  • Barbel and zander offer exciting and challenging coarse fishing. We are on the banks of one of the best spots in the country, Collingham Weir. Fishermen even queue up to fish here. We are after both fish species with Sporting Shooter magazine editor Dom Holtam and his old pals from school who have some luck landing pike, zander and barbel. I went to a lake that was hidden away not owned by anyone in oxfordshire, fished for trout and got 2 pike over the 10lb mark and one beast of a zander hitting a 12lb 9 oz mark.

in my view this video only paints barbel fishers in a bad light. Not all who fish for barbel on the trent decide to stack them into keepnets like that. I think those featured in this video would maybe be best going fishing for f1's in overstocked carp ponds and leaving the river to those with more respect for the fish.

I couldn't say it better myself. I hate it when these match anglers but 10'S of barbel in keep nets. They are fragile fish and if not put back properly could just tip on it's back and die

cross between a pike and a perch lmfao stizopedian lucio perca (spelling) brought here by the duke of bedford in I think the 1800s absolutely nothing to do with pike (essox lucio) first lot brought here died 2nd lot well the fish speak for them selves, but hey ive met anglers many times who actually think it is a true hybrid of pike and perch !!! the same anglers THINK that silver bream are the same as common bream, saying that I'm in the north east on the border line from the great swap over from course fishing to game,we have no bleak, ruffe (tommys) or zander in the tees and further north (tyne wear aln coquet are game rivers with the exception of the wear being both game and course mostly game river wear fish counts in google will give insight to this also river tyne fish counts as well as farson digital webcasm to view the counters on the wiers/dams ,) THE TEES is still recovering from the industrial pollution form yesteryear,,some say that zed is now in the river tees er bulls..t that was a rumour designed to get ME thrown out of fishing forums and make my name even more shitty than what it is, (yarm angling club forum and Whitby sea anglers etc.... for me being very outspoken about how the Yorkshire esk is run and has been close nit run by riparian landowners ie: judges barristers etc secret handshake an all that,) cos of my salmon poaching past....PAST ! I haven't put zed in the tees all the rumours are rubbish ive yet to see a foto of a zed some idiot put a picky of a north African catfish from the tees in Stockton on tees lmfao,as for zed no I have yet to see a foto of one, that don't mean they aint there of course, but still I'm into everyone from everyside of fishing both game 1st then course and even sea fishing,i even talk to my old enimies the E/A fishery officers (bailiffs)

lmfao typical course anglers always say " they will kill everything" we hear that up here in the north a lot about pike as we have no zed this far north,if zed or pike was to eat everything surely they would have been extinct for 1000s of years ? from my experience all the best waters are the ones with predators in,pike, perch, chub,(burbot extinct now) eels just take a look at the likes of the ebro and Po,same as many river s here in the uk....better waters have predators, they will whittle out the weak and small fish not killing everything......lmfao at pIKE PERCH
