brings so much nostalgia listening Bush , best times of my life the 90's , i was living in Switzerland , i woust to drive from Sion to Thyon 2000 with their music blasting at max , windows open , snowing and freezing temperatures but rock it warmed my heart as always have . Miss the time when music was called rock !
We need rock back into our lifes ❤
One of my all time favorite songs! Really makes u realize how much we have all aged. This and machine head still always have their spots on my current playlist
Goosebumps when it came out and goosebumps now. Love this band, Love that voice, Love that song!
He’s amazing live! And so much youth left in his voice. I’m impressed! 👏🏼
he sounds just like the record, yeah?
a very 90's rock Song 💪💪 Love it!!
Saw them couple months ago and they were awesome. Sounds just as good now as then and dude still acts & looks young. One of the songs that always takes me back
Today, I reached 200k in my journey, and I'm incredibly thankful for all the knowledge and insights you've shared with me over the past few months. It's amazing to think that I started with just 14k back in June 2022. 🇺🇲
@JonLawrence-it4lq Thanks to Mrs Thelma Charlotte Ruff. She's a licensed IAR here in the states.
I'm not here to converse for her but to testify for what I'm sure of, she's trustworthy and best option ever seen.
After i raised upto 425k trading with her, I bought a new house here in the states also paid for my son's surgery (Kelvin) glory to God.
Trading without professional guide.... Huh I laugh you because you'll remain where you are or even make huge losses that will stop you from trading this has been one of the biggest problems to new traders.
@JonLawrence-it4lq If you would like to get in touch with her, I recommend searching for her name online.
An absolute classic song, still sounds amazing
Gavin still killing it after 30 years with this one. Glycerine is a damn classic 💯
Heard this for the first time in a long time 11 days ago at my third day of training at my new job. Never knew how much I liked this song, though it took a few days of listening. The guy training me played this on his speaker and I’m just blown away. He’s into stuff I really like, plays the guitar and in a band. Early 90’s I’ve definitely heard this before but I don’t remember when or where. I vaguely remember so it must’ve been a long time ago. But I’m hooked onto it. The emotion is so strong in this and I absolutely love it. This for sure is one of my favorites I can’t lie. He sounds so good live, especially in the 90’s. And watching his 90’s performances of this I didn’t realize how fine looking Gavin was until now. Just wow.
Bush!! 🥰 I was at their very first American show at the Stoned Pony in Asbury Park NJ in 95, and this performance of my fave ❤ song of theirs (brilliant) was just as good as it was back then. (And one of my fave songs to cover) I remember me and my bro showed up early, and these awesome dudes in this band put us on the guest list!!! And, Actually, they all signed my journal, which I still have to this day🥰😘💞. Love you guys.
I believe their first show in the US was at CBGBs
This is an amazing story! I went to high school in Asbury Park.
@@abepafford1615 it's an awesome memory!! 🥰. My cousin now lives in Asbury Park! His wife says The Stoned Pony got a complete makeover since then, it's a much bigger place now...
bush's golden state album actually helped me through a really hard time in my life... much love and respect always
The love I have for Bush and Gavin!!!! So many memories!! Still rocking them in 2024!!
My 30 year old daughter is going to the show tonight with her 6 month old baby girl, (yes, baby has ear protectors). It warms my heart knowing she was secretly paying attention to Mom & Dad's tunes.
One of the songs of my childhood love it, only gets better with time.
I moved from the US to Australia - and belt this to my sons in the car cruising along the beaches - they have a love for 90s rock :)
I saw them live back when they performed in parking lots and that man is freaking beautiful and can sing so good live! ❤️
Saw him in concert four years or so ago. He was amazing. He came-out in the crowd while singing. Cool dude.

Greenville Auditorium Greenville SC. Me, Mike, Matt, Samantha… we all went and it was awesome. Bush, No Doubt, Goo Goo Dolls…
Right up in front on the right, by the wall… I miss being 14/15 years old.
Jesus I’m middle aged. 😳
Gavin has aged REALLY well!!!
he has hurt in his soul GOD BLESS U SIR
Well he cheated.
Gavin just did it with full of emotions🇵🇭
He sounds as good now as he did then ❤ love it ❤
Man this is one of those songs I always turn the radio up for and sing my non singing heart out lol!! I lovvvvve rock. Especially the older stuff. The newer bands don’t really grasp my attention. But I’ll forever love classic rock ❤ I can’t wait to show my daughter my favorite bands & songs
Omg, I just realized that this is considered CLASSIC rock now!
This is dedicated to all lovers of OUTSTANDING MUSIC, thanks BUSH and GAVIN
Saw Bush twice this past year! Amazing show 🔥
Im glad someone lets them play on tv still theyre awsome
I can still remember the first time I heard it in 1994 while taking a buddy home from our after school job. I’ve met Gavin twice and he’s the most genuine, humble and just amazing person. The second time, he remembered me and that has left a lasting impression to this day. If I had ever a man-crush, Gavin would be it lol.
I Love this song! Always!! It´s clear that song brings to Gavin some memories, He fought the whole song not to cry and when the lights went out he quickly wiped away a tear! This is the power of music! Touch ours souls!!!
His dog had just died the same day.
His voice is still just as beautiful and its still so relevant ❤ thank you for the nostalgia ❤
Eternal song, fantastic
The isolated vocals were magic ❤❤
That was just absolutely an awesome performance..I wish I was born with such a beautiful voice as his ..🙏🙏 thank you so much for the performance and thank you Jimmy Fallon! You da man!
Underrated band. So many memories. He always had an amazing voice, just listen to their Roof top live. I will never stop listening to them.
Anyone else start immediately humming along ,?.. 😌🎵🎶🎶🎶
In Canada 🇨🇦 we called them Bush-X because there was a band of the same name. My first 3 albums had Bush-X on the front cover.
So touching this rendition.
I Really Like This Performance So Much
When I close my eyes and listen to this song it feels like I could open them up again and it'd be morning on a school day...and I'm about to see my crush and pretend I didn't listen to Glycerine on repeat all night, all just so I could bond with her over it; cause she told me Sixteen Stone was her favorite album the day earlier.
The way i stopped everything to listen! I love this song.
Feel the love of the 90s. We were lucky to grow up with such incredible music!
Cox and Bush on the same show: what a lineup.
Still remember getting the sixteen stone cassette and all the sudden this song came on. This song still takes me back to that exact feeling I had like no other
Crazy powerful performance man. Incredible.
Still remember the live version of Wild Horses. I have never heard a version of that song that was so beautiful. His voice still is one of the few men's voices in music that can choke me up. Not a lot of men have that ability when they sing to just get you right in the heart. I have never heard another voice like his.
Seems it has been said many times over here in the comments, but just saw them live two days ago, and he instantly transported me back to 1999. That is something very special, as though his music can transcend time and space instantly.
Such a blast from the past... ♥
This album was practically a greatest hits album itself. Great performance, nailed that A cappella part
I know Gavin is going through grief right now, his beloved dog died a couple of days ago. Maybe that´s why he was especially emotional during this performance. I felt his pain. Beautiful, Gavin
My heart hurts for him 😢 must be so hard to right now
Didn't realize how much I needed this today.
